White Christmas 2012

What a WONDERFUL Christmas the Zimm Twins had, as Christmas day brought SNOW... again.   Only a few years back, the Zimm Twins (along with their parents) experienced their 1st White Christmas and AGAIN THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!   How exciting!

The Holiday Season has been packed with performances and visits to Santa, Santa Cow, Mrs. Claus and more.   On December 16th, the Zimm Twins performed at PRCofC for the Annual Congregation Christmas Party.  This time, Kate was featured as a solo!!!   Santa made his final visit to Arlington that night.
Later that week, Doug & Kate sang at the PR Children Center Christmas Program, again, Kate was featured as a special reading.
And the last performance of the Season, The Zimm Twins sang during Church on December 23rd.
After a nice visit with family at Uncle David's house on Christmas Eve, and a stop at the Big House for a few more packages, the Zimm Twins hurried home for an early night waiting for Santa.
Santa was good to the Twins again this year, including a leaf blower for Doug and 3 new Princess Dolls for Kate at our house.
When we arrived at the Big House (GParent's house), Santa had made a HUGE stop there, where he brought Kate new outfits for her American Girl Dolls and a John Deer Tracker for Doug!

December 25th - White Christmas
The Zimm Twins enjoyed Christmas but the best present at Christmas (according to Kate) was being with our Family.
God Bless Our Family and Friends and Happy New Year!

Christmas - German Style

Friday night, November 30th - the Zimm Twins took Mom, Dad and GParents to the German Christmas Market, "Christkindl" at the Ballpark.

Doug liked Father Christmas

Kate wondered if this is the REAL Santa because he had a different hat!

We saw the Christmas Angel (Doug didn't like her) and Father Christmas (Kate didn't like him)!   We heard a good brass band and ate good German food.  Doug really enjoyed his 'crunchy hot dog', aka bratwurst.

Fall 2012 - Getting Ready for Christmas!

Well, our Mom did it again...  she hasn't posted anything for the past 3 months.   We have been busy, but Mom didn't take the time to tell everyone about our adventures.   SO, we will try to review:
Image
September began the Zimm Twins new career as PreK students.   Still at Park Row Children Center, Kate and Doug switched to Monday/Wednesday/Friday class this year.  Ms. Hudgens is our teacher M/W and Ms. Amy is our Friday teacher.   We have made new M/W friends and some of our T/Th friends from years past joined us on our day switch.   So far, this has been a great year.

In October, we celebrated Dad's 40th birthday and transformed into Jake and Issy from Disney's Jake and the Neverland Pirates for Halloween.   Sunday before Halloween, we won 'best trunk' at PR's Trunk or Treat when GDaddy borrowed Mr. Windles guppy boat.   With a bit of help from the GParents, we made the guppy into Jake's Bucky Pirate Ship.

The first week of November, The Zimm Twins took their GParents on an adventure drive to Corpus Christi!  Mom attended a convention, so Kate & Doug took this opportunity to make their first trip to Corpus (as Doug calls it, Corpus City)!   We spent Wednesday-Sunday in CC, having a nice visit with Aunt Barbara and a fun trip to the Texas State Aquarium.  The condo our Great-Grandparents owned is still there in downtown.  We took a picture in front of the front doors as a commemoration of our trip to where Mommy enjoyed her childhood summers.   In addition, we took this time to make our first visit with Santa this year... in shorts and palm trees!!!
ImageImageDoug found his first 2 girlfriends while on the trip, Mom's teacher friends Amanda and her friend Cassie.  Doug was the man of the weekend with girls on both arms!
We visited our favorite pumpkin patch (First Christian Church) for a few photo opportunities and then again for our Thanksgiving photos!
Image
This week, we celebrated Thanksgiving with our annual Family Brunch.   Gmama made a great breakfast!   After a turkey lunch and nap, we finished the weekend at Prairie Lights where we saw the most amazing Christmas light display!
Here's hoping Mom will do better updating the blog during the Christmas season..

The Zimm Twins have been SO busy the months of May/June/July.  A lot of traveling, a lot of visits with old friends and good adventure.   A brief overview of the last few months: 3 months = 4 states!
Memorial Day Weekend, the Zimm Twins traveled to College Station for the Peterson Family Reunion.  Kate and Doug had a great time playing with the big boys and girls.
In June, the Zimm Twins hardly stayed home!   A weekend trip to the Texas Hill Country found the Zimm Twins in Fredricksburg for good German food and a strange drive through the famous Luckenbauch, Texas.   Kate & Doug met Gmama's childhood friend, Sherri Lynn Pugh VonBriesen for dinner in Austin and a quick shop at the Coop!
Kate and Doug made their way for their first Dentist appointment in June.  They both did great as they walked themselves to the dentist chair and had xrays and cleaning.  Their new dentist reported everything looked great!  Keep brushing and flossing.
During the middle of the month, Jayla Peterson came for a weekend visit on her way from Denver to Austin.
Swim lessons began at UTA.  Every morning from 8-9am, The Zimm Twins swam in the olympic size swimming pool and even jumped off the dive in 16 feet of water...

