I had a special little experience with Cam today. He worked really hard to earn points for the Mom store so that he could "buy" a spiderman water bottle, that he had had picked out for a few weeks. Today was the day-he cashed in his points and bought the beloved bottle.
One short hour later, he couldn't find the bottle. He looked all over the house-no luck. Matt and I knew he was stressed about it, so we looked all over the house-no luck. Then, simply because we knew a water bottle couldn't get up and walk off the table, we looked even harder. I was digging through the toy box, searching the cupboards, under the beds, outside-anything I could think of. Between the 3 of us, we combed the house a good 7 times.
Cam was feeling pretty sad, so I sat down to talk with him. I tried to help him remember where he might have taken it, and he just couldn't remember. I told him that sometimes when I lose things that are important or special to me, I ask Heavenly Father to help me find them. His sweet little eyes lit up and he said, "that's a good idea! I'm sure that will work!"
Cameron said a sweet prayer, asking Heavenly Father to help him find the bottle, because it was really, really special to him and said amen. He immediately jumped up and said, "Mom, you look on the bottom floor, and I will look on the 2 upstairs floors!"
I walked off, saying a little prayer of my own, that my little guy's faith might be rewarded.
I was looking through the office, and had been in there no more than 30 seconds, when Cam came running to me, holding his bottle.
"Mom! I went straight to the couch after we prayed, and decided to look under it--it was there!"
Ironic that he would suddenly think to look there? This was a room that the boys never play in-it's our "nice" room. I talked to him about why he might have decided to look there. We discussed that the Holy Ghost sometimes gives us ideas that help us. We decided to say a little prayer to thank Heavenly Father. It was a special experience for both of us.
