Birthday Girl

Alyssa celebrated her first birthday on September 20th!

The first birthday is all about smashing all that glorious cake and frosting into your face, so we made sure that Alyssa got lots of practice at it leading up to the big party. For her birthday dinner we went to Chili's and got her and Ryan some molten chocolate lava cake. She did pretty good at getting it all over her face.

Earlier in the day I had wanted to take Alyssa to do something fun for her birthday, just her and I (She doesn't get a alot of one on one time being the second child and all) and I thought she would really like going to the Children's museum. But between nap time and lunch time and the drive there and back, there just wasn't time for the trip while Sadie was at school, so we came up with Plan B, which I think Alyssa was perfectly fine with, yogurt painting in the garage. What isn't there to love about nakedness, bright colors and getting to make a huge mess?

She had lots of fun playing in the bath to get the mess all cleaned up too.

She finished off the day with some birthday calls from family and some presents from mom and dad and Sadie.

We had a little birthday party with some family and friends the following Saturday.

The birthday cake!
I made a 6 layer rainbow cake and frosted it with cream cheese frosting.

Aly had a good time helping me frost it!

For her party we had a little bbq in the backyard. Thanks to everybody who came and helped us celebrate!

I am pretty sure that Alyssa's favorite part of the part was playing in her cake. And, with all her practice leading up to it, she did not disappoint.

Happy Birthday Alyssa!!! We love you!!!

The One Were I Attempt to Blog Sadie's Entire Year

*sorry about the format of this post right now. I am trying to insert some pictures and it is being a little difficult...

It is 9:15PM and Sadie has been "in bed" now for an hour and 15 minutes. She has asked for someone to cuddle with her, to have water, cereal...and fishies, and now Ryan is guarding her door closed while she screams and pounds on the door like an innocent imprisoned.

(huge sigh)

So, I'm just going to say that the last year has been rather trying. I do remember some people talking about how they got it wrong with the "terrible twos" and the really terribles are the threes. I believe!!! But to be fair to the poor girl we have asked a lot of her this year, and she has risen to the occasion!

potty trained? check
preschool? check
big sister? check
cross-state mover? check

Well, she's not three anymore. Sadie turned the big 4 on August 5th. We celebrated with a big family party up in Washington (we were mid-move) and issued a silent prayer that 4 would be much better than 3.

We got off to kind of a rocky start. We gave Sadie a bike for her birthday and thought she would be thrilled. She sat on it for approximately 8 seconds and then got up and stomped away screaming, "Mom, I wanted a unicorn!!!" and closed the scene with an appropriately dramatic door slam. I am glad that I have Ryan around to help me see just how funny these situations really are because with out him I would have no more hair left on my head.

Yes, we have ourselves a spunky, sassy, independent, sweet, funny, caring, loving, energetic four year old and we love her bunches and bunches and bunches. And even though life with her is sometimes infuriatingly frustrating, I wouldn't trade her for a million billion dollars. She brings happiness and life and excitement to our family.

ImageI have often sat down to try and write an update about Sadie over the past year and it is just too hard because her life is so complex now. But, for her birthday, here's my best shot.

