It's a good thing he is cute...

Here is a little of what we've been up to around here:

Coloring a masterpiece on the cabinets and fridge...

The dishwasher...

Image

But that was all nothing compared to this...

Image

That's right. An ENTIRE bottle of syrup. All over the kitchen floor.  Also a few little footprints into the living room to proudly tell Daddy what he's been doing, not without slipping in/tasting the puddle a couple times. It is amazing what this kid can do with 3.8 seconds of unsupervised time.

Notice the blurry picture. He was getting out of there as fast as he could.

At least he keeps me on my toes, right?!?

How we roll...

This is a common occurrence around here.
I guess this is just what I have to look forward to being the only girl around here...lots of scratching and plumbers crack ;)

Love this little monster and his cutest little bum.

The kissing disease...

Recently, Kam got VERY sick. It all started with a fever. Nothing else. Then a couple days into it, his face sorta swelled up and he lost all his color. It looked like when he was stung by a bee on his eyelid. Weird. By now, I had taken him to the doctor twice, just to be told each time that we needed to come back in a couple days if the he still had the fever.

Because I pretty much have a doctorate on web md, I went ahead and diagnosed him myself. I always assume the worst so I was convinced it had to be some type of cancer. Spencer told me to stay off the internet.

Day 7 rolls around and he still has the persistent fever, swollen face, and pale skin. He has also started to complain that he can't catch his breath, and when he sleeps it hurts to breath. We finally got in to see our regular doctor, who at the appointment, I tell him we are not leaving until he gives me an answer good or bad. After he examines him he tells me his tonsils are gigantic (which we already know), his right lung sounds off, and heres the kicker: his spleen and liver are quite enlarged. I think I stopped breathing for a minute because any hope I had that this is just a virus, is now gone. He reassures me that it is probably just mono, but he wants a chest x ray, and a pile of blood work done to rule out the "scary things".

I am a mess, so we head home to get Spencer for moral support (and to help the nurses hold Kam down for blood work). They do the x ray first, then the lab calls us in. Kam freaks out completely, but they get what they need and we head home with a very sad and very sick boy. Doug (my awesome Father-in-Law) meets us at our house and gives Kam a blessing. Then we wait.

The doctor calls us a few hours later and gives us some good news. The x ray looked normal. Some of the labs were back, and they found some "interesting" things. His white blood count was very high, but the lab tech thinks the atypical cells are just infection cells, not cancer cells. The doctor wants a second opinion, but reassures us that he is 95% sure he just has mono. His liver also showed some damage, but not in the hepatitis range. The mono test takes a couple days to get back, so we need to wait for the official word. We are soooooo relieved.

The next day, we get the mono results back and they are positive. The doctor gives us a little info on mono, tells us that because of his spleen being so large, Kam needs to take it easy for 6 weeks. Apparently your spleen can burst very easily and then you can bleed to death internally very quickly. No running, no jumping, no playgrounds, no riding bikes, etc. Wow. Not such a big deal now, since Kam is too sick to want to do anything other than lay, but when he starts to feel better this is going to be a challenge.

Kam got worse the next couple days. His fever got higher and more persistent (not going down with meds) and he developed a barky cough. We were up all night a few times because Kam could not breath. We went back in to the doc and his tonsils were so large they were obstructing his airway, plus when he lays down to sleep his large liver and spleen push up on his lungs, making it harder to get air. They started him on a steriod to shrink them and within a couple hours he started to get back to his old self again.

We are on day 16 of this crazy ride and he is MUCH better. Once he was able to breath, he finally started sleeping like someone with mono. He is still pretty tired, but I am begining to see what a challenge this "take it easy for 6 weeks" is going to be. Next week he heads back to school and then I am pretty sure I will be crazy with worry about him rough housing and popping his spleen. I tend to worry just a little.

In the meantime, we have been doing lots and lots of this...

And playing lots of these...

And taking lots of these...

And hoping this kid doesn't get the mono kiss of death...

Well, thats what we have been up to the past 2 weeks...I had no idea mono was such a big deal!!!

Starting fresh....

I started this blog with the best of intentions, but really I would rather stalk other blogs than take the time to post anything on mine. I know there are alot of you out there like me too, because no one updates anymore. I can say I am going to be better and post, but I have said it before. One thing I am going to do is start fresh. No more pressure that I need to post our entire trip to California, or every single picture I took last year. It might get a little random, but at least it will get a post here and there. So, there you have it...stay tuned!

Trip to California Day 1....

We had the BEST time in California this year. We had been planning it for months and Kam was so excited. Spencer had been in San Diego for an exercise the previous 2 weeks, so we flew over with the Harvey's to meet up with the men. These 3 little men were quite a handful at the airport, but we were able to get them to hold still long enough to snap a quick picture...

Krew, Kaden, Parker, and Kam

Image
My little monsters on the airplane. Krew was pretty good until the very end when he had had enough of sitting and being restrained and decided to crawl under the seats to find a way out. The man sitting in front of us was a total jerk too and let me know it everytime Krew even touched his seat. I was a little frazzled by the time we landed, but all in all the boys did great ;)

Image
The boys' room had a bunk bed in it and Krew thought he was the bomb diggity crawling up the ladder to the top. Everytime we turned around he was crawling up that stinking ladder.

Image
After we got settled in our rooms, we headed to the beach. Kam LOVES everything about it. He couldn't wait to get into that sand.

Image
Cute little Parker soakin in some sun.

Image
Krew was not quite sure what to think about the sand, so he tasted it, licked it, and threw it all over his little face. Yum.

Image
Cute little crawl prints.

Image

Image
Krew would dip his little face in the sand over and over and then rub his eyes to try and get the sand out. Silly boy.

Image
Kam spent some time "fighting" the waves off with his super powers.

Image
Love these two.

Image
The water was freezing, but Krew didn't mind one bit. He would've crawled right into it if we would have let him.

Cute little pigs.

More piggies.

More super powers.

Love this kid.

And the end of our first day at the beach. Now off to the hotel to warm up in the hot tub and get some takeout. Oh how I LOVE vacation!

Stay tuned for day 2...........

So behind, again...

I know, shocking right?!?! I hate that I never get on here and update, but life is too busy. I really want to post our trip to California, but I think I may have taken 500+ pictures (really) and I am completely overwhelmed. So I am starting with something small, like our afternoon at the splash pad sometime in September. Someday I will find the time/desire to tackle our trip, but until then.....

We had been waiting and waiting for the new park and splash pad to open here in Spanish Fork. Kam thinks that the park is "the coolest" and Krew really loves the water. He is a crazy man and has no fear. He can't get enough of the water shooting him right in the face. He loves every second of it. This particular day, we met Sarah and her boys and my good friend Katie and her kids. All the kiddos played so good together and as you can see it was perfect warm weather for the splash pad too. I can't wait to go a lot more next year!

Project 365...continued

Even though I have neglected my poor blog too much this year, I have been faithful to my challenge of taking a photo every day this year. I am just struggling with posting them. I fully plan on putting each picture on here, it is just going to take some time. Stay tuned...
