Christmas Break 2014

So, I mentioned that no one came to visit us and we didn't go anywhere for Christmas break.  The break here is a long one - usually 19-20 days.  It's really nice to have that much time off of school.  We tried to do a few fun things with the girls so that they would feel like they had some kind of holiday or vacation when they went back for the long season of school afterwards:

We tried to pull together a New Year's Eve party with the kids' friends, but every single one of them was out of town that night.  So, later in the week, we let each kid invite 3 friends to go bowling and out for pizza.

It finally snowed!

But it was wimpy snow, so they made microscopic snowmen on the driveway.

Harriet's dream was to go sledding.  We had tried to find a place for days, but no one had enough snow.  Finally, on the last Saturday of break, our friends, The Boyle's, invited everyone in my primary presidency to bring their families and we would drive as deep into the mountains as we had to, to find a patch.  Finally - we found enough snow to go sledding!

A few dog and cat pictures for good measure:

Finally, these two started to get along and be friends.

Then, I think it snowed the first day back at school, so that was fun...

And, we got enough to make a better snowman on the grass:

The end.
