At least they are cute…

Milestone-She Rolls

Seriously.  We had begun to wonder if Lauren would be the only kid in kindergarten unable to roll from her stomach to her back.  The doctor assured us it would happen and he was correct…as usual.

Apparently the fact that Lauren loathes “tummy time” has played a large role in her delayed rolling.  We’ve made her spend more time on her stomach (and endured a little more whining and crying), but it seems to have done the trick.

Way to go Lauren.  We knew you could do it…or at least we strongly suspected…

Happy Birthday Grammy!

Mom's birthday

While Lauren and I were in Odessa we celebrated mom’s birthday.  A little Barn Door, a little carrot cake, a few presents, family.  It was very nice.

Happy Birthday Mom/Grammy!  We LOVE you!

Landry Kate

Tosha and Landry My very best friend (since 4th grade) had her sweet baby girl on August 13th.  I can’t tell you how excited I am that Tosha had a little girl.  Obviously Lauren and Landry are destined to be bosom buddies.

I got to spend a little time with Phil, Tosha and Landry this past weekend.  Landry Kate is absolutely precious.  Her little features are so delicate and sweet.  I love her already…and I’m positive by the way she gazed into my eyes with her own beautiful blue eyes, that she feels the same.

Thank you Lord for sweet Landry Kate.  Thank you for Phil and Tosha.  Please be with this precious family.

Baptist Vegas

I mean Branson, Missouri.

We packed up the swagger wagon and took the family to Branson over the Labor Day weekend.  We met Bryan’s parents as well as his grandmother for a fun weekend away.

The girls enjoyed time with the grands and Bryan and I enjoyed some time sans children.  The whole family enjoyed a trip to the Butterfly Palace and some fun at an arcade/go cart place.  We ate good food, watched some football and just relaxed.  A great time was had by all!

Big thanks to Carol and Jerry for the invite and the wonderful condo!

Six Months of Lauren

Half a year folks!  I can hardly stand it!

six monthsWe visited Dr. S and he confirmed what we strongly suspected…Lauren continues to get more wonderful! She weighs 18 pounds and 13 ounces (85%), is 24.5 inches in length (50%) and her princess crown is 16+ (50%).

Lauren has four teeth.  Two on top and two on bottom.  The teething process has been a little painful…for both of us, but we are hoping the worst is over.  She has started to enjoy some oatmeal for breakfast and assures me she is looking forward to trying other yummy foods soon! (I’ve been in no hurry to start her on solids, but hate to put it off much longer just because I’m lazy. That girl watches us eat like a hawk.)

Lauren’s current favorites are: sitting up, flapping her hands and wiggling her fingers around, milk, bath time, being entertained by her sister, milk, cuddling with Daddy in the morning, chewing on anything she can find and not letting Mommy out of her sight.

My favorites: her toothy smiles, how she likes to rest her forehead against your forehead, seeing her watch Hayden so intently and imagining all the fun they will have together, cuddling all her sweet little rolls, the surprised and then disgusted expression on her face when she leans forward just a little too far while sitting up and ends up on her tummy…which she hates, and having her reach her little arms out for me to hold her--this makes me totally melt inside. (as do these pictures…)

IMG_9059 IMG_9062 IMG_9057IMG_9063IMG_9068IMG_9043We are loving this cuddly age and trying to enjoy her being stationary.  We know that very soon she will be on the move! Can hardly stand how quickly she is growing!  Tap the brakes please.

Lord, thank you for our sweet Lauren Elizabeth. We love her so very much and pray that she continues to grow into a healthy and loving little girl!
