일본 정부의 집단적 자위권 행사 결정, 아베 신조 일본 총리의 고노 담화 검증 등으로 한·일 관계가 극도로 냉각된 시점에 서울 도심의 특급 호텔서 일본 자위대 창설 60주년 기념식이 열릴 예정인 것으로 알려졌다.

동아일보는 11일 오후 6시30분 서울 중구 을지로 롯데호텔 3층 사파이어볼룸에서 주한 일본대사관 주최로 자위대 창설 60주년 기념식이 열린다고 10일 보도했다.

일본대사관은 국내 정관계 및 경제계 인사·주한 외국대사관 관계자 등 500여명에게 초청장을 보낸 것으로 전해졌다.

never mind all the ooohs and aaahs over japan’s recent drive to militarization - the 60th anniversary of japan’s armed forces (self-defense force) is to be held in Lotte Hotel tomorrow, in the very heart of Seoul. 

and it will be crawling with dear leader’s cronies - korean fascists and old (colonial) money since that is what passes as “conservative” in korea. just like the 50th anniversary they had IN SEOUL, TEN YEARS AGO.

the very fact that they would think to brazenly do this in the old city center of Seoul, even under the current rise in tensions, basically a huge neon-colored FUCK YOU to the koreans they’re supposed to be representing.

this is real power.

Lotte Hotel cancelled, as far as I’ve heard, which is one step in the right direction, at least. Why the hell would they agree to host in the first place?

apparently, if you work for the gov’t in Korea right now, you can’t travel abroad in order to boost the Korean economy. The gov’t is invoking the Sewol tragedy to claim a crisis and to prohibit travel abroad for Koreans. “It is not your right to travel” is what the gov’t says. And according to the Korean Constitution it looks like the only freedom to move about the planet Koreans do have is “within Korea”.

they should have added the finishing touch:

“defectors and other non-patriots shall be punished”

They are doing this to make people uncaring about the tragedy. They are deliberately doing this to make people who are hurt and concerned about the tragedy isolated and to suppress government criticism.

I thought this was false… Am I missing something?
