Welcome to my blog!

I’m Mark, and I’m the nerd behind the ramblings here at spalanz.com. I like a lot of stuff, and I like to talk about it a lot, so why not run a blog where I ramble on about games, books, and more?

I started this back in 2014, and I’ve just kept going, really. I play a lot of board games, and a lot of card games, and a lot of miniature wargames, and I like to post a lot about each of them. I’m a massive Star Wars fan, a massive Warhammer fan, and I also enjoy Lovecraft, Marvel and all sorts of other bits and pieces, and my posts here reflect that. I talk a lot about the games that I play, and also the books I read. On the whole, there’s no schedule of events that governs what you can expect and when – I’m very much a guy with a day job, and as stuff grabs my attention I’ll be talking about it!

As far as possible, I try to keep things positive here, though I try not to come across too much like some kind of shill – there’s enough negativity online, after all! Most of my posts are around the games that I own and enjoy, though, so there is always a bias there! With the responsibilities of the aforementioned day job and family life, I’m not one of these board gamers who can continually keep up with all of the new releases – though when it comes to some games, I like to stay as current as I can! 

For a long time, the blog was a bit of a Warhammer Appreciation Page, as I filled pages and pages with my thoughts on the tabletop hobby! I’m a bit more mellow these days, and like to cover a range of things, including Star Wars related content of course. I’m a big Arkham Files fan, and play a lot of games like Arkham Horror and Elder Sign, so you can expect to see these come up often. I do also like dead games like the Star Wars LCG and Legend of the Five Rings LCG, so it really isn’t exactly keeping up with the latest new thing!

It’s very much the ramblings of a random guy who has some wide-ranging interests, but I hope you like what I have to say enough that you’ll stick around!
