Our Tree

Image

Okay, so last night I finally ventured into creating my own background. It took me many hours cause I didn't know what the flip I was doing! Then, today I thought I would take a chance at trying to do a digital scrapbook page. Here is my sorry attempt, it's rather pitiful but I am posting it anyway cause it was so much work! I am in awe of those of you that do this skill so beautifully and seemingly effortlessly!!

Secret Santa

Image

Someone has chosen our family to be a Secret Santa to this year! It seems that they are doing the twelve days of Christmas for us. We have received a gift or treat and scripture everynight since Dec. 14th. They have delivered yummy cookies, delicious braided bread, chocolates, candycanes, cupcakes, candles and gift cards! One night,Daniel tried to catch them as they were speeding away. I had to tell him that they wanted to remain annonymous, and he said he didn't understand that. I told him that they want to give without receiving anything in return, not even a thank you. They are giving just to give because it makes them and you feel good. Obviously, it has been way too long since our family secret santa-ed anyone! It has touched our hearts and made this season even more special! We look forward to seeing what they will bring next!

Ward Christmas Party

Image

Image

At our Ward Christmas Party this year, Charity was an angel & Daniel was a Shepherd for the nativity(they are the 3rd & 4th from the left). There was also a slide show of pictures of our ward members, with Jesus by their side protecting, helping, & directing them through various things in their lives. I'm hoping to get a copy of it soon and post it on here.

Snowday!

Image

So its been snowing in Las Vegas the last few days. Yesterday it snowed a couple of inches, which is a big deal for Las Vegas(there are only 7 snowplows for the whole valley). Well the school district decided to close the schools today. I thought I would show you a picture of what a snowday looks like in Las Vegas:

It looks harsh, doesn't it?

I Love Me A Man In Uniform

Image

Image

Thanks to my good friend Jamie, and her husband Mike; Robert got a job at UPS during the peak season. He will be making less than he did before we got married but if he does a good job, he will be considered a positive rehire for a permanent position. Also, it will give him something to do and will keep him outta my hair! We want to thank everyone for their prayers & please keep them coming!

Robert's $100.00 pumpkin pie that he saw on Oprah
Image

This year we enjoyed Thanksgiving at our friends Karl & Laura Wolff's home. They were so gracious to invite us. It is so nice to have friends that you consider to be family. Robert just HAD to make a pie that he saw on Oprah, all the ingredients that he bought came to almost $20.00 and then it seemed to take him four hours to make it, so I deemed it the $100.00 pie. We had a nice time and the food was delish! As you can see, we were only able to snap a few pics before the feeding-frenzy actually began! Thank you Karl & Laura, we feel so blessed to know you!

My Projects

I have been doing some redecorating lately(all pre-lay-off,of course). There were some changes that I had been wanting to make since we moved in but I finally got a bee in my bottom to do it! I am terrible about remembering to take before pics so I posted some old Halloween pictures to show you what everything looked like before. First, I decided to recover the cornice boxes. They were a floral material. I chose a material that would give the room some "texture" as Debbie would say :0)

Also, all the walls in our home were the same blue-gray color and I wanted something warmer, so while Robert was off hunting, I started painting. I am really pleased with how everything turned out. The sister missionaries even came one day to help me paint and we ended up talking about Twilight the whole time!

Telling the Kids

Image

Robert & I didn't want our kids to feel anxious or scared about the job loss so we decided to bake a cake and put fourteen candles on it. Then, we told the kids that we had something to celebrate; we were celebrating all the years that Robert had worked for one company. We told them that their Dad no longer worked for Cemex but that the Lord had blessed us immensely and that we were looking forward to what was in store for us now. We sang, "Happy Fourteen Years, Dear Robert", and then he blew out his candles! I'm so glad that we did it this way...it just feels nice!

Canned!!

Image

Image

Robert is officially layed off of his job at Cemex as of today. He has worked at the same place for 14 1/2 years! He first started working there at the age of 22 and we felt so blessed because our income would be enough to allow me to quit working and stay home with our children! During his employment there, the company name has changed 3 times and lastly, was bought out by Cemex. Fourteen years is a long time to be with a company and we are so grateful for all the years that the lord has provided for our family. We have no complaints. We feel that the Lord must have another path for us to follow. If all else fails, you might see Robert & the kids out on a corner near you!

Today my husband came home and announced that it was National Make Your Wife Dinner Day! I have never heard of that before! Men have been very careful to keep the existence of this day a Secret! So he made me dinner, it consisted of a pull-pork sandwich, homemade fries, and carrot sticks(grown in Grandpa Sanders'garden). It was yummy! And then my hubby cleaned the kitchen...is this a dream? I know that some of your husbands might do this regularly but mine does not, so this was "blog-worthy" to me! I love my hubby!

We had a lot of fun this Halloween. Our ward had their trunk or treat a week before Halloween and the kids had a good time but we were left wondering what we should do ON Halloween, so we crashed our old ward's party! It was so fun seeing everybody again and their party had music, food, cake walks, & much more! It was a blast, I was having so much fun, I forgot to take pictures! I hope that all of you had a great Halloween too!