Sadie weighs 28lbs and is 40 inches tall.
She knows all of her colors and shapes, recognizes patterns and rhymes, counts to 30, is starting to recognize specific letters, has started writing her name, can draw specific pictures (like I don't have to ask what they are because I can tell) and has an amazing memory.
Her understanding of the world grows more and more refined everyday and she is starting to be able to share in jokes and understand why people are sad or mad or happy.
Here's what she's been up to:
August 2011 -
  • turned 3!
  • We moved her out of her crib and into a "big girl" bed, which has brought on a year-long bedtime battle. I could tell you about the numerous methods we have tried to get her to just stay in her bed and go to sleep, but I won't bore you. I will simply tell you that she is her mother's daughter and I remember doing the same thing to my mom, bless her soul.
  • Serious potty training began - well, for her. I had been potty training for the previous 18 months, Sadie just didn't seem to notice until she turned 3. But, once she decided to just do it, she did pretty well at it.
September 2011
  • Sadie officially became a big sister! She was so excited to meet Alyssa and she just wanted to hold her and love on her all the time. She was never mean or jealous of the baby, just loved her a little too much sometimes. There were sometimes when it was hard for her to understand that we had to be accommodating of our new schedule with the baby. When Alyssa was only about 2 weeks old I told Sadie I would take her to the zoo but we had to wait until Alyssa woke up from her nap. The next thing I know, Sadie is up in Alyssa's room, screaming into her crib, "Wake Up! It's Time To Go To The Zoo!!"
  • It was amazing to me how my perspective of Sadie changed so quickly once Alyssa arrived. One day Sadie was just a little toddler in my eyes, then Alyssa was born and all of a sudden Sadie seemed so big and grown up to me! It was like over night she could suddenly do so many things. This probably wasn't very fair to Sadie, making her jump from the baby role to the big kid role so quickly. And in all honesty, that is probably alot of the frustration that she and I felt toward each other for most of this year. But, she is getting so big! And can do so many amazing things all by herself.
October 2011
  • Sadie dressed up for a witch for Halloween. That was only after changing her mind from a fairy, a cowgirl, a doggie, a princess... But, there were lots of witch decorations up in our neighborhood and she got really into the idea of witches and ghosts. She still talks about the ghosts in her friend, Lucy's, trees.
  • Sadie got to go trick-or-treating with her dad and her friends, Leaf and Tanner. She thought that was pretty cool.
  • Still adjusting to this whole new baby thing. The biggest adjustment was not having mom around as often. She became a big daddy's girl.
November 2011
  • Started preschool with Teacher Jean. She did a 3 year old Joy school class that met 2 times a week for 2 1/2 hours. She absolutely loved it! I noticed a quick change in Sadie when she started preschool - she was so much more bored at home. It was like she realized there was a world outside of our house and if she was just stuck at our house she was missing out on so much fun.
  • She started having real, legitimate friends. People she wanted to play with, she knew where they lived and she could ask to play with them by name. Her favorite friends were Emily, from primary, and Maryanne and Brooke, from preschool.
  • In preschool Sadie started to learn how to draw really well and she started drawing pictures of people.
  • She also loved to talk about all the different things she learned in preschool, days of the week, months of the year, the different seasons and the weather and a bunch of different songs.
  • She also loved her Teacher Jean, so much so that she started talking like her and using phrases that Teacher Jean used. I will never forget the time when she told me that she would put her toy away "for safe keeping." I just stared at her and wondered, "who are you?"
  • I gave up on fighting Sadie to take a nap. She had given up her nap months and months ago but I kept making her go to her room on the off chance she would sleep. She never would. Rather, she would destroy her room. She would pull every single article of clothing out of her dresser and strew it around the room. She would pull things she could reach (by climbing on things she shouldn't have been climbing on) off the wall and break them, she would rip books into shreds, and I try to forget the time I accidentally left her in her room with a book of stickers and a permanent marker. When we moved out of our house I noticed there were teeth marks on the blinds, so I guess she was eating the blinds too. So, I decided that the mess I had to clean up after the quiet time was not worth the free time a nap gave me. And that is how Sadie stopped taking a nap. On the positive side, bedtime became slighter easier...as in, she fell asleep at 10pm instead of midnight.

Swimming lessons: practicing her strokes
  • Sadie started swimming lessons. She was going crazy being stuck in the house all the time because of the cold weather (when you only weigh 28lbs you get cold really fast, no matter how many layers you put on) so I decided to get her going on swimming. The only bad thing was that the pool wasn't heated so she still shivered the whole time. She loved swimming lessons, but refused to put her head in the water. (remember this fact until May 2012)
  • We got to spend Christmas up in Washington with Ryan's family which means that Sadie got to see her cousins. There is no other word for this than bliss.
January 2012
  • Blah. What does anybody do in January but wish for it to not be winter anymore?
  • Continued preschool and swimming lessons
  • Sadie moved out of nursery and into primary. She still calls it nursery, but loves being with all the older kids. She is great at singing the primary songs and sings them all the time around the house. Sometimes I am so surprised at how many she knows. She also was able to give her first talk in primary. She did an excellent job! She got up to the microphone and she spoke loudly and clearly and wasn't scared at all. I was so proud of her.

