Ongoing Lessons…
Hayden, “Those are mine.”
Lauren, “MINE".”
Hayden, “Those are mine!”
Lauren, “MINE!!!”
Hayden as she walks away,”They can’t all be yours, they’re GOD’s!”
The lesson to love each other more than things is ongoing…for all of us!

Hayden the Lyricist
Hayden sang us an original princess song the other night after dinner.
It went something like this.
“A princess is kind. She doesn’t hit. She doesn’t push. She has the shiniest dress...”
I don’t think she has ever actually seen any princess movie besides Tangled. I like that she equates good character with the princesses…and good taste in clothes.

Overheard while taking shelter…
An afternoon of thunderstorms and tornado sirens means pillows and such in the hallway and way too much food and TV. The following things were overheard during the fun…mostly because I said them all…
“no, we are not taking off our pants!”
“why are you wearing my high heels?”
“try to keep the crumbs in your hands.”
“try to eat all the crumbs off the carpet.”
“don’t worry about the crumbs. we will vacuum after the storms”
“didn’t I ask you to take my shoes back to my closet?”
“put your pants back on!”
“the three little bears isn’t supposed to scare you…”
“when is daddy coming home?”
Seems like all the crazy weather has passed us by. Thanks for all the concerned texts, FB messages and phone calls.

Soccer Saturday
Lauren and Daddy watched some soccer this morning while H. and I ran an errand. I think they bonded over several Arsenal goals.
GOOOAAAALLLLLL!

First Day of Preschool
Hayden is attending our local rec center for preschool on Friday mornings. We are easing into this school thing slowly…
Lauren sure does miss her while she is gone.
And while I do get a break, I am very happy to pick her up at noon! Can’t believe my oldest baby is growing up so quickly!

Hopefully Practice Makes Adequate
I make no claims to being crafty, but there is a part of me that wants to make some keepsake things for the girls. My mom made an Easter dress or two for me (sorry I hated that pinafore Mom. I totally think it is precious now as I look back on it…) so that is at the top of my list. Easter dresses. Probably should do it now while they don’t care what they wear. Can’t imagine my limited sewing skills could manage anything that would please a 14 year old…
So I wanted to start something small as practice. Thankfully a sweet friend had a baby, not just for me and my sewing needs…it was already scheduled.
I didn’t sew the neck or armholes together, so things are looking good so far.
Now bravely on to bigger projects…

Flashlight Chase
Hayden got a flashlight from a sweet friend of ours the other night. She and Bryan went out one night and played a rousing game of flashlight chase in the backyard.
No one was injured. Squealing was at a maximum. Fun was had by all!

What Pen?
I left this on her face all day to see if her dad would notice. He did. It made me smile every time I looked at her. Sometimes when you are home all day with small children it is the little things that keep you sane…and smiling.
(I did wipe the almond butter off after lunch. I was aiming for funny, not gross.)

Lunchtime Fun
We eat lunch most days at the same table, in the same chairs, with the same people, and often with a limited rotation of the same foods. So we will occasionally put forth a little more effort to “fun” things up!
We often use muffin tins, cupcake liners, cookie cutters and other fun containers. The other day we took some inspiration from Pinterest and used ice cube trays.
Hayden loved it! Lauren liked it, but it didn’t persuade her to eat her peas…no fooling that girl.

The Berry Babes
Brailyn and Camdyn came for a visit the other day! Hayden and Lauren were in heaven! Hayden considers Brailyn her best friend and Lauren LOVES baby Camdyn. Brailyn and Hayden entertained each other and Camdyn sweetly tolerated all of Lauren’s smothering. Love those Berry girls!
Lord, Thank you for wonderful friends!

It’s Potty Time!
Not really. But Lauren did want to sit on the potty Thursday afternoon. And after sitting on it for 20 minutes she put tee tee in there! So what does any good parent do? Give the girl a chocolate chip and then take a picture.
I do not want to tackle potty training right now…I was thinking more like this summer.
Way to go Lauren!
Please Lord, let this be easier the second time around!
Daddy/Daughter Date Night
Chick Fil A hosts several daddy/daughter date nights a year. Bryan took Hayden last June for the Father’s Day date. They had a great time! When date night was offered again for Valentine’s Day Bryan made a reservation.
They had a great time! Hayden had her picture taken with the cow, received a stuffed monkey, some candy and was served by someone wearing a crown. What more could a girl ask for?
Ready for their date!
What Lauren thought about having to wait for the next one. I made it up to her by sharing a brownie with her when Bryan and Hayden left…her tears break my heart.
Daddy’s Little Sweetheart!
Thank you Lord for daddies and daughters. Thank you for date nights, Chick Fil A and fun!
