Val at 15 months

7 Feb

Valerie had her 15 month check-up today. It was perfect timing too because now that her ear infection is gone as well as her nasty medicine which caused her to have bad diarrhea which caused her to have a bad diaper rash. Now she has a yeast infection so we were able to get a prescription for it to clear up. Poor baby. She didn’t even cry much for her shot, she was mostly annoyed they put a bandaid on her leg and kept trying to get it off.

Here are her stats: weight 19.4 (23%) and height 32 inches (91%). I have been worried that she is too skinny and try to beef her up but the Dr. said that she is gaining % each visit. For example, at 9 months=15%, 12 months=18%, 14 months=20% and now 15 months=23%. So I guess she is doing all right.

She is a lot of fun and loves to be a girl, like wearing hats/bows/masks/tutus/shoes/jewelry. She also loves reading books, talking on the phone, being chased and thrown in the air. She says quite a few words and sings when she is in the car (but I don’t really know what she is singing).

We just love having this girl in our family!!

Helper Baby

2 Feb

We were just about to take away Valerie’s pacifier (I’ve been dreading it) and she got a really bad ear infection. The Dr. said there was pus and everything. Poor baby. So we decided to definately wait until she was better. She was given augmentin as an antibiotic and I do not like that stuff. It smells horrible and I have to hold her down and force it down her throat. It gives her really bad diarrhea and so her poor little bum is sooo sore and then to make it all worse she had a lovely side effect that made us think she was having an allergic reaction. She had a rash all over her body. The good thing is she is feeling MUCH better and is happy again and sleeping better than ever.Image

She loves to help Mommy do everything. And those of you with kids know that she doesn’t really help that much but I’ll take all the help I can get.She is just so cute!ImageImageImage

Even though she is feeling better I need to psych myself to get rid of this pacifier now…….

Yum!

Valerie is at such a fun age right now. She loves to play, laugh, read books, talk on the phone, wrestle around and play with her stuffed animals and babies. She is such a happy girl so we are having lots of fun with here lately.ImageImage

Drew has been having a rough time lately. He must be feeling jealous and left out because he acts like a baby all the time. He talks like a baby, crawls around, makes a little bed on the living room floor, and does this weird little pout thing with his lips. I have been trying to give him some extra one-on-one attention but it doesn’t seem to help much. He also has been quite mean to Valerie and will push her down and take things from her for no reason. When I ask him why he did it he says that it’s beacuse he wants me all day long. Oh boy, do I have a momma’s boy!

Until this past weekend we have been enjoying pretty nice weather. They all have been playing outside a lot and I keep wishing that this is how winter is going to stay and then spring will be here soon. But…..it’s been raining/snowing all weekend so I now know that that was just a silly dream.ImageImage

We are so lucky to get to see Shannah and her girls every other weekend and the kids just love playing with them.ImageImage

New Year’s Resolution

1 Jan

Happy 2012!! I have quite a few new year’s resolutions this year and I am determined to stick to them. One of them is to keep up with this blog. I don’t know why I have not been motivated to do it AT ALL since we moved to Carson City. But I think once I start doing it then I will enjoy it again.

We had a very fun Christmas and then a good trip to Las Vegas to see my side of the family. Dylan was sick with the flu the whole time we were there so that was a little stressful for me. His blood sugar numbers were crazy and unpredictable while he was sick but he is better now and it’s nice to get things back in control.

Drew started sunbeams today and was very excited to go. Apparently, Dylan was also really excited to have Drew in primary now and they had to be moved to opposite sides of the room because they kept talking to each other. They said that Drew did very well but seemed a little nervous. He gets shy when there are a lot of people around but I think he will warm up to his teacher and primary quickly. His little friend, Hannah, is in his class but she was sick today. I think he will really enjoy having her sit by him in class.

Valerie is walking all over the place and is doing pretty well with giving up the bottle. She drinks good from sippy cups and loves regular cups with straws as long as we help her not to spill it. Next up is getting rid of the pacifier but I don’t think I am ready for that. Our goal is at least by 18 months to have it gone. The hard part with no bottle is that she doesn’t drink as much milk as she used to and with her being a picky eater it is hard to get her to eat. She eats lots of fruit and crackers.
