Graduation was a two day event. Lucky for you, I only posted the fun parts of graduation. That way you get to skip all the long and boring portions of it. Saturday evening started with the Hooding, and was followed by dinner and a tour of the dental school. My good friend Dave who graduated the year before me came out to Milwaukee to hood me. You have to be hooded by someone who holds the degree you are receiving. The hood is the purple velvet sash around everyone's neck. Sunday morning was graduation with all of Marquette University. All of the individual "schools" were present. Every year the law school and the dental school compete to see who can make the most ruckus when they are conferred the degrees. This year the physical therapy school joined in with the fun. The undergraduates brought beach balls to throw around during the dry speeches. After the university graduation, we went to California Pizza Kitchen for some lunch. The last part of graduation took place in a fancy hotel downtown Milwaukee. We walked across a stage and received our diplomas. We enjoyed a slide show with lots of fun memories from dental school. And that..... was graduation. You see it is almost like you were all there.
As soon as we finished the last part of graduation, we headed back to my apartment to pack up all of my stuff. I sold most of the big stuff I had accumulated and then loaded up the rest. I only took what I could fit in my little red pickup truck. I don't know what I would have done without my mom, April, Tony, and Davo. After I was all packed up, Dave and I drove back to Utah. It took us 22 hours, but we beat my mom, April and Tony home. Their flights got in Monday at about 4:30. It is nice to be home and I look forward to all of the fun adventures that await me.
