October 2014/ Happy 4th Birthday Suri

Dear Suri,
This is a letter to remind you that you’re beautiful, should you ever forget. As you enter into your year of being 4, please always know that you are loved beyond your years and that no matter what life throws your way, you are and always will be, enough.
I hope you know that you are so incredibly beautiful first thing in the morning, your eyes fluttering awake at the first sign of light, arms begging to hold your lovey and favorite stuffie for just five more minutes. Your legs outstretched as you contemplate your first steps of the day. You beg to stay in bed for just 5 more minutes...
I hope you know that no matter how stuck you feel, your legs will always remember how to take the first step. Leaving is hard, but staying in the wrong place is harder. Let yourself walk away from anything that no longer makes you feel like you’re flying.
This is a letter to remind you that you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
Right this very second, shifting in your seat, lump in your throat, tears stinging the back of your eyes. You are here for a reason and you will discover that reason the moment you least expect it. You are here. You are alive. You are going to do so many wonderful things, and I can’t wait until the day that you see yourself through the eyes of those who love you.
This is a letter to remind you how capable you are.
You are magic. You are so much magic and stardust and moonlight howling affirmations. You can do anything you set your mind to and I hope you do every single one of those things. Don’t just follow your dreams, Suri, chase them. Find them. Catch them. Surpass them.
This is a letter to remind you that you are going to be okay.
Maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but you will. You will have days filled with okays, moments filled with not-okays, and a lifetime made up of so much more than okays. Chin up, eyes open, heart full. Remember why you are here. Remember why you started.
Remember where you are going, but don’t ever forget where you came from.
This is a letter to remind you that you are ready.
Shaky knees, trembling hands, and wobbly steps. If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough and you’ve never been one to back down from a challenge. Risk it all, jump off the cliff, dive headfirst (but not in the shallow end :-), Run. Run. Run.
Fly.
This is a letter to remind you that home is not a place.
Home is everywhere. Home is a smile, a smell, a hug, a feeling. Home is inside of your heart and it will be in every room you choose to let it in. Home is always with you, no matter how far away it feels. Make the whole world feel like home, and you will realize you are never alone.
This is a letter to remind you that you are loved.
Someday, when you are much older, you will lose at love, and it will hurt; but you will find greater love, and it will be worth the wait. Keep your heart open, even when it scares you to death — let it. Welcome those feelings, invite them to sit down and stay awhile; look fear in the eyes and tell it that you are going to love anyway. Trust in God and Please love anyway.
This is a letter to remind you that you are enough.
No matter where you have been, where you’re at, or where you’re headed, you are enough as you are. Close your eyes. Listen to my words.
You Are Enough.
You are worthy of love and happiness and butterfly kisses. You must accept this in your heart and remember it every single day. Your work in this world is just beginning, but please stop and smile. Be still. Breathe. Enjoy each and every new day.
You are and always will be, enough.

Happy 4th Birthday Suri Rose!

Suri was able to experience a magical entrance into her 4th year of life as we spent her birthday weekend at the Happiest Place on Earth... Disneyland and California Adventure! Suri, myself and her Dad left Arizona at approximately 10pm on Thursday and arrived sea side by 3:30 am... (yes, her Dad thought he was flying an airplane apparently!) We spent Friday at Huntington beach (or as Suri calls it, "the sea"), Saturday we were at Disneyland and Sunday, California Adventure. Suri was able to eat lunch with Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Tianna, and Rapunzel :-)  She rode tons of older rides like Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, the Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain and loved them!  We also experienced some lower key rides like Its a Small World and the teacups. It was Halloween time at Disneyland so the theme park was dressed for the occasion. Suri was the best little trooper throughout the whole weekend and is super proud to be 4!

We got off to a rough start as the truck had fuel injector issues that caused s to have to rent a vehicle for day - this is Suri waiting at the auto shop

thumbs down...
After we got the rental vehicle, we stopped at Freds to eat. She wanted to put her head through the face hole but she wasnt tall enough so standing next to it, had to suffice :)

It is still mind boggling to me that 4 years ago today, I was anxiously awaiting your birth. Holding you for the first time, looking in amazement at all of your hair, your tiny hands and ears... and now today... your confident, capable, articulate, full of energy little 4 year old self! It feels like a dream... I still can not believe my little girl is 4. Oh how I love you so and Im so looking forward to continuing this journey through life with you. Happy 4th Birthday sweet love. I love you more than you will ever be able to understand.

October has been a fun busy month for us. Suri had her 4 year check up, her first dance performance and her first field-trips of the new school year.

Suri spent Colombus Day with Aunt Lindsay and Jackson at Tolmacoff farm in Glendale.

How Suri prefers to use her bday present from Jackson... as a mask instead of target shooting!

Suri had another b-day celebration with Julie (2years old) at Bryson's new house in Gilbert.

Suri's 4 year stats:
Height:  44.5inches   (off the chart)
Weight: 47.6 lbs (97th percentile)

She received 4 vaccines and a nasal flu mist and didn't shed a tear!   Way to go brave Suri!!
Suri has had a healthy year with minimal respiratory distress episodes so far. Her Dr. gave permission to hold off on beginning her Pulmicort inhaler until Suri has a respiratory illness that lasts for longer than 1 week. Hopefully Asthma will not be for an issue for her this season!  Fingers crossed.

Stacy and Sarina (who is now going to be a big sister!) gave Suri a butterfly habitat for her b-day.  Suri got to watch her 5 little caterpillars evolve into butterflies!  Once all of them were butterflies, Suri took the habitat to school for show n tell and released them into Miss Mary's beautiful backyard!  Such a fun gift.
