Another fun weekend!

Image
On Saturday, we headed into DC to go to the Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play!  We were excited to see some of Samuel's favorite characters and to do some good ole' fashioned play.  The weather wasn't the best but we made the best of it! We headed to the park in front of the White House which is where it was taking place...and so did every other person in the metro area.  Oh my, it was packed full of kids.  Samuel would have stayed there all day if he had been a couple of years older but we tried to do a few things.

We decided to walk to Old Ebbit Grill for lunch.  Thankfully, we beat the crowd..

Lunch was great until this precious little guy decided to barf everywhere!  He has my gag reflex and anything can set him off. Bless his heart!  He kept saying "sorry mommy."

We next decided to go to the National Book Festival that took place on the National Mall.  It was AWESOME!  They had so many different tents where authors were signing books, reading or storytelling, etc.  They even had a Family Storytelling Stage where different performances took place.  Much to our surprise, CHOO CHOO SOUL was performing right when we walked up.  Samuel was in awe!

Complete amazement!
We ended the day with a trip to the Book Sales tent.  Samuel scored some great books and they were all signed by the authors..not that he cared about that last part...but it was pretty cool:))

Lately...

We've been keeping ourselves fairly busy. Lots of play dates and meeting new friends. However, after nap we usually hang out close to the apartment because traffic really starts to get bad. So, we will play inside or walk to the very close grocery store...which I LOVE!! Our apartment is in an area called Tyson's Corner which consists of office buildings, restaurants and two large malls. I like it over here but I can't wait to move into our house. I miss a neighborhood! Only a few more weeks:) We are making the best of it though!

Here we are walking back from the grocery store..with Pup Pup in tow!

Here is the grocery store. It's on the bottom level of these loft apartments. It looks small but it's really large and is a combo of a Whole Foods and a regular grocery store.

Smelling the leaves:)

Most days, this is what our apartment looks like until after Samuel goes to bed. It's just not worth cleaning up until then.

Today we went to a MOPS meeting and then over to the mall for lunch and some play time. Samuel really likes the mall here!

This cracks me up. He's in the same position as the polar bear!

They also have a choo choo that drives around the play area and food court. We love it!

DC weekend-Sunday

After church on Sunday, we decided to check out the Washington Nationals game. It was Samuel's first baseball game and he did pretty good! It is a very family friendly park with lots of room to run and a huge play area for the kids. We took the orange line on the metro and transferred to the green line. Two stops later and we were there! Easy breezy!! We are loving the metro...and so is Samuel.

Just taking it all in

Image

Still getting over his shock of seeing the people dressed up in massive president costumes. Let's just say he wasn't a fan of BIG George Washington!

Image

Much better now with his Nationals jersey on!

Here is where the food frenzy began. I cannot step foot inside a ballpark without getting a hot dog so we started with that first....

Image

Then a little Diet Coke...

Image

Cotton candy....

Image

And delicious popcorn!! He already was missing a nap so who cares, right?? We had to do his first game up good!!

Image

"Go Nationals!" we are still Rangers fans but had fun cheering on our new home team.

And the night ended with bath time silliness. We had to scrub good to get all of the metro, ballpark dirt off!

Counting away!
