We Left On A Jet Plane

This little girl and I

DSCN2542

left this hard working little boy

to get on a jet plane for Saratoga Springs, New York.

On a side note, the wooden item pictured above is a donkey pen. Some days its used as a dog pen, other days a cow pen. Its all about what the imagination gives us. Colt wanted one so he & Wes built it out of spare lumber. The wheelbarrow has been used to haul random items including a little sister.

Back to the jet plane.

We went to see this little guy.

Meet Harrison Waite Allen. His mom, Kristen Hillyer Allen and I have been best friends since we were 5 years old. She is an Alabama girl that married a upstate NY boy. He is a 5th generation dairy farmer with 3,000 head of cows (in case your husband asks).

Kristen and Aaron also have this spunky little girl

Georgia will be 2 in January.

Her big brother, Samuel will be 4 in March.

Our adventures with the 4 little ones in tow included the mall, restaurants, Target (really, can I stay away?), parks and walks. We had a great time but very happy to see our boys!

I have one more totally unrelated item. My college friend (do you label your friends too?), Amanda Morgan Roberson made this shirt for Colt.

She also has done paintings for us, Annie Grace's baby announcement and calling cards. Scoot over to her website to see more of her work!

Barrette Fret

Casey has started making barrettes for this squirrely-girley.

DSCN2496

This is her "why is that darn camera always in my face when I am playing" look.

The barrettes are simple felt with tedious stitching. Thats why Annie Grace is lucky to have an aunt like GG.

These are perfect to hold back a little hair. Not surprisingly, I'm not a bow kind of person (eek! Thats one more item I have to make match!) so these barrettes go with everything.

Annie Grace is crawling full force. She is cruising the furniture.

On a different note, hop over to Holly's blog and message her with your favorite soup. I've never been much of a soup person but I'm excited to try all of your recipes.

I have a confession. I love to cook but this is how it works these days:
1. I tear a recipe out of Southern Living, Southern Lady, Taste of Home or Cooking Light (see I love these things)
2. I spend way to much on ingredients (sure, we'll all need a $4 container of tarragon leaves, right?)
3. I get all the ingredients out on the counter and think I could be on a Food Network.
4. I am reminded I have a curious 10 month old that needs to be held and a 2 year old that asks a 2,394 questions.
5. I decide the baby could sit in the highchair with cherrios and toddler could be my helper.
6. The toddler dumps out the eggs "to see them go crash". The baby has more fun dropping cherrios on the floor.
7. I start losing my cool and fuss at everyone.
8. Wes reminds me that I try to do to much and get stressed (being a good wife, I don't fuss back....I just roll my eyes).
8. Is any food really good when everyone is pouting?

So! In my effort to keep my blog real, there you go. In closing, I took some time off work (aka kids at school) and baked delicious pumpkin bread last week. Yummy!
