The May Life

Wow time is flying! Here we are, middle of May, thinking about summer. We have finished our kitchen project, gone to Disneyland, and now we are looking forward to a week that Trav has off of work at the end of May.

Chance
Doing great. Getting tall. Talking a little bit more. We had a meeting with Kids on the Move to discuss what we will do when he turns 3. They will do an assessment on June 29 to determine how Alpine School District will help him. I’m a little nervous but mostly anxious. He is in the 86th percentile for receptive language and 9th percentile for expressive language. They say they have never seen a child like him. I’m just hoping we can figure out how to best help him.

Chance is learning so much right now. He knows his colors and shapes and likes to sort and match everything. He loves that Cole is getting bigger and tries to “fight” with him. It usually ends in Cole crying. I’m sure that will continue for years haha He has been making new friends and enjoys playing with other kids. I’m debating planning him a birthday party. Seems silly for a 3 year old but I know he would have so much fun.

Chance is maturing a lot. It’s hard to explain but I many of his “babyisms” slipping away. For instance, last night he was willing to watch a movie that was not one of his normal picks. Sounds trivial but he tends to hate new things haha

Chance loves eating otter pops, watching paw patrol or blaze, and just running around and being crazy. He is getting back into the swing of baseball and has batting practice with Papa and Trav regularly. He is quite an athlete for a two year old. He definitely doesn’t get that from me!

Coleman
Oh this boy! 7.5 months. 2 teeth. Sitting. Playing. And wanting to be mobile so bad that he can hardly stand it! He is always busy! I honestly can’t wait til he can crawl. I know that he will get into things and make messes but I hate the frustrated immobile stage. He doesn’t have to get glasses or a helmet so we feel very blessed for that. He is up to 20 pounds now. Wears 12-18 month clothes. I feel like he really isn’t even a baby anymore. He hates teething and I feel like I am constantly giving him (or wanting to give him) Tylenol haha He doesn’t eat his bottle well when he is teething so we have been trying to offer food frequently. He loves to play in the water, which will be nice for summer. He is FINALLY sleeping through the night! Cue the hallelujah chorus!

Travis
Work. Softball. Yard work. And a new grill! Trav rarely asks for anything so when he does, I do my best to make it possible. He has been wanting to get into grilling so we took the plunge yesterday and got a grill! The first meal was amazing and we can’t wait to do it more. My parents were gracious enough to supply the meat and my dad helped Trav learn to cook steak, chicken, and shrimp. We also loved just being outside and enjoying each other’s company.  Trav is looking forward to the week of the highschool baseball tournament. He tries to take it off of work every year to watch it with his brother. His whole family will be in town that week so I’m sure we will spend time with them as well. Trav has been exercising almost every day. He wakes up at 3 or 4 in the morning and goes to the gym. That’s dedication! I am so proud of him and want to continue being active and healthy.

Amanda
Work. Kids. Calling. The usual. I’m starting a BSN program in a few months. I’m sort of dreading it but I know I need to do it. I was going to do an RN to MSN program but decided I better pace myself and just do the BSN first. I have never gone to school while having kids so I’m a little nervous but I know the sacrifice will be worth it. Trav and my mom are going to help with the kids so that I can get everything accomplished that I need to. I have also been going to the gym 4-5 times a week. I have about 8 pounds to go to get back to my pre-Coleman weight. I remember the last 10 pounds being the hardest but MAN!!! We are also doing myfitnesspal and counting calories. Not the funnest thing but its worth it. We are all running a 5k in June. Not like that’s soooo far but we are starting to prep for that. I’ve never been much of a runner so 5k is a good length for me. I like to do one every year (that I’m not prego), just to help motivate myself.

Well, that’s where we are at for now. Time is just flying by but we try to enjoy every minute and love life.
