E's Bday

On November 7th my first born turned 6! Crazy!
Image
She's been much older than that for a long time. She's an old soul. A one of a kind spirit, sent to lead her family. She strengthens me and teaches me so much. How blessed these past 6 years have been!
Love you Ely Rae!

Just wanted to share some highlights from her special day.

Birthday Play Date at the Park
She chose a VERY cool experience (post to come on that) over having a party, but really wanted to play with friends. So the day of her bday we made little "come to the park" flyers for her to hand around at school. After school I brought a bunch of mini cupcakes and she got to play with 15 or so friends from school. It was PERFECT! Low key, no obligations, totally a great way to go.

She picked SUSHI for her birthday dinner. Ha, how many 6 year olds do you know LOVE sushi? She certainly does.

Charlotte's HUGE bowl of teriyaki chicken. Not surprisingly she ate it all.

Between, grandparents, siblings, friends, and even Primary teacher, this kids was SHOWERED with gifts.

"Eat-able" Snowflakes

Image

Who doesn't like to make snowflakes? Even better ones you can EAT! (Bonus: no paper waste or little scraps to endlessly clean up). This is by no means an original idea, but it sure is a FUN and EASY one so we thought we'd share.

ImageWhat you'll need:

Flour tortillas
clean scissors
cooking spray
cookie sheet
powdered sugar (sprinkles...all that etc. stuff)

Preheat Oven to 400

Step 1: Warm the tortillas up in the microwave (for about 15 seconds). This helps prevent cracking when you fold your tortilla. And we wouldn't want that would we, Boz :)?

Image

Step 2: Fold your tortilla in half, then in half again (aka folded into quarter sections). Cut out snowflake designs with cleaned scissors, unless you not a clean freak, then just use any old scissors. Hopefully they haven't been up anyone's nose.

Step 3: Unfold your snowflake and place it on a greased cookie sheet. Spray the top of the snowflake with some cooking spray. Place it in the oven and bake for a few minutes (I was lazy broiled mine on each side for a bit).

Step 4: When crisp remove them from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar for a snowy effect or whatever you'd like.

Pork out and ENJOY!

SO easy!!! And even your your child can't wield scissors yet, they still enjoy the eating part-- provided they can chew. . .
