So when we first got Zuka we had these great intentions of making her sleep in her little "cage" at night and when we were out. As previously discussed... she cried the first night. Part of the second... but we stood strong.... Still made her sleep out there, but I would go lay in the cage with her for 10-15 minutes before I left her to go to sleep on her own. (I kid you not... I really did that). This worked fine ntil she learned how to climb and jump out of her 3 foot cage. Good Job Zuka. You're 12 weeks old and you learned how to climb out of your cage. Fine fine, you can sleep in OUR room.... but you must lay on your bed in the room and not chew your bone and be a good puppy. Ok I guess you can have your bone at night.... And what the heck.... come sleep on a blanket on my side of the bed. Good Dog. We love you. Then it was Saturday morning and I was lonely.... "Zuka come lay on my bed with me".... she can't jump that high.... I picked her up to lay with me. It was adorable. Two nights ago we went to bed and I called her up to get on the bed. Oh my gosh she did it! Zuka can get on the bed! That's adorable! We have such a good dog! Last night... I get on my bed.... Zuka runs, jumps, runs to the top of my bed and lays right on my pillow. Wow.... if you give a mouse a cookie....

New Addition to the Thacker Pack....

Introducing ZUKA! I have wanted a german shepherd for like 4 years and we finally got one. She is pure bred and AKC Registered. Yesterday she was 11 weeks old. We got her from Payson where we had the choice of 3 females. She has been a lot of work so far but we have fallen in love with her.
She is training us pretty well. For instance, she likes to lay on the kitchen rug. She doesn't mind at all if you are trying to do something. She LOVES her bone and enjoys her rope/tennis ball toy. If you take the bone away from her, she will find it. She may not be able to reach it but she will find it.
The first night was rough.... she went to bed at 10 and cried clear til 11:30. Woke up at 2:30 and went back to sleep at about 4:15. Needless to say, I was tired today.
She is learning so fast its ridiculous. She learned how to move her pen. She knows her name and knows what her "toy" is. We are anxious to keep spending time with her and teach her more.
