We took an awesome one week vacation the second week of May to San Diego. Garrison was such a good boy, not sure that he got into anything we were doing, but he seemed to enjoy his vacation too!
We got there on Saturday (even survived the fact that it took til Yuma to realize i hadnt brought any of my diabetic supplies.. luckily we figured that out fast!) we actually stayed in Poway, CA which is about 20 minutes outside San Diego. It ended up being nice to escape the city at night when we were done playing.
We went to the Padres/ Diamondbacks baseball game on Sunday. It was cold when we got there so I thought we were going to be miserable the whole time but it warmed up and the cloud cover ended up being very nice!
Monday we hit up the Mormon Battalion Museum which was awesome! I'm so glad we found it and had the chance to sit through the presentation. It is right in downtown San Diego so we ended up walking around all the cool shops!
Tuesday and Wednesday we went to Sea World! We decided to split the park into two days. I absolutely loved it! It was actually my first time seeing a whale, and it definitely didnt disappoint! Shamu just had a baby in February, and the little whale was part of the show( I love baby animals!) we got to see dolphins, beluga whales, a walrus, turtles, fish, and sharks. So fun!
Thursday we went to the San Diego Zoo! Although we had a great time, that place has a lot of hills! There was a giraffe that also had a baby the day we were there and we got to see the little baby giraffe! We lucked out!
Friday we went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.. It was fun to see more animals. We got to see a Cheetah run which was really neat.. 0-60 in 3 seconds! Those suckers are fast!
Saturday we went to the bay and toured the USS Midway. Such a cool piece of American history! Jaron said it made him feel old that a ship that was used in his lifetime is now a museum! The planes were awesome, we ate that up for sure! I was wishing my dad was there with me, he would have loved it!
We also took a little trip to the beach that day so Garrison could see the ocean for the first time. The ocean is always such an experience to me. It reminds me how amazing our Heavenly Father truly is and reminds me how small I am in the spectrum of things. So glad Garrison got to see it, we will take him back one day when he will remember.
Sunday we packed up and came home! Sad to leave but we had so much fun!
