June update

Well it’s been a while since I blogged so here we go:

Travis: Working, umpiring little league softball, golfing whenever he can, and got a new calling in church as a scout leader.

Amanda: Working both jobs, tried to quit the extra job and basically they wouldn’t let me haha and the DON is so nice that I agreed to keep working there (for now). I am really liking my job at the hospital and considered going full time but I decided to wait for a while. My kids are still so small and I love having the extra time with them. I have recently taken a step back from social media (snapchat, facebook, and instagram). I haven’t deleted my accounts or shunned them completely, I just wanted to spend less time on them so I deleted the apps on my phone haha it’s amazing how much that simple step has changed my life. I may feel differently in the future, but for now, it’s best for mental well being. I got post partum depression after Carly and things were pretty rough for a while. I’m slowly climbing out of that and honestly, spending time on those apps wasn’t helping. I also want to focus extra time I have on blogging/journaling so I have something constructive to look back on.

Chance: 4 years 10 months. I am totally in denial that I am going to have a 5 year old in a few months! Chance will technically be kindergarten eligible but we are going to hold him back and wait til he is 6 to start him. We have basically been planning to do this since he was born haha It will put him and Coleman 2 years apart in school and give him a little extra time to catch up before throwing him to the wolves. Chance struggles with scholastic things and I am guessing that will be a common theme through his life. It’s definitely not something that comes easy for him but we are pushing him to try his best. He finished the soccer season strong. He made tons of progress and seemed to have a good time. Chance is very polite and struggles with being aggressive in soccer. He would rather that everyone just take turns haha I seriously love that kid! Tball has gone really well for him! He has gotten awesome hits and even hit it to the outfield at his last game! He also fields well and understands the play of the game. I know this sounds so selfish but after all that Chance has been through, it’s nice to see him excel at something! He had a huge fan club on Saturday and was on cloud 9 after his game! Chance is still in gymnastics and we are on the fence about that one. He has progressed a ton but I can’t really see it being a long-term hobby for him. He starts sports camp at the rec center tomorrow and then swimming lessons next week. I feel like we are busier now than we were in the school year haha

Coleman: 2 years 8 months. Coleman is kind of at an “in between” age. I remember going through this with Chance. Not quite old enough for some stuff that he would like to try but kinda over the baby stuff. He has been doing gymnastics but recently has stopped loving it. He will act like he is asleep (his form of throwing fits haha) during class and it’s just a general fight. We have been pushing it for a while but honestly, I don’t need to pay money to fight with my kids haha so we are going to give gym a break for now. When he is 3, we can start doing some sports camps at the rec center so I am excited for that. He has been having a hard time not being able to participate in Chance’s soccer and tball games. I am also kind of missing my time with him, now that it’s summer and Chance is always home. We may need to work out some play dates or something so that I get some Coleman time! His eczema is doing so-so right now. He has no open sores that are bleeding and require a dressing of some type. That is literally how we gauge success with his skin. It’s so sad! I used to share a lot about it but recently have been more private. It’s hard for people to understand unless they truly have been there, and most people just haven’t seen eczema as bad as his so we get a lot of comments like “your son has ant bites all over his legs” or “he has had an allergic reaction to medication.” Coleman is so smart and has been working on colors, and shapes. He likes to pretend that he knows his letters and can write his name haha He basically wants to do everything that Chance does!

ImageCarly: 5 months! Not really sure how that happened but its totally insane. She started sleeping through the night (consistently) at 4 months and we put her in the same room as the boys. It’s going much better than I anticipated, although there is absolutely no space left in that room haha yay for 3 kids in the same room! She can roll from her back to tummy. She is doing awesome with tummy time (something I neglected to do with the boys). She is started to grab things and check them out. She’s obsessed with putting everything in her mouth. She will even chew on her own hands haha She’s a very happy baby and will smile and laugh at anyone who talks to her.

We don’t have many summer plans except a family reunion at the end of summer. We are also going to San Diego in November, which we are super excited for. I am hoping it will be a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.
