Brinlee's Ambulance Adventure

This has been a big week for the stoddard family and emergency rooms. Last night after we put the kids to bed. Scott and I were cleaning the house. Scott had the baby monitor on and we were talking about Brinlee having a sore throat. When this horrific sound came from the monitor. When I heard this noise I thought it was interference from the monitor, it took me a couple seconds to realize it was my precious baby barking for air.

I ran into her room, swept her into the kitchen while taking her top off to see if she was retracting while breathing. She was while struggling to breath and cry. She started throwing up and choking. I told Scott we needed to take her to Phoenix Children's on Higley right away. He helped me load her up while I grabbed my things. I called my Mom on my way there and asked her to call them to make sure I was taking her to the correct place. When we arrived Brinlee was laboring for shallow breaths, the front office worker sent us straight to triage. The nurse there immediately started her on a breathing treatment and told me they had an ambulance on the way. It would arrive in 15 minutes. I told her after the breathing treatment I could drive there myself in a shorter time. The nurse said no, it was not safe for Brinlee to travel with out medical attention. My Mom arrived and was helping me hold Brinlee's hands down while I kept the mask over her face, she was not having it. Then she started to vomit again. Finally the breathing treatment was complete and instantly she was 100% better. She stopped crying, she was able to breath and even cracked a few smiles. They still insisted the ambulance transport us to Cardin's Children for steroid treatment and observation for a few hours. They came in and strapped Brinlee to the gurney, the Male medic Brian, was so in love with Brinlee after once flirty smile. She had him wrapped around her finger. (I'm sure it helped he just had his first baby in Jan) Once we were in the ambulance the female Medic was checking her vitals and going over the medicine and the effects. Meanwhile Brinlee was experiencing mood changes from the meds. She started out zoning and loopy, then she wanted nothing to do with me, and would look away. Then the next second she was smiling, holding my hand, trying to share her binky, and giving away smiles. Then the zoning and loopy started over again. We arrive at respiratory triage ER and they again took her vitals officially diagnosed her with croup administered the steroids and gave us a room to wait in while being monitored. About 2am we were released and able to come home. I'm so thankful for medicine and doctors.

Madi's Broken Arm

Today, Madison had a friend over after school to play. They decided to play king of the mountain on our love sack in the living room.

Madison lost.

Image
We went to the Phoenix Urgent care and took some x-rays

Image

Her elbow was hyper extended and had a couple fracture brakes.

Image

The next day we went to see the specialist and found that she just needed a case and no surgery thank goodness.

Image
Madison was really disappointed that she had to end her volleyball season early. Then her volleyball coach dropped off a get well soon candy poster that her team signed.
Madison loved it!

Christmas Day At Stoddard's 2010

Image

Santa and Mrs. Clause never forget to stop by Grandma and Grandpa Stoddard's before heading back to the North Pole. They all four work really hard together to make Christmas Day really special for all the kids and grand kids alike.
There are always comfy matching P.J.'s we get to wear( we love p.j.'s). A breakfast of plenty that is so yummy we all have at least two plates. Santa has the presents piled in order and separated by family and numbered (Mrs. Clause must have helped). Everyone has so much fun and it's so special to share with one another. We take family group pictures, play and then best of all...NAP TIME!! Merry Christmas!
