It's Almost Here!

   We are missing Rohan this Christmas, but we're so glad he's happy and safe and serving the Lord in Utah. Bruce and Savitri are off school until January 7, so we hope to have lots of family fun before then.

   Last week was busy with last minute preparations and exams at school. Ben was busy at work too. We are all glad for a little Christmas break. We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas this week!


 

Wise Men Still Seek Him

We had our church Christmas dinner last night. Savitri, Lindy, and the other youth and their leaders set up a "Walk to Bethlehem." There was a fake cobblestone path, videos about Christ's birth in different rooms, and a market place where you had to sign your name on a census and collect little bags of fake gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We then knocked on a series of doors where the young men happily turned us away because there was no room in the inn. We ended in the chapel with a Christmas message from the bishop. It was a fun night and the food was great. We have a ward tradition of having smoked brisket for our Christmas dinner. Yum.

The bishop said we should celebrate Christmas by being like Christ and taking care of our brothers and sisters in need. It was a good message. This is the link to the video he played, called "Wise Men Still Seek Him." 

With Ben and Bruce home this week, we could finally set up our tree. Savitri and I set up the other one last week. Ben and I went to four stores on Monday night to find a new tree because when we got our old one out it had given up the holiday ghost.

Rohan is thriving, but cold. He baptized this little boy a couple of weeks ago. The boy had to delay his baptism for a little bit because he had broken his arm. Rohan knows all about broken arms.

We got this photo from a good friend today. It turns out Rohan is now serving in our friend's brother's ward! What a great surprise. He says Rohan will be very well fed.

 

SLC Convention Fun

Savitri and her friend Sophia sang a duet of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," at their Christmas choir concert. All the singers did a great job. We love her choir director, Ms. Long.

 

Ben and Bruce went on Bruce's senior trip over a long weekend. Bruce chose to go to Dragonsteel Nexus, a convention featuring Brandon Sanderson and his books. He has been Bruce's favorite author for a while now.

They did a lot of shopping. Their suitcases came back much heavier with lots of books.

They had the unexpected pleasure of meeting up with David, Eli, Michael, and Amanda at the convention. I was jealous. 

They also got to spend a morning with Brie and Sam. Again, jealous.

And then! They got to see Daniel and his family. They got to see so many of my favorite people!!! So lucky!

We missed them, so we're glad they are home now. They had a fantastic time. Savitri and I had fun while they were gone too.

Rohan is doing well. He went off to play his guitar by himself when he was out for P Day last week and ended up with an audience.
