Rainforest Revisited…..progress

Such fun and a little head scratcher….I’m now on square #8 and can’t put this design down. You will notice that I’m working this project with my canvas turned sideways for stitching convenience. This is just a reminder to also turn your chart to the same direction you are stitching.
Using all Watercolors is always interesting to me. In square #6 I was sure the colors were so close to each other that a difference wouldn’t show…..wrong a value difference is very visible.
Back to stitching…….have a good day 😍
Rainforest Revisited
So excited to be back in my stitching groove. Rainforest Revisited is a Kathy Rees design. I was fortunate to get chart and all the threads on a destashing site. What a treat to have all the threads. The design size is 8” X 16”.

There are 32 squares to this project. Each square is 36 threads square. I carefully marked all the squares. It just makes it easier to know boundaries.

Square 1 was fun…..square 2 was a challenge. Squares within squares and each the mirror image of the one next to it. In reading the instructions I am glad to see squares that look like fun and some that I know will be a challenge.
I hope all of you are in your groove….Happy Stitching ❤️
Very Slow Progress
My Mindy canvas …….slowly, slowly. The “stitch” word I’m working on is being done in French knots using two ply of a thin wool. It makes a bumpy finish that will look cool when I get it done. I love doing French knots but they do take time for coverage.

My trip to North Carolina was great. Being a great-grandma is awesome.

It was Watson’s 3rd birthday and Walker Kate is 21 months old. I’m blessed
I didn’t take a stitch on this trip….but I could have if time had permitted. Always have a project with me when I travel…don’t you?
I’m thinking of starting a counted design to work on while I French knot myself to death. 😍🤪
Happy stitching 🙏
Stitch..Stitch…Stitch
Progress on this canvas is very slow. I really love this design but the black on black is very hard for me to do for long.
I did finish the olive green horizontal and vertical stripe. It is a very textured stitch combination and I love the look. The small black dots are just padded horizontal and vertical stitches. To the left of the green stripe the black blocks are diagonal long stitches in every other ditch. These will be couched….when I’m ready for more black on black.

I’m making a week long trip to North Carolina next week so I spent a day “playing” with my WIP small canvases and rediscovered a fun canvas I had picked up at a stash sale. It has travelled before and is almost finished so what better to take on my trip. When I travel I just have to have some project to take along. I may not stitch but if I want to I need to have that option.

This little girl is growing so fast….I’m excited to see her and her brother (my great-grandchildren) next week.

And Then It Was September
It’s been a month since I blogged. I don’t know where the time has gone. I did go on my European journey. It was awesome. The weather did not cooperate. It was hot 🥵 in the low to mid 90’s with humidity. Walking tours on cobblestones in the warm weather really took it out of me on a couple of the outing so I did opt out a couple of days to recoup. I spent those days stitching on my small ornament.

Upon arriving home I was exhausted ‼️ Flying over 10 hours west really was hard to recover from. My wake/sleep cycle was all screwed up and it took over a week to get back to “normal”.
I’ve been stitching the last week on my small ornament so I don’t have a photo for you…. It is finished and now I just hope to find a finisher that can have it done by the first of November.

Now I’m getting back to my Mindy canvas…..

I’m working on the olive green stripe on the left. Lots of spaghetti threads as I’m not tying anything off right now. I need more stitching done to tie off.

Summer is officially over…now to my favorite part of the year Fall ! Happy stitching…more soon 🤗
No Title 😃
Ever started cleaning one cupboard, open a drawer…..start cleaning the drawer, open the pantry……etc. That’s what we have here today. This little ornament was one of those “I just want to stitch” and design as I go projects. I started a few weeks ago. I used left over Watercolors, Royal Jewels (I think the name is something like that, no tag available). Scotch stitch is one of my favorite “just stitch” selections. This time I left a thread between the stitches.

I wanted my 8” Evertites for a travel project so I needed to complete this small project. So I needed to decide on the open threads. I changed the direction of the scotch at the mid-point. So needed to remember to make the same change for the tent used on the open thread.

Here is the finished ornament. Because the edges are finished differently (due to the direction change and the difference from side to side) I decided that the final orientation should be turned a quarter turn because I liked the look better. The diagonal edges are different, it’s a little hard to see. All this so I could put this together….

8 inch stretcher bars fit nicely in a gallon zip lock. The small 6” thread bag holds my chosen threads, stitching glasses, small scissors, needles and a threader. This is about as small as I can get for a carry along project. I’m heading to Prague on Tuesday, the beginning of an 7 day Viking River cruise with the pre cruise (2days) in Prague and the post cruise (2days) in Paris. I always carry a small stitching project with me. The few times I didn’t, I wished I had. The reason you are not seeing the small painted ornament I have framed up is, it’s a gift for a friend who I think follows my blog…..
I’ll share some of my trip when I’m home….until then Happy Stitching.
