Bathing beauties

Tonight we let Bryn join in the bath time fun for an extended period of time.  We've dipped her with the girls before since it's so much easier than getting a whole bath ready for just her, but this is the first time we got out the bumbo and let her play a bit.  They all had fun!

On the move!

Bryn is officially on the move!  She rolled over....and over...and over again last night when she was on the bed with Scott.  And then I finally got to see her moves this morning on the floor.  Like most babies, she gets pretty mad when she gets stuck on her belly.  Way to go Bryn!

Reading

Just want to document how well Kaitlin is doing on her reading.  She had been very good with her sight words since last fall, but never really showed much interest in branching out and attempting to read until about the past month or so.  Before that she would "read" to us in that she has an elephant's memory and probably has about 75% of the books we own memorized.  That always worried me though b/c I thought she would never really get the chance to truly read b/c she would just memorize, but I guess that worry, like most others, was for not.  She has really blossomed and can read several of the easy reader books with minimal assistance.  Tonight she read me the almost 30 page "Go Away Dog" book, and I only had to help her with "maybe"!  She works hard at sounding out words she doesn't know and is really excited about being able to read signs everywhere now.  As an avid reader myself, I am so excited for this world to open up to her!

Happy 3 Months!

Bryn turned 3 months old on Good Friday!  Such a sweet baby.  We had a tough few weeks at the beginning where you were quite colicky, but after we got you on some Zantac you seemed to get better.  It also took us a while to realize you don't like to be held like a normal baby (up on the shoulder).  You liked to be sitting up, as scrunched up as possible, facing out to see the world. You don't really have a set schedule yet, some nights you are in bed at 7pm, some nights you are up until 10.  You are pretty content though, as long as we have you facing out with your legs scrunched up into your tummy.  You are a great sleeper, perhaps that is because you rule our king sized bed.  You start out the evening in the bassinet, but after the first feeding I am usually too sleepy to remember to put you back.  You are an EXCELLENT cuddler and snuggle up to me all night long and I love it, even though my sleep suffers a bit for it since you like to be right up underneath me almost.

As evidenced by your weight gain, you are also an excellent eater.  You were 15lbs 11oz at not quite 3 months.  You are stubborn like your oldest sister though and still refuse to take a bottle.  Good thing I only go into work one day!  Poor Johanna is quite frazzled by the time I get home on Mondays.  You had one day that you took 3 oz from her, but usually she just shakes her head when I ask how you did.  But you're obviously not hurting for calories over here so I don't let it get me down.  Only 3 more months and you will start on solid food and it won't be so difficult to leave you for longer stretches.

Your sisters adore you and you them.  Claire's favorite thing is to call you "Bryn Tooter Head" and give you kisses on your feet and head.  Kaitlin loves to talk and sing to you and make you talk back to her.  You definitely are the most vocal with her, "talking" to her for long stretches, and you laugh the most for her too.  I think you look a lot like she did as a baby too.

We love you and are so happy to have you in our family!  Can't wait to watch you grow!

Disney on Ice

After another ear infection filled weekend, we ended on a high note and went and saw Disney on Ice Princess something or other on April first.  We got there after it had started and took our seats (front row!) during the "scary" part of the Tiana portion of the show.  I never understand why Disney has to always add some borderline psycho to their stories - the evil stepmother's, etc.  So of course Claire was scared b/c it was all the voodoo men and frogs right out of the gate for us, but thankfully Kaitlin had to go potty so we left and came back just in time for the beginning of Cinderella.  After that, Claire was entranced and loved the whole thing.  Both girls did, but maybe they just loved the nachos and glazed nuts and time where they could sit in my lap instead of Bryn.  Here are some pics.

Claire likes to have clips and headbands together.  All the cool kids do it.
