So we were blessed to head down to Florida for a fun vacation and to visit Warren and Karin. I will get to all of the other pictures, but Spencer has been bugging me about posting his fishing trip pictures. While we were in Melbourne Beach, FL, Spencer decided he wanted to go on a chartered shark fishing trip. We kissed him goodbye and wished him well and he headed off to Cape Canaveral. His boat's name was Obsession. Spencer was giddy like a school girl. The first catch was called a Jack Fish (?). They aren't really good eating, but it sure put up a fight. It weighed about 35 lbs. This fish would head straight out or dive for the bottom, taking line. It then went under the boat and Spencer had to shove his pole and his whole arm in the water and walk the pole around the boat.
The beautiful or ugly Jack Fish

So Spencer was out there fishing and it started to rain leading to a beautiful rainbow.

While the rain was coming down, he took a picture from the boat looking back at the beach.

Spencer ended up catching 3 more fish, King Mackerels. According to the captain, these are good eating, but only when they are fresh. Apparently they don't freeze well, so they decided to use these fish as chum for the sharks, because don't forget, this was a shark fishing trip.

At dark they started to chum the waters. The weather continued to worsen and the two storms came together to form one. Spencer said it was really cool to be out on the ocean, which was pitch black and have all this lightning around them. Although, I don't think it helped Spencer that the night before we watched "The Perfect Storm" with George Clooney. The captain recommended that for safety they should probably head back in. Poor Spencer, they hadn't had enough time of chumming to really bring about any sharks. Nonetheless, Spencer ended up with a total catch weight of 75 lbs. He walked in the hotel room with a huge smile on his face. I truly anticipate Spencer will be charter fishing again in the future. More pictures to come...
