Back to the Suture

It's taking me such a long time to start updating - but finally, I am able to take time aside.
Very sleepy now though. Just got back from watching the Med Revue entitled 'Back to the Suture' - it was very funny and entertaining, but some parts were really disturbing.
I especially liked their parody of 'Im on a boat by Tpain' instead of that, the title is 'Stethoscope' hahaha! It was cool, but my ears nearly bled from all the swear words. But the atmosphere was really catchy and addictive!

And just a simple update about my birthday surprise 2 weeks ago. Jenni baked me a cake and some friends came over to our flat that night and we just hang around and played uno. Was going to go to Karaoke but in the end, we didn't.

Travelling alone

the yummy wantan noodles I had at the airport
On the way back from Qatar to NZ, I stopped over at Changi Airport for 8 hours. It surprisingly went quite fast, but towards the end of the free time, I was so paranoid and checked the gate every few minutes. This is how I have learnt to become independent by travelling alone. haha.

Thinking like this.. isnt healthy.

Back in the second home now, work has taken flight straightaway. Thankfully, i seem to be able to concentrate on UMAT better here than at home. I was probably very into the holiday mood to do much productive work there.
But how I miss home right now, though it's only the third day back. I guess I'm feeling very greedy.
Today I went to a Linguistic lecture - a paper that teaches us about the social aspects of languages. It is actually quite interesting - though I must admit, since it is about English and language stuff, I will still find it tough. But at least it will probably be way better than Introduction to Visual Culture. I have up till Thursday to make my decision - on whether or not to take up Linguistics for my 8th paper, or stick to the impossible Visual Culture. Writing it out here, I can kinda tell that it is foolish for me to stick to VC.
I want to watch Shining Inheritance to rid of the already mounting worries, but the subs are not up yet! Hmm. Not sure when I have to wait until, sigh.
Should probably go to bed now, 9 am class tomorrow.
I hope my brain returns to the study mode very very soon - being distracted like this is not going to get me good grades!
When someone asked me about my gpa, and said, "Ah, so close! You must be gutted!"
I don't know how Im supposed to react to that. I know he didnt mean it in a bad way, but now it's just eating at me.
And to find out that someone who you help gets the better results.. it's not settling right with me. I shouldn't be jealous.
Instead i should work harder, right?

Forgetful mind
Tuesday, July 07, 2009
An "
ability" I have gained in my first term of university... being forgetful.
I can read a text message while I'm asleep, and totally forget about it the next day.
The first time I found out about it, was when I was queueing up in the dinner line, and because I was bored (the line was MASSIVE!), I decided to send a txt to my friends, and whilst going through the inbox, I discovered a txt from
Lingdi which I don't remember reading.. it was quite weird. The time the txt was received was 2am the night before.
Second time, a txt message from
Ningjie- a 'Hi' which I was struck dumbfounded when I discovered it. I really don't remember reading it! Hence why I didn't reply. If I hadn't gone through my phone inbox, I would never have known that I have received the txt.
I'd always be thinking to myself "how come I read the txt and not know it???"
Another funny thing was.. there was a night where I stayed up to study and intended to complete my GLM assignment, so I finally went to sleep at 7am.. When I woke up at 12pm later, I was talking to my flatmate Jasmine, before going to lunch..
Sherp: guess what time I slept?
Jasmine: 7
Sherp: *gasp* how did you know?!
Jas : you told me! i went to wake u up at 10 and u told me u slept at 7!
Sherp: nooooo what?! whaaaa??? I didn't!
Jas: yes you did, i asked u what time you slept and u said 7! so i said, okay go bak to sleep and went out.
That concludes my story on how weird I have become after entering uni. Hahaha.
