This is WAR!
Kyra and I ran dinner over to a friends house, and when we got home we opened the front door, and found the boys were all wearing helmets and yelling "FIRE"! I think Karl scored a serious amount of cool dad points from the boys! Carter couldn't quite bring himself to commit to one team for the long haul.
Baby Kittens!
Today we went to Sierra Vista to visit my parents. While we were there, we went to a friends house, whose cat just had kittens, two weeks ago. The kids LOVED those little baby kittens. Kyra just lights up around animals. These friends also have four horses and the beast of a pig, and Kyra just LOVES every moment she spends around them. Here are some little videos of each of the kiddos holding one of the babies.Cake from Week 2
This week in class we worked on Roses...which was really FUN! Making flowers has definitely been my favorite part...baking the cakes...NOT so much!
Carter IS LOVING my class!
I never posted the cake I made for Carters birthday.

Postal Museum
In preschool, this rotation, they have been learning about different careers. Kyle says he wants to be a Monster Truck Driver! Today we went on a field trip to the Post Office Museum. Kyle LOVED it!
They started by gathering the kids and going over the parts of an envelope such as where the stamp goes, what you write in the middle, and in the upper corner, the mark that is placed over a stamp so it can't be reused, and what the postmark means. They then read a story about a cow that liked to scare the postman. At that point they had various stations set up for the kids to participate in.
They could dig through a treasure chest filled with THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of stamps and pick out as many as they wanted to, to take home and start their own collection. The each received a stamp collecting book as well.
They could make their own postcard. They decorated the front, addressed it, wrote a message, and added a stamp. Then they walked to the post office part of the building, and cancelled the stamp (by stamping the stamp), and mailed the card. Here is Kyle working hard on his postcard for his cousin.
They also made bookmarks decorated with stamps. Kyle wanted an all dinosaur bookmark. So the INCREDIBLY nice woman took him over to the archive area of the building, where they cross reference all of the stamps by style and picture, and pulled the "Dinosaur Stamp" file, and let him pick out the EXACT ones he wanted. Here is Carter cheesing it up for the camera.
And his completed work of art!
As part of the building they also had a 100 year old post office from a small town in Arizona. They showed the kids the process of getting the mail, sorting it, stamping it and delivering it 100 years ago. They also got to try on a Post Masters hat which Kyle was thrilled about...Carter was not amused.
It was such a fun field trip!! I love finding a little hidden gem in Tucson!
