Vacation time is always a good time.

Here we go on the ol' homestead page. Since the fan damly was off having a good vacation I figured I would go ahead and make a post about it. Please be aware that the following are facts according to my observation.
The trip was a great one without to many hickups. There were a few things that will make this trip unique amoung so many. For Jen and Jer it was great. Their kids were so used to being scattered about that they just hung with the cousins. The Wright parents managed to steal one of Michael and Colette's many large colorful umbrellas and pimp chill under it most of the time. Their feat was never contested due to the fact that they hadn't had time to clean their clothes since their succesful trip to Georgia. It's a good thing that David and Hollie had a boat strapped on their new tent trailer because the freeway started to fill up from the rainstorm while driving down the freeway and the boat kept the trailer afloat. Since there weren't many places to sit Mom kept sitting on the 4-wheelers which Neil gladly reved up and took off doing wheelies with Mom still on it. I'm sure you can't wait for the video on that one. All in all a really good trip for those who could make it.
Thanks for reading the Techmeyer Family Blog! We'll keep you posted! =D

Let the Chinese Begin!

I just talked with James and he is still alive. Since he's been in Monerey he said that he's been on sweeping detail. Which means that we walks up and down the sidewalk and sweeps it. Goes to lunch, then goes back to sweeping. Many of the folks sent down there have some major lag time from the time that they arrive until the time that class starts. So they get a lot of detail time. James fortunately starts class today, so he's done with his sweep detail.

He also said that he expects to be able to move to 'phase 2' next week, which means that he'll be able to leave the base. He'll still have to be in uniform - so no water activities - but he can explore beyond his bedroom.

He said that he officially starts class today at 12:30!

James is now Airman Techmeyer!

James officially has a rank now! Dad and Linda went down to San Antonio, TX to participate in the graduation event. I don't know much of the details, except that it looked hot and windy. he graduated on Friday the 27th of June. On Thursday at about 11:00 they had a ceremony where they received their Airmen Coins and became Airmen, then on to the festivities on Friday. He had Friday afternoon to himself, and spent it seeing the sights of San Antonio with Dad and Linda.

Here are some pictures and a video clip from Dad and Linda.

UPDATE: James is now in Monterey California. He is living in a 2 person dormitory type room with a microwave and a mini fridge. The bathroom is down the hall. He has little/no phone/email access. He has expressed that he will keep people updated as often as he can.
