zhu hai n macau

Sat
===
Took a bus to zhu hai and shopped at gong bei. This is a place where many hkers and macau people go during weekends. Super cheap stuff there, shopping is really cool. But shops can ask for a sky high price only for you to have the enjoyment of bargaining. For eg: you can easily slash a 100rmb top to just 50 or less! This is coz many shops are selling similar items, so if you dont get from one shop, you can get from the others. Checked into hong du hotel at zhu hai, where F, HJ and I shared a room for just 318 rmb! At night, walked on the streets of zhu hai, only to find that it's the chinese version of vegas - equally sinful. Lotsa porns being sold on the streets, prostitutes everywhere, night clubs, beggars...

Sun - 11 Nov 2007

Crossed the custom to reach Macau. My 2nd time to Macau, the first was coincidentally on 11 Nov 2006 with FS. My one year anniversary there. Went to Venetian, which was pretty grand with real canals and branded stores there, though the background of the venetian houses sometimes look quite fake. After that, rush to da san ba to take pictures, bought some macau goodies and left for home. A 2 hour trip back to GZ again.

2nd Day of School

Went for a jog up a small hill near our place with F, L, DJ, WA and J. The air was really really good. Gonna do it everyday. I just need to buy more sports gear. =)

Attended 2 classes today and it's free and easy for us. The first 2 lessons were bravo, deeply impressed with the professors who taught us..they are damn good at teaching and really to the point..wu ti tou di.

After that, we lunched near school and went to Bei Jing Lu to shop...yippie..lotsa shops there,bought 2 tops and a pair of boots..gonna blend in with the crowd in no time. Had Japanese dinner at a Yi Ji Ban Japanese restaurant at Bei Jing Lu.

Then it's back to room, and washing clothes, and zzz-ing soon...tmr will be a full day of class, hope I dont fall asleep.

Shu at Canton!

Finally reached GZ 3 days ago.
Day 1
=====
Nice of NTU and YiHe people to go to the airport and pick us up. Turned out that one of our classmates from last batch was a DJ at 958. Checked into our apartments, pretty cool one, spacious and well-equipped. Ate at our canteen, fwah, the beef horfun is super oily! Think we've already boycotted the canteen on our first day. Next, we went out to this place near our apt for grocery shopping (hao you duo) and dinner.

Day 2
=====
Opening Ceremony at Guang Wai on a Sunday. Tho it's a Sunday, the campus is full of people.People taking part-time courses, students living at hostels roaming there. Feel quite old there as the students are all very young! Gosh...dont think I can make any China friends here. Then, we went to this place called "Tian He" shopping district..tonnes of people there. Upmarket place where things aint that cheap. Bought some groceries and Jay Chou's new album!! Yippie...=) Dinner at quite a decent restaurant, but still find some dishes too salty and peppery.

Day 3
=======
First day of school officially. Ok quite cool, lunch time was interesting. We took a metal plate and got our food from the stalls, essentially it's a survival among the fittest game, squeeze and place ur order, the guy over the counter will splash the dishes on the metal plate, and you pay by tapping your card. Quite a cultural shock as people were pushing and shoving yet we dont see any metal plates drop nor people getting hurt. Dinner, me F and L walked out to this place near our place (not exactly near, we walked like 30 mins and found out that we could take a bus for one stop later). It was like those more heartland shopping place. We went to this "San Wei Xiang" to eat "Xiang Cai" upon recommendations of a salesgirl we bought shoes from. Gosh...it's really nice..we had seaweed soup that's really really yummy (those that were cooked for hours) and ba si (sweet potato coated with malted sugar- super nice) !! That's highlight of the day, other than lunch. =)

Leaving on a Jetplane

Almost packed and ready to go. This is it! Looking forward to China, but at the same time starting to miss home too..hmm...Wonder how my trip will turn out.

2 months is quite a short time, I found 6 mths of UCI to be short too. I only blend in with the Americans after a quarter. Looks like I gotta learn to adapt myself quickly so that I could blend in with the locals, and immense into their cultures. Was joking with my family that I could meet a China guy there, turned out that they were dead against it! Typical sterotype of them to think that they are only after my Sg PR, my bank account...haha..

Anyway, met T on Wed and we went to Timbre 2. It happened to be their grand opening. There were so many pretty people around that nite, some local DJs were there too. He knew the band there, and boy, the band was pretty good!!

He said that before I left for the states, i was a simple gal, when I came back, I became cooler...hope I dont become a country bumpkin after coming back from China!Anyway, we updated each other about our lives, I always learnt more about myself after meeting up with T. I realised that my horizons do not go beyond 2 months! At least at this point of time, I'm not thinking about my future beyond my 2 months in GZ. Good and bad I suppose. He has went on to become more and more like a banker, how he and his 2 other colleagues always hang out on Fris to celebrate the end of the week. Haha..so typical of working people.

ok, shall continue with packing. My next post shall be done from china..=)

Going off...

I'm leaving this Sat morning for GZ! Finally the day I've been waiting for is here.

But..I'm still doing some work before I can leave in peace. Sighz..wonder how much of it I produced will be used in the end. Nevertheless, promised my boss to give it to her before I leave. Hope can send out by this evening, and then I'd put a complete stop to my work and focus on packing! My mood could have been better if not for this.

My schedule this week:

On Sun, went to gym as usual, but the usual yoga instructor was not there. There was a Chinese lady, she's not as good as the Indian guy. Oh well, my trial membership is expiring soon, dont think will renew it. Quite a pain to travel all the way to town to exercise. Unless I drive of course.

Monday, met up with ZX and colleagues for Party World at Chinatown. Went to the Indian temple for a while and saw some rituals celebrating the Fire-Walking Festival. Singing was ok, haven sang in months though.

Tue, went for a painful facial and the beauty consultant tried to convince me to prolong my facial package. Doubt I will do that. Too X, I rather splurge on Biotherm products.

Wed- happy halloween!! Going to Timbre 2 later...heehee..cant wait.

Thu - my farewell dinner with family cum aunts. Thinking of going to travel agency to check out some china deals b4 that.

Fri - should dedicate this whole day for packing and sorting out admin stuff. Lotsa things to do man..So last min.

Sat - GZ, here I come! =)

Every beginning leads to an end, every end has a new beginning

Read this somewhere and it's really true.

Everything that you start on, you will come to an end sooner or later. It could be a piece of assignment, report, career, relationship, or life. So if it's tough, be glad it will come to an end; if it's enjoyable, cherish every moment.

Every end signifies a new beginning, such as the end of school life and beginning work, end of my work and going to GZ soon. I just hope exams will end soon, and it's indeed ending this Sat. In a happy yet stress mood. Happy that I'm leaving and stress coz rushing for the essay and preparing the exams. Hmm...
