Kayla's First Day of Preschool

Image
I just dropped Kayla off at her first day of preschool, and I am so sad! (sniffle, sniffle) I was up late worrying about sending her, and then kept waking up worrying, and then woke up early worrying! I think Kayla was excited to go to school, but she also kept asking me about the bus. So I think it was the bus she thought she would get to ride on to get to school. I told her teacher that I was so nervous but she assured me everything would be fine - which I'm sure it will be!

Meanwhile Jaida is having the time of her life in kindergarten! The bus is one of the most exciting parts about going! She really likes her teacher, they had a fire drill the other day, and she just loves everything about school. The hardest part for me has been trying to get her to do her simple homework. I spent 30 minutes last night trying to get her to write two lines of lower case a's and two lines of upper case A's. I certainly hope this trend doesn't last long. It takes almost just as long to get her to practice writing her name five times! She is used to writing her name in all caps and gets really stubborn and angry when she has to do it in lower case letters.

Good luck to my little ones in school today!

Jaida Starts Kindergarten

Image
Jaida started kindergarten today! We were all so excited. She got up at 7:00am, took a shower, ate breakfast, finished her homework, took some photos, and headed out to the bus stop.

As she was getting on the bus Kayla started crying saying, "Jaida, don't go". By the time the bus was moving Kayla was bawling her eyes out and reaching for the disappearing bus. She didn't stop crying until we got inside the house.

When Jaida got home she couldn't remember anything she did at school. We had to play 100 questions to get the tiniest of information out of her. She did have fun though, and I sure hope she likes school since she'll be going for a LONG time.

VACATION

Image
Wow, it's been so long since we've gone on a vacation. Monty and I finally went on one and had a blast!!! We had a four day stay in Miami, and then cruised out of Miami hitting Key West and the Bahamas. We were actually supposed to go to Cozumel but because of Hurricane Dean we were re-routed. The cruise was awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Jaida and Kayla stayed at Misty and Tim's, the Fielding's and the Sitthichai's. A huge thanks to Judy who took the entire week off of work to help watch the kids.

We all had so much fun but are very glad to be home too. Although I could use my own personal chef and someone to first make and then turn down my bed at night. ;)

Suzanne and Quinn get hitched!

Image
Suzanne and Quinn got married last week. It was awesome! They had an open house Wednesday night and then were sealed in the Manti Temple Thursday morning. After the sealing we had a ring ceremony and luncheon. The week before the wedding Suzanne wrote a song for Quinn, got all the music arranged, and sang it at the luncheon. It was awesome - I'll have to post lyrics, maybe, if I get them. There seriously was not a dry eye in the house.

Soccer Girl

Image
We signed Jaida up for soccer this year. Isn't she so cute? ;)

I know I made a post previous to this, but it is not here. It must be because blogger did some rearranging?

Anyway, Jaida loved to go to the soccer games, and LOVED to watch her shadow. She'd run down the field at the back of the pack looking over her shoulder watching her shadow do jumps and pointed toes and whatever else it could do.

Luckily Misty videod her last game so we've got some footage.

At her first soccer practice we had to have a couple of talks because she kept wanting to just kick, and kick, and kick the ball. I'd have to run after her with Kayla in my arms and steer her back to where the team was. One time she picked up the ball and the coach said, "Jaida, don't pick up the ball use your feet." She got all huffy puffy and stomped off with her arms folded. I had to go after her again and we had to have a little "talk". She had lots of fun so maybe we'll try it again next year. Monty really wants her to get into softball, so I'm sure we'll do that too (and have many more talks).

Jaida in the ER

Image
What a last couple months! Almost a month after Monty had to go to the ER I went in to the ER for a miscarriage (I don't think I will ever describe that on my blog). A couple weeks later Jaida had to go in for a dog bite. Our nice, sweet, people loving dog, Rocky, bit Jaida at least four times on the upper lip. Monty took her into the ER about 10pm and they were there just a few hours. She received 11 stitches? They are out now, and healing nicely, and we still have Rocky.