The Fouth of July brought the Zimm Twins to the Arlington Independence Day Parade.  This was the first time the Zimm Twins went to the parade rather than watching on t.v.  After the parade, Kate and Doug hosted their annual party at the Big House!
ImageJuly was busy with a lot of travel:  first the Zimm Twins made a quick trip to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas for a memorial service.  Long time family friend, Norman McNiel, passed away and Sunday, July 1st took the Zimm Twins to Arkansas.
July 8th took Kate and Doug to a day trip to Waco, Texas!
July 10th and 11th, The Zimm Twins spent the two days in Oklahoma City.  The evening was spent at Bricktown, riding the riverboat and eating at Toby Keith's I love that Bar & Grill!!!  (Lots of fun)    An unexpected trip to the Oklahoma City Science Museum turned out to be LOTS of fun.   The museum was cool and full of a lot of good stuff to play with.  Kate and Doug went up the 3 story tree house, played with air and pingpong balls then watched GMama try a segway for the first time!!!
After staying in Arlington for a week, it was time to leave town again!  The Zimm Twins took GMama and GDaddy, Mom and Dad to Lake Palestine, just south of Tyler, Texas.   This was a very different vacation for Mom and Dad... not as busy as DisneyWorld, but very nice and relaxing!   GDaddy took the boat, so the mornings were spent on the water, watching Mommy and GDaddy waterski and Daddy wakeboard or fishing.  The afternoons were spent resting, playing games, going to the swimming pool, playing on the playground and Doug/GDaddy playing a bit of miniature golf.
One day, the family traveled to Louisana where Daddy hit a bit at the casino!   Kate and Doug were able to meet Daddy's Aunt Linda, Aunt Joy & Uncle Dee for the first time.  A nice dinner was spent and dessert/visiting.
August is  now upon us and although the Zimm Twins have no immediate plans to travel... you never know about us!!!

Kate at Dance Camp

Saturday, April 28th, Kate attended the Seguin High School Dance Camp with her friend, SHS Freshman, Niki.  At first, Kate cried and was shy, but after the dance instructors forcing Mom out; Kate calmed and met new friends!

Kate spent the morning dancing, coloring and eating pizza.   Then at the end of the day, the Preschool group performed a short dance to "Lion King's I just can't wait to be king".   Kate did a lot of dance and cute wiggles!

Bluebonnets 2012

Image
ImageImageImage
A few weeks ago, the Zimm Twins took the family to Benbrook where a pretty patch of Bluebonents were growing. The sun was a bit bright and but after a few minutes in the tall bluebonnets, both Doug & Kate put on their photography faces, said 'cheeeeese' and enjoyed an afternoon playing. Toward the end of our playtime, Kate discovered a ladybug on one of the Bluebonnets. The Zimm Twins were amazed at the pretty ladybug that flew and would land on a flower for them to look at!ImageImage

4 yr old Birthday

ImageImage
WOW, another year... how times flies by... The Zimm Twins are 4!
Saturday, March 31st, the Zimm Twins had a full day of Birthday. The exciting day began with Doug's T-ball game at 9am. Doug did a great job and even scored a run!!!
The Zimm Twins celebrated with their friends at the Little Gym. ImageImageWe all had a lot of fun as we ran, sang, flipped and bounced! Image The Little Gym always does a nice job of entertaining the little ones. Our friends sang Happy Birthday to the Zimm Twins and we all ate cupcakes together!Image
After a quick nap, The Zimm Twins had their annual Birthday dinner at the Big House (aka: Gmama & Gdaddy's house). The entire family was there for a good noodle dinner and cake. The night ended with what has become a family tradition (?)... hitting pinatas outside!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE & DOUGImageImage Image ImageImage The Weekend ended Sunday when Mom took us to a Tea Party... well, it didn't go as planned but the thought was nice. Kate 'freaked' out when she saw the lady putting nail polish on the girls. Kate didn't like the princess dress and proceed to cry. Doug was suppose to have a mustash painted on, but he too 'freaked' about the lady with paint. We did manage to enjoy the scones, but the thought of 'Giggle Tea' made Kate very scared. There was no sitting in the carriage or in the Princess Chair. Oh well... Overall, it was a WONDERFUL and memorable 4th Birthday!
