A New Year, A New Look - Who's With Me?

Now that Owen has officially entered his 2nd year of life and we have a full year of parenting and blogging under our belts, I thought it was time for a new look.  Let me know what you think and more importantly let me know that you're out there.  I always wonder who reads this and follows the blog and I would love to hear from any silent viewers out there!  Leave me a comment and let me know that the time I spend on this is entertaining others nearly as much as it entertains me.  I would love to hear from you.

Walking Proof

This is our typical after-school activity, Owen wants to get down right away and play with his toys and read books.  He loves books and loves Elmo, and for some reason loves the black pages in Good Night Gorilla.  Apologies if I sing in this one, I can't remember.


This is actually the one where I think I talk and sing like Elmo, please mute and just watch.  I wouldn't post it except that I think it's so cute that he hugs and kisses Elmo.  We just got this book and this video was the first time he did all of this!


I don't know which is funnier in this video, Teague's comments or Owen's actions, I'll let you decide for yourself.


Here is a glimpse into our typical pre-bath activities.  This was one of his first days walking, he is now walking about 75% of the time, it's amazing.

12 Month Stats and Videos

We took Owen in for his 1 year check-up this week and found out why he was being so crabby, he still had two ear infections! The last round of antibiotics didn't work and the poor guy still had terrible infections in each ear. That explains why he was a wreck the week before and was no longer sleeping through the night, I thought it was some terrible phase you hit at the 1 year mark. The things you learn! He was a new man after just one day on the new antibiotics and it's good to have him back, super happy and sleeping through the night again.

And now, the highly anticipated 12 months stats:

• Weight: 21 pounds, 7 ounces (quadruple his birthweight of 5 lbs 13 oz!)
• Height: 30.5" (nearly half as tall as me!)
• Head Circumference: 48.5 cm (ridiculously huge)

His weight is now in the 25th - 50th percentile, he's been in the 10 to 25th percentile the entire year, so he's bulking up finally! He also moved up in height and is now in the 50 to 75th percentile. I can tell because he can reach things I never thought he could reach. Tonight he grabbed something off of the dining room table with no problem and I realized his head was above the table. He will be as tall as me before you know it! And as usual, his head is enormous and in the 95th percentile. I love his bald little head! He is starting to grow a major mullet in the back but still pretty bald on top.

Here are a few pictures from our birthday weekend up at the lake with the Hasbrook's, Weaver's, Livermore's, Fages' and Borgo's. We had such a fun weekend! Thank you Christie and Jerry for your never-ending generosity, we love your lake house and are so grateful you are willing to share it with us.

Here is a little video of a recent breakfast with Owen, apologies for the racket Teague is making in the background. I think he was cleaning up the kitchen but it sounds like he was banging pots together next to a waterfall. I have a ton more videos to post this weekend.

Here is a video of Owen with Buzz Lightyear from a month or two ago. By the way, he's greasy because we had to put Aquaphor on his face constantly all winter because he was so chapped all the time; Teague called him Tom Coughlin.
