Summer 2014 Catch-up

Hiking to Timpanogas Cave.  The kids did surprising well!  Cameron and Riley both walked the whole way!

We took Jameson and Ric to Snowbird for their birthdays.  We had a great day riding a few rides, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

On Blessings

I had a special little experience with Cam today.  He worked really hard to earn points for the Mom store so that he could "buy" a spiderman water bottle, that he had had picked out for a few weeks.  Today was the day-he cashed in his points and bought the beloved bottle.
One short hour later, he couldn't find the bottle.  He looked all over the house-no luck.  Matt and I knew he was stressed about it, so we looked all over the house-no luck.  Then, simply because we knew a water bottle couldn't get up and walk off the table, we looked even harder.  I was digging through the toy box, searching the cupboards, under the beds, outside-anything I could think of. Between the 3 of us, we combed the house a good 7 times.
Cam was feeling pretty sad, so I sat down to talk with him.  I tried to help him remember where he might have taken it, and he just couldn't remember.  I told him that sometimes when I lose things that are important or special to me, I ask Heavenly Father to help me find them.  His sweet little eyes lit up and he said, "that's a good idea!  I'm sure that will work!"
Cameron said a sweet prayer, asking Heavenly Father to help him find the bottle, because it was really, really special to him and said amen.  He immediately jumped up and said, "Mom, you look on the bottom floor, and I will look on the 2 upstairs floors!"
I walked off, saying a little prayer of my own, that my little guy's faith might be rewarded.
I was looking through the office, and had been in there no more than 30 seconds, when Cam came running to me, holding his bottle.
"Mom!  I went straight to the couch after we prayed, and decided to look under it--it was there!"
Ironic that he would suddenly think to look there?  This was a room that the boys never play in-it's our "nice" room.  I talked to him about why he might have decided to look there.  We discussed that the Holy Ghost sometimes gives us ideas that help us.  We decided to say a little prayer to thank Heavenly Father.  It was a special experience for both of us.

SCC

I was able to get together with my dearest friends from high school.  We sure missed Lauren and Nikki, but it was so much fun to catch up, see each others' kids, husbands, significant others and to laugh about some good old memories.  I sure love these girls!

Zions

My brother and his family have purchased some land just outside of Zions National Park, to eventually put a cabin on someday.  They invited us down to check it out.  We were impressed!  It's beautiful down there, and it is really close to the park.  We hung around camp and spent time in the Narrows.  The boys turned into little mountain men and loved climbing trees, throwing rocks, and any other manly thing you can imagine.  It was a little tough with Micah, but he was quite the trooper, and made it as pleasant as possible.  And, he is a darn cute little camper!

Parades

Our family had the chance to be in the Days of '47 Youth Parade.  Despite being hot, they had a good time and waved at everybody along the parade route.  I even got interviewed on tv! Hopefully I didn't look too ridiculous.  Our float was about the Book of Mormon, so our family dressed up like missionaries.  It was so hot that I wanted to modify the costumes a bit, and they ended up being cute.  Everybody said we looked like we were representing the Polynesian Mission.  Grandma April, Grandpa Gene, Grandpa Ric, Grandma Nancy, and Jameson came to support the boys, which they loved!
The boys also loved the family festival at the end of the parade.  Micah and I headed home, but Matt and the boys stayed for hours-face painting, jumping on bounce houses, and building.  What a great day!

We also went to the 24th of July Parade the next week.  This has become a family tradition that we all enjoy!  This time it was fun to have Grandma Nancy join us!
