Shorty

Short post today. Not because life is calm but because I didn't take many picture over the weekend.

Mom & Dad were having a problem with donkey escaping (I think the real problem is 17 donkeys but no asked me). Saturday the boys rebuilt the fence. One day I need to tell you about our llama, Winston, chasing the UPS truck. Winston came to live with us as a baby. Dad took me, Casey, Kristen & Rozi to pick him up (we were like 13, 14 & 15). It was raining so dad made us ride in the back of the truck (he tied a tarp over us) and let Winston ride in the front seat. We rode like this for 2 hours! Okay, I am rambling but full of hilarious stories.

Dad decided to ride Big Red after the fence project. He also bought a trampoline for the kids.

After church on Sunday we headed to the lake. Everyone got a turn at the tube.

We stayed at the lake until Monday afternoon when we drug ourselves back to reality!

Opening

I am sorry if I've done each of you a disservice. When I try to look at my blog through a reader's eyes, I see a cute a family that does fun things and has it all together. Please don't be fooled by the few snapshots you have of our lives.

At Sunday School yesterday we had a great discussion and referenced many verses (if you are in my class, you know "many" is very accurate!) on Why Bad Things Happen To Good People. I love to tell our story and always appreciate contributing my thoughts on this subject. I want to share a few things I believe:

* God doesn't categorize us as bad or good people. In Isaiah he talks about His ways are higher than our ways. We can't compartmentalize God and consume ourselves with trying to figure everything out.

* Tough times bless us more than we realize. My marriage is stronger because we've been through a fire. At at make-or-break point, its up to the individual who they will place their trust in.

* We can use hard time to minister to others. As a Christian, everything I say and do is a reflection of Christ's presence in my heart. In 2 Corinthians, we are commanded to comfort others. That can be a simple note, a meal, gift card, flowers, charity donations or a phone call.

* God is still God no matter what we are going through. I remember one of the first times we returned to church after Evie died and the congregation sang "God is Good All the Time". Wes and I couldn't sing it. Today we can.

If you haven't been through a tough trial, don't think you are immune because you are good. Jesus instructs us in John to not be surprised by the trails we are facing. Only Jesus can overcome.

Okay, now for some pictures with lots of smiling faces!

Trucks & Prom

Saturday we had Touch-A-Truck in downtown Opelika. This was the first year that Colt really enjoyed the event. Its very loud and probably overwhelming for small children. We had a great turn-out for trucks and children.

This is a dragster that is used in races- so I'm told.

The driver fired it up at the end of the event. Fire and smoke came out of the engine. I was most concerned about the glass in the shop windows. Some were shaking pretty hard and replacing those was not in our budget!

Annie G enjoyed this vehicle the most.

This was Casey's mother's day present and I'm wondering if AG wishes Casey would adopt her. The yellow streak across the picture? Oh, thats just my son trying to hit everything and everyone with his new ruler. The yellow ruler didn't make it home.

Later that evening Wes and I attended the Mayor's Ball, or prom as Wes labeled it. Wes decided to take a quick (& only) picture for Heath before we left home.
Prom
If you know me & Wes (or if you follow the blog), you know we are not really in to getting dressed up. An hour before this picture I was putting mulch out around my daylillies and Wes was building a gate for our porch. It was a fun event though.

My Day

Ever had a day like this?

I'm ready to see lots of these at the lake this summer

Paying Attention

Wes decided if this "government thing" doesn't work out, at least we'll be able to eat.

Sugar Snap Peas- garden
Carrots- garden
Meat in sauce- deer Wes killed
(The pasta & sauce are store bought. I'm sure homemade is delicious.)

Why can't everyone look at the camera at one time?
