On the seventh day . . .

My kids spent hours making these. They are those beads that you put on the form and then iron. They ended up making about 25 in all and gave some to their friends to use as ornaments on their trees. Still learning, still reading, still having a GREAT time together in our Christmas school!

On the Fifth Day of Christmas School . . .

The assignment was to make your own nativity scene out of clay. I LOVE how all three are as different as my three children are.

On the third day of Christmas School . . .

Green and Red day. I threw in a few puzzles and brain teasers with our lesson today. Our devotion was about spies in the land! We had some story illustrating and writing going on too. ("How to Give a Reindeer a Radish.") Another fun day at the Chan home! Now off to read . . . . Maybe we'll pull out some Detective Science later on. Church tonight with missions, choir and Scripture memory.

On the Second Day of Christmas School . . .

Image
Today was the second day of our Christmas School. Our theme today was candles. We talked about some history behind using candles in the windows ( the Irish). We talked about Jesus as the Light of the World and how light can overcome darkness. Our Jesse Tree devotion was about Moses. Math, writing, and reading went as usual. Art AND Science came together as we made our own candles today. My kids learned about reading thermometers and melting points. They picked out the colors for the candles and poured each of theirs themselves. You can't tell from the picture but each one has a different look. They will be gifts to music teachers and neighbors.

Oh! We also had a field trip to the post office. I did make a lesson out of that too. Fun! Learning can be fun!

On the first day of Christmas School . . .

On the first day of Christmas School our theme was the wreath. Our lesson included some Christian symbolism behind it - including eternal life and the unending love of Jesus. We are also using the Jesse Tree ornaments and devotion. We had writing assignments that were Christmas focused. Math was as usual and of course we read. But each day we hope to do some art project along our theme. Today (December 7th) we did a type of ripped paper mosaic. Here are the results:
