This Fall was big for our family as it meant that it was the very first first day of school we would all experience...and from here on out, we'll be doing this every fall for many years to come! And as I already blogged about, it is so hard to believe that I am old enough to have a child old enough to go to school. But ready or not, I didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter!
So, we went for a quick 15-minute meet-the-teacher orientation at the beginning of the week, the next day was followed with a 1 hour class session while I attended a parent meeting, and the third day was his first real full day of Kindergarten. The day we went for one hour, I of course took my camera with me. :)

Could he have been more excited to go to school?!

He looked so big!

Sam was feeling really left out, I suppose, so of course he asked me to take his picture while we were waiting for Tyler.

The first 'real' day was so hard to get used to, of course. The morning was rushed of course, but it was so quiet after we settled in. Sam would mistakenly call out for Tyler, and then would realize he wasn't there. :) Those two became quite good buddies this summer! Sam was missing him, that's for sure. So after I picked him up, I wanted some one on one time with Tyler, so we decided to make cookies--M&M chocolate chip, to be exact--while Sam took a nap.

And while making cookies with my boy, I heard all about the big first day. And I could only hope that it would be a great year for him and that he would enjoy learning and love each day at school (along with all the thoughts of hoping he would be nice to others and that they would be nice to him, and that he'd be a good example, and that he would be polite to his teachers, etc, etc, etc...do we ever quit thinking those thoughts as mothers?!).

And most importantly, we enjoyed cookies,

cookies,

and more cookies.

And don't think Tyler was the only one who got in on the action--Sam had one within a minute of waking up from his nap, as evidenced by his bedhead.

Hmmm, I think I need a cookie.

And now here we are almost 2 months later, and we have settled in quite nicely. Tyler really does love school and is doing very well. He has picked up on reading pretty quickly and is passing off his reader every day. He loves his friends, which comes as no surprise, and doesn't enjoy the daily homework, which also comes as no surprise! I do have to say I have enjoyed my one on one time with Sam. I am appreciating him and his age of 3 a lot more now that I've gotten a little more time to spend with him. Yes, he still gives me a run for my money very often, of course. But I do think he's awfully cute!
