Karate Graduation

February 16, 2012

Porter took a 6 week Karate class at his school. It was the greatest class I have ever signed Porter up for. They had a “discipline card” the had to fill out everyday. They got a check for  keeping their room clean, doing their homework and obeying their parents. They also had to do five things with out being asked. This is how they earned the blue stripes on their belt. If they earned 5 stripes by graduation, they got to break a board. What motivation! It was the best 6 weeks of my life 🙂

Here is Porter as Karate graduation. This wasn’t his teacher for the 6 weeks, this is just one of the girls that worked at the karate school. He had to show her how to punch and kick.

The Science Fair

February 2, 2012

Porter really wanted to be in the science fair this year. It was totally optional, in fact, he was the only one in his whole class that did it. He thought it would be cool to grow crystals. He really liked siting in front of his project during the fair and telling everyone about his project. He was especially like the metal he got. We are very proud of him. Good job, Porter!

Christmas

February 2, 2012

Christmas was uh… let’s just say different this year. We went to Arizona to spend Christmas with family. Everyday we were there, there was some sort of family party or get together. It seemed like we were always going and there was no down time at all. But it was sure nice to see everyone.

This year, because of our crazy circumstances, we decided to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We had our little family Christmas first and then all the Allen’s came over for our traditional Christmas breakfast.

Dad wrote a book for all the grandkids. “Granddaddy and the Prophets”  It’s a bunch a stories about Dad and his experiences with each of the prophets. There’s some neat stories in there. What a neat keepsake.

Garrett liked his present from Nani.

Thanks Nani!!!

Each of us girls got an embosser from mom. Nice picture Kevin.

Garrett loves his cousins.

Kari made each of the kids a penguin ornament. Each one was different and hand stiched and came with a name. Porter’s was Captain. He was being a little over animated. Silly kid.

Uncle Dave and Lincoln. Cute.

That night we went to Jeff and Melissa’s house for dinner. They had hot air balloon rides at the park by their house. The boys got a turn. Garrett is in there too, just a little too short to see him.

On Christmas day, we drove to Tucson to visit my Dad. It was so good to see him. We weren’t allow to bring a camera, but oh how I wish I had pictures. The kids both ran and gave him a big hug. They haven’t seen him for a whole year and they were so excited to see him. We got to play card games, tell Granddaddy what the kids got for Christmas and even kick around a ball on the porch. I’m so glad we got to see him and finally bring the kids to see him. It was a great day, but very weird for Christmas day.

Thanksgiving

February 2, 2012

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s especially fun when all the Lees come up here to Utah and all stay at our house. This year we had 22 people all staying at our house for the week. It was crazy but super fun. Lot’s of jam sessions and staying up late talking and laughing. On Thanksgiving day Connie had some fun crafts for the kids to do. They built some pretty cool things with toothpicks and gum drops.

Kids are waiting at the table trying not to eat their nut cups.

The whole gang enjoying the extremely delicious food. I think that is the best part of a Lee thanksgiving. The food was to die for!

Image

Brian discovered that he could use the spoons as sunglasses. Cute!

Image

Garrett’s favorite part was getting to hold uncle Mike’s police badge. He thought the was SOOOOO cool. He wants to be a policeman when he grows up. Thanks uncle Mike!

Halloween

November 8, 2011

So I totally failed at taking pictures this Halloween. FAILED!!! I only have some from my iPhone. What was I thinking? Oh well, I guess it’s better then nothing.

Our spooky breakfast!

Carving the pumpkin.

Scary pose next to Jack – o -Lantern. (I promise that Porter and Garrett don’t have messy faces. We took the boys to the Farm at Thanksgiving point just before this so they had spiders painted on their faces and the paint is wearing off.)

Image

The Masterpiece. Porter had been sketching this face for weeks. He knew exactly how he wanted it to look.

Image

This was the Halloween Parade at Porter’s school. It was so cute to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes and marching around the halls. I loved it!