Sisters = Best Friends ... for a moment
  • Both Sadie and Alyssa got really, really sick. Sadie had bronchitis and a double ear infection.
  • We had the great snowpocalypse of 2012. We were snowed into our house for most of the month.
  • As Alyssa got older and learned to do new things, Sadie discovered that there were some fun things about her. Sadie was really good at getting her to laugh and grin. And when Alyssa started being able to roll around Sadie was more than willing to give her a little push to get her started.

The Park and SUNSHINE!
  • One of Sadie's favorite places to be is at the park. And, more specifically, she loves to be swinging on the swings at the park. When the sun began to peek out a little more often in March, Sadie started begging to go to the park again.
Image
asleep during the day=sick

Sadie was still sick for alot of the month of March - I blame preschool - which means that she was rather ornery for most of March. I could always tell when she was really sick because she would actually fall asleep in the middle of the day. She never falls asleep in the middle of the day, no matter how tired she is, unless she is really, really sick.

Sadie went to the dentist for the very first time in March. She was super brave and let them clean her teeth and take xrays and everything. She got an A+, no cavities for that girl, despite years of juice drinking and using a Binky until she was 2.

April 2012

Ready to road trip
We attempted a road trip to Salt Lake the first week in April. Sadie was sick (again) and it was Alyssa's first long car trip. It took 18 hours! Alyssa lost it after about 12 hours, but Sadie was a trooper and did a really great job on the long drive. Sadie has always been a really good traveler.
  • *Sadie adjusted to mom being a little more busy with Alyssa around by becoming an avid colorer. She would color all day long if I let her, and some days I do. She loves to color and sing and watch tv, all at the same time.

*We put up Sadie's trampoline. This, besides coloring, is her favorite thing to do.

