I am at the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco. I flew out of SLC yesterday on a tiny 4-seat wide 6 foot tall airplane (well the standing area was only 6 feet tall, I stood up and hit my head) I has a very cramped flight sitting next to a very large women who had her daughter on her lap. I normally wouldn’t mind, except that about 10 minutes into the flight she looks over at me and says “she’s sick is that ok?” OK, yeah, thanks for the heads up.
Luckily it was a quick hour and forty-five minute flight. We flew over San Francisco Bay on the way into the SFO, and I could see the Golden gate Bridge from about a mile up, which was a cool view.
I am staying at the Marriott Downtown on the 31st floor, which is one of The cosmic numbers in the universe – so pretty cool.
San Francisco is a lot like Japan in that it is very crowded, everyone is going their own way without apparent care or regard for the rest of the world. It has been a long time since I have been in a real city.
The conference started this morning with a key-note speaker, and he was wearing a black t-shirt and levis. So that should give you an idea of the dress code.
