Hawker Family Tradition

So I have been meaning to post this forever but with the Holidays being so crazy and all, I haven't been able to. Every year, my family gets together and we spend a day in either Park City or Salt Lake. We start at about ten in the morning and have my moms homemade cinnamon rolls (YUM!) then we draw each others names. This year instead of going up to Park City to find the gifts, went to Ikea and shopped around. Most of us had not been there yet and that place is HUGE! We decided to leave the kids at my brothers house with some babysitters. That way, they could have fun playing together and we could go shopping without them which let's face it, that's always nice! Then we went and picked up the kids and went to the movie and saw Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium which was okay, the kids liked it so that's good. Then every year, we go eat at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Trolley Square. The kids were able to see Santa while we were waiting for a table and that's always fun. Anyway, this tradition is one of my favorites and we always have so much fun.

I had to take a pic of this tree. We were down there when Salt Lake had that big snow storm and all of the trees looked like this. So pretty!

Hugs for Santa! He is so not afraid which is kind of nice but not as fun!

Trolley Square was offering free carriage rides that night so we took Dax on one. He loved it!

199 days to go - YIKES!

Okay, so that's kind of depressing and not to mention our baby still looks weird! I was hoping by now that it would look a little more normal. Anyway, things are going good. I had an appt last Wednesday and everything is going good so far. My doctor said that if I would have come in one week later he would have been able to tell me the sex of the baby. :( So that's kind of lame but my next appt is on January 3rd and he said I will be able to find out then so we'll see. The sickness is getting better, thank goodness, and I finally feel like I am getting back to normal. Anyway, just wanted to comment about the baby thing I added plus it has been a while since I posted anything!

Temple Square

We went down to walk around Temple Square last night. We have tried to go for the past couple years but it has never happened so this year we set a date and we went. It was sooooo cold and we forgot the stroller but other than that we had a lot of fun! Daxtons favorite part of the night was riding the elevator in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building but looking down on Temple Square from the top floor was pretty amazing.

I had my camera on the wrong setting so the pics didn't turn out great but if you click on each pic, you can see it better. Sorry, still learning!

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

I can't believe it! We finally got some snow! Granted, it wasn't a lot but hey - beggars can't be choosers! I really love it when it snows and we have not had any so when I looked out the window today and saw that it was snowing, I bundled up Dax and took him out to play in the little bit there was.

Image
Nice moon boots Napoleon!

Image

Image
Trying to catch snow flakes on his tongue! How does every kid naturally know how to do this?

Haircut Day!!

Nate gave Daxton a haircut today and I had to put these pics on to show off the new do! He always looks like such a little man when his hair gets cut. I look at these pics and it makes me sad how fast he is growing up and then I get so scared thinking about having a brand new baby to take care of. I swear, I have forgotten everything already.

Image

Image

Image
This kid is so dang entertaining, we are constantly laughing at his little quarks. (except for when he's nasty, then it's not so funny!)

Image

Some of you may be wondering why it is that you can actually see my pics now instead of blurred faces on fuzzy bodies............well, I got my Christmas present early and I LOVE IT!! I have been telling Nate forever that I wanted the canon rebel and I really didn't think it would happen but what a Christmas surprise. He gave it to me early so I could take all of our fun Christmas pics with it and not that piece of crap I was using! Anyway, I know some of you have this camera and if you have any tips about using it, I would really appreciate it!!

THANKSGIVING

So I know that I haven't done much with our blog lately (sorry, haven't been feeling too hot) but I thought I would at least write about our Thanksgiving. I didn't get any pics but so much went on! This year was Thanksgiving with Nate's family (we rotate every year) and we had dinner at his sisters house in Farmington. We spent most of the day there and stuffed our faces with some really good food including perogies which is a Sumko family tradition and sooooo good! Anyway, the best part was the day after. Every year I go shopping the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) with my sister and my mom (and sometimes Krystal when we can convince her!). It's tradition and we love it!! My cousin got married on Black Friday this year but that didn't stop us, we just had to get up earlier so we could be ready to go to the temple after our shopping extravaganza. Anywho, we got up at 3am this year!!!!! Crazy I know, but so much fun and so worth it! You should see us, we are running and dodging people and at one point this year my shopping cart was up on one wheel! We got everything we needed and there were no injuries so it was another success! So yeah, we had an awesome Thanksgiving and an even better Black Friday! :)

Jazz Game

We went to the Jazz game tonight and I had never taken our camera before so I thought it would be fun to get some shots of Nate & Dax in all their glory. Daxton gets so excited when we go and it is so fun to watch him yell for the Jazz. He loves it whenever the bear comes out and when the music comes on he busts a move!

Image

Image
Nate, Daxton & Thurl Bailey! Thurl Bailey used to play for the Jazz and we saw him walking around during half time. He touched Daxtons hair and told him that he liked his Andre Kirilenko hairdo. YIKES!! Nate was so excited I had our camera and he thinks this is the neatest picture we now own. Wow, my husband isn't obsessed with basketball AT ALL!

