Somehow a month always passes between my posts; time seems to be passing even more quickly now and I can barely keep up with my weekly Baby Center emails, but this week's email titled, "Your 14-Month Old: Week 1" definitely caught my attention. How do we have a 14-month old? You count down the months until they turn 1, and then after that it feels like a blur. Pretty soon he'll be starting kindergarten and off to college, so I thought I'd take a minute to share some highlights of what Owen has been up to these past few months.
- Every day he is doing something new to make us laugh. He used to think it was funny when we would pretend to sneeze, and now he has mastered the perfect, "Ahhh... Choo!", which he is really proud of. He is constantly making funny faces or playing pretend and it's so cute to watch.
- He surprises me with his sense of humor and loves to be silly, maybe that's why he laughs whenever "Mr. Noodle" is on Elmo?
- Owen is extremely affectionate and is always ready to offer up a hug, which we are more than willing to give him. The best hug is the first one of the day when he reaches for me out of his crib. Second best is when he sneaks up behind you and hugs your legs when you least expect it.
- He is talking like crazy and pretends to speak in full sentences of gibberish, he has the cutest little voice. The few words he has fully mastered are: cracker, car, banana, shoes, dada, choo choo, baba (bottle), and ball. It amazes me the places he can spot a ball and get so excited!
- He LOVES books and loves for you to read to him. I constantly feel a tug at my leg while I'm getting ready in the morning or getting his dinner ready, only to look down and see Owen standing there with a book ready to read. If you're sitting on the ground, he'll grab a book and start backing up until he has backed up into your lap. Sometimes this process starts from across the room! As I write this I just had to stop and read him a book that he brought over and sat on my lap. How could I resist?
- Everything is interesting, especially if it's in a drawer or container. He'll pull up to one of our drawers, sit down, and pull things out one at a time, letting out an enthusiastic, "WOW!" with each item. It's hilarious.
- Like the rest of the world's toddler population, he can't get enough of phones and remotes and we finally had to give him one of our old Blackberries that still works, a fake or broken phone just was not going to cut it for him. Only this generation would have a functioning Blackberry as a toy! He still manages to get a hold of our phones pretty often and we have had some very close encounters with 911 calls.
- He is an eating machine now that he is finally down to having only 2 bottles a day. His favorite foods are cuties (clementine's), Morningstar "sausage", blueberries, bananas, pancakes, crackers, cheese and broccoli. He cannot shovel broccoli or cuties in his mouth fast enough and he smacks his lips like they are the best things he has ever tasted. I hope his good eating habits continue, time can only tell.
Those are the highlights right now, I'm sure tomorrow I'll think of a new list! For now, here are some photo highlights from the past month:

We had such a great time! |

A really cheesy picture of us dancing to probably an equally cheesy song,
see what a great time we had? |

| Ok, you can have my phone if it makes you this happy. |