Image

I made the boys stop for a picture before they went tick or treating. I don’t think they were interested. They were both Jedis again this year. The costumes still fit so why not, right? But Porter made it clear that he was Obi Wan this year and Garrett was Anakin.

Look What Nani Did!

November 8, 2011

While Nani was here we went to Thanksgiving Point Gardens to see the sculptures of Christ’s life. They were beautiful.

Here are two of my favorite ones:

Super Garrett

November 8, 2011

Garrett turned 4 years old on Oct. 25! I can’t believe it. Nani flew all the way up here to help us celebrate. Garrett wanted a Superman birthday this year. The only thing he really wanted at his birthday party was a Superman piñata. Well, I pretty much figured I would never find one of those since there hasn’t been a movie out in years. But low and behold Garrett found one at the grocery store while we were getting some milk. Never thought I would find one there. But Garrett was SO happy! He wanted to sit next to superman in the car and hold his hand on the way home. Too cute!

Image

Image

On his birthday we took him to Toy R Us to get his birthday crown and balloon. I think he liked it!

Image

His superman birthday party was so much fun. He so happy when he saw his “Super Garrett” banner.

Image

We opened presents.

Image

Connie make him a superman cape (she was so sweet and made one for porter too!) and she made him a superman blanket because that was the only thing he asked for.

Image

Image

Image

And she made him a superman blanket because that was the only thing he asked for. He LOVES to snuggle up under a blanket!

Image

Aunt Kari gave him a transformer which he was so excited about! (she wasn’t there, but she sent it with Nani)

Image

Nani let him pick out a present at Toys R Us. He picked out Bumblebee’s Garage toy that is super cute. But unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of it, but he loves it!

Mom and Dad gave him some superman books and a super hero kit with mask, wristbands, super glow in the dark crystals, and a flashlight that hooks on to a belt.

Then we had to go through the tunnel of lasers without touching them!

Then we did the famous superman piñata.

Image

Last but not least we ate superman cupcakes!

Happy Birthday, Garrett!!!!

Cascade Springs

November 8, 2011

We took the kids out to enjoy the fall leaves and drove through the Alpine Loop and went to Cascade Springs. I’ve never been there before. It was so pretty! The water was so crystal clear and there where tons of paths to hike on. The boys had fun finding bugs and playing with them. They weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was one of those days that I wish I could just push the pause button and it would last forever. It was so nice to finally have some family time since Kevin has been gone so much lately. And to top it all off I actually thought to bring my camera with me. I had so much fun photographing the fall leaves and my cute boys. They were good sports and let me photograph them a bunch. Porter even took some great photographs himself. I loved that he wanted to take pictures too!

Tooth Party

November 8, 2011

Ok, so I’m not the best at keeping up my blog. Life with two little boys and a little photography business to run can be tricky. But I will try to be better. We’ll see.

Porter lost his second tooth last month. It was a very traumatic experience for him. It was very wiggly and it was hurting him a bit that night. We told him that it would be best if we pulled it out that night rather than it fall out at school the next day. He was SO scared to have it pulled out. The first tooth he lost it just popped out, we didn’t even know his tooth was loose! So, he didn’t know what it would be like to have a tooth pulled. He thought it would hurt. Every time we would tie the string around the tooth he would flick it off with his tongue. We did it at least 12 tries but he kept slipping it off and being scared. Finally, he asked Kevin to give him a father’s blessing to help him not be scared. And then after words he said he would let Kevin pull his tooth if I would give him a tooth party the next day. So of course I agreed. It worked! Finally we got his tooth out! He was so happy! And it didn’t even hurt! Then he started talking about his tooth party. He said there had to be M&M cookies on a three tiered platter like the cupcakes for his birthday, and decorations (he even showed me were to put the decorations), games… he was VERY specific with what he wanted. I drew the line at inviting friends. What did I get myself into? Luckily I pulled it off. Here are some very poor pictures I took with my iPhone. I think I was so concerned about getting all the details of the party right for Porter that I didn’t really care about pictures. At least I thought to take a couple with my phone.