Girls Night Out!

So, this weekend was too much fun! I got together with my girlfriends from high school and we had a ball. We left the kids with our hubbies and we went and spent the night in Park City and went shopping at the outlets. It's always so fun to get together with these girls and we all needed a night out and away! We didn't get to sleep until 3:30 am and then we woke up at 7:30 am to get ready (sorry girls!) and I am still paying the price.

Image
Janae won the award for most original pj's! Not really but we had a lot of fun teasing her. ;)
Image
Image
This was the condo that we stayed at. Me, Katie & Stacee slept on the pull out couch and yes it was the most comfortable thing we ever slept on!!
Image
Helena getting ready at our sweet set up in the kitchen. The condo only had one bathroom so we had to get creative with the vanity areas.
Image
The whole group at the outlets! Sorry, the quality of pic is horrible.

The best part of the whole trip was staying up late and laughing about the remember whens (and yes a little humiliating as well)! I love getting together with my friends and I always leave wondering why we don't do it more often. Anyway, thanks girls for the night out - it was a blast!

and then there were four..........

Well, baby number 2 is on the way! I think I am about 8 weeks along and my first appt is tomorrow so I will know more then. It happened a lot faster than we thought it would (about two weeks after I got my IUD taken out) but when these babies are ready to come, they come! I have been pretty sick which everyone says is a good sign but I never got sick with Daxton so this is a whole new experience for me. I don't think Dax understands, when I tell him I have a baby in my belly he tells me he has a baby in his belly.
Anyway, we are so excited and feel so blessed that we are able to get pregnant and have kids! What a blessing it is to bring these little spirits into this world.

Trick - or - Treat

Here are some of the pics from Dax trick or treating! It just gets better every year and Dax was actually excited to go this year! He couldn't understand why he could only take one peice of candy each time so that was fun.

Dax with his cousins!

The hat didn't last long.

By the end of the night, he was wiped out! He kept saying to Nate, "I want to hold you daddy!"

FRIGHTMARES

We took Dax to Frightmares (Lagoon) today and no, amusement parks are not our favorite past time lately but we had bought the tickets before we left for our cruise/Disneyland! We thought after spending three days at Disneyland that Lagoon would be pretty disappointing but we were pleasantly surprised. They actually had a TON of stuff for Dax to do and he had a ball! Don't get me wrong, Disneyland kicks Lagoons trash! I was able to go on their new ride "Wicked" and it was so fun. I don't mind going on rides by myself, I have gotten used to it (poor Nate). Anyway, here are some of the pics of Daxtons first trip to Lagoon.

Image
Image
The three of us on the train ride. I had never been on that before and it was pretty neat. You see a ton of animals (bears, tigers, zebras, kangaroos, etc.) on the ride, it's like a short zoo trip!
Image
No idea who the kid in front is, it was the only seat left.
Image
Look at him big pimpin with his arm up.
Image
Me and Dax on the sky ride! I was kinda amazed at the rides he was able to go on!
Image
Image
So animated! He honestly does this stuff on his own and it just keeps getting better!
Image
This was Daxton's favorite ride. We went on it four times and every time it stopped he would freak out.
Image
Why are we taking the only family pic by a garbage can? Also, cute pic Aub! Could you look more hideous?

What a fun day!! Thanks Nate for taking us to Frightmares. I have the best husband ever - he hardly goes on any of the rides (cuz he gets sick) and yet he never complains. We love you babe!

Halloween Party

We went to a Halloween party at our friends house tonight and here are some of the pics from it! We are still supposed to be on our cruise so our costumes are kinda lame seeing as how we put them together last minute. Sorry the pictures suck, I HATE OUR CAMERA!!! Nate, that's for you! ;)

Image
Me as the 8o's chick!
Image
Just an upclose shot to give you a better look at the makeup! What's sad is this hairstyle is pretty close to my highschool hairdo - minus the ratted bangs and glitter. 1980 or 1998??
Image
Nate the pimp!!
Image
Dax the cowboy! I know I already have a pic like this on here but I had to show the posing. After watching Nate and I pose he did this all on his own. What a goofus!
Image
Cameron & Heather Jones! He's a preist and she's a pregnant nun!! (She really is prego and due in January.)
Image
Ben & Lisa Jones! They had name tags that said Jean on them so they are a pair of blue jeans.
Image
Steve & Alison Tiek! They were the characters from the movie Anchorman!
Image
Dave & Christine Gilbert! They hosted the party and Dave was Frankenstein and she was the bride.
Image
Justin & Helena Caldwell! Senor & senorita, so funny!
Image
The Sumkos!
Image
The whole gang! It's a miracle we got a group picture, it never happens.
Image
Boys playing the donut game. Guys went first then the girls went.
Image
Pretty self explanitory (and attractive)!!
Image
Nate & Ben having a moment! Notice the hand, weirdos!!

It was so fun to get together and see everybody, it has been a while! Thanks Dave & Christine, we had so much fun. And thank you Ben & Lisa for not bringing your kids, we didn't feel one bit stupid! :)