May 2012
  • Still sick :( Seriously, this is the worst part of preschool!
  • Became a preschool graduate (and got a reprieve from the never-ending cold)
  • Sadie got to add another destination to her travel log: Hawaii. While Sadie was not so fond of the beaches there, she loved the pool. She jumped right in, put her face in the water and started swimming across the pool (do you remember her swimming lessons from December and how she wouldn't even put her head in the water...yeah, and now out of the blue she is full on swimming). By the time we left Hawaii she could swim all by herself from one end of the shallow pool to the other.
  • Sadie's new favorite question, "Why does it take so long???" and "Are we there yet???"
  • Sadie is super friendly. Anywhere we go she will run up to the kids that are there and ask them if they want to be her friend. She makes new friends so easily. She will tell the man at Costco that she likes his shirt and she will tell the lady at McDonald's that her makeup is beautiful. She will also tell the jogger in the park that he forgot to put his shirt on and he is naked! Seriously, do you think I need to give her a little talking to and put some stranger danger inside of her? I don't know...
  • "Rumor Has It," or as Sadie calls it, "Buma Has It" by Adele is Sadie's favorite song and she can sing it almost word for word. I was a little embarrassed when she went to preschool singing, "She ain't gonna love you like I will..."
June 2012
  • We decided to take a new job and move back to Utah. Sadie was excited to move so that she could live closer to Nana and Papa. I was worried about how she would handle the change. When we first moved to Colorado she spent the first 2 months asking when we were going to go home. It broke my heart. This time around she seems to understand the concept and has been resilient amidst so much instability and change. She really is a great kid.
  • Sadie was very helpful with the packing. She decorated the outside of all of our moving boxes by coloring pictures on them.
July 2012
  • She had her first friend birthday party! I had a party for her before we moved so that she could invite all of her friends from Colorado and tell them goodbye. Man, I can't believe how many friends this girl has! And she wanted to invite all of them. We had cupcakes in the park and played some games and then we went to see the movie, Brave. I really think she had a blast.
  • Did a gymnastics day camp and loved it! We have a little gymnast on our hands.
  • We left our Colorado house. While Sadie was really good about the whole concept of the move, she got really confused about where we were going. We had to be out of house in Colorado by July 25th but we couldn't be in our new house until September 1st, so we did some traveling and visiting in between. We went to a family reunion in Idaho, then drove up to Washington to visit Ryan's family and then drove to Utah and stayed with my parents until we were finally able to move into our house. At every location Sadie would ask, "Is this our new house?" Just the other day she asked me why we didn't still live at Grandma Johnson's house. I think if Sadie got to choose which house to live in, she would definitely pick Grandma Johnson's house.
August 2012
  • Sadie turned 4! And it wasn't just a one day affair. It was a month long celebration. It started in Colorado with her friend birthday party, continued in Washington with a major family party and ended in Utah with a Brewster side celebration.
  • Sadie played, and played and played. And when she thought she was just about done playing, she played some more. Thanks to Aunt Crystal for keeping her super entertained while we visited Washington. We got to see the zoo, Seattle center, Pike Place, lots of beaches and then just lots and lots of cousin time.
  • Nana and Papa gave Sadie "The Lorax" - we watched it...A LOT
September 2012
  • We moved into our new house. Sadie was super excited for her princess room
  • Started preschool again!!! She loves it and is already learning so much.
  • Started gymnastics class. She got placed in the 41/2 - 51/2 year old class because she was so good, and that is only because there wasn't room in the older class. Next session she is going to start in a tumbling class. She is thrilled because they get to do fun things like handstands and swinging on the bars and jumping on the tramps. I am happy because it uses up some of her endless energy, that if not put to good use, turns destructive rather quickly.
Oh, Man. Where has the time gone? I remember when Sadie was about 7 months old, I sat holding her in the chair, rocking back and forth, being so sad because she was growing too fast! And look at her now. She is a beautiful, bright spot of sunshine. So grown up now that there isn't even a hint of baby anymore. She is always so happy. I love her imagination. I love her songs. Dare I even say this? I love her attitude. She is independent and sure of what she wants, and while that is sometimes frustrating to me now, it will be a great strength to her as she grows.

I have to say I am not sad about her growing bigger anymore. She will always be my special girl and I am excited to see her conquer bigger and better things.

Hello? Is Anybody There?

Um.................. I have a question: When exactly did my blog die?

One day I loved writing it... and I thought that I could put some interesting, dare I even say funny, stories out into the world that people might enjoy reading. And then the next minute the thought of sitting down and trying to construct my thoughts into some kind of interesting anecdote, let alone a coherent sentence, was more than I could stand.

Yes, I have been mostly absent for a long time. There has been the occasional update on Ally. I must write those. I cherish those. (When she is a "NO" screaming two year old running around my house butt naked and covered head to toe in my makeup that I thought I had hidden away high enough I know I will need those cute, innocent little stories to save my sanity). And, it is just so fun to remember...

And then there was the ill-fated attempt at the daily picture. I thought it was a good idea at the time. That is all we will say about that.

But, I have missed documenting birthdays and family vacations and moving and potty training and preschool and...LIFE!

I have spent some time the last few days pondering on where all my motivation and creativity and time has gone.
  • The easiest answer is to simply say that I have discovered Downton Abbey.
  • Also, the decline in my writing has a direct correlation with the increase in my couch sitting time. We bought a very comfortable couch at the exact same time I started to feel that writing this blog was a chore
  • Oh yes, and about the time that we purchased this new couch and my desire to "just sit and do nothing!" jumped fourfold, we added number 4 to our happy, little clan. Lack of sleep and increased exposure to diaper duty has a way of killing the creative in you.
So, as I was trying to learn how to balance the world of mothering 2, I let a few things fall to the wayside, blogging being one of them.

This makes me sad!  I love this blog! And, we have so many friends and family that live faraway and look to this blog to stay updated on our family. And, I love looking back at past posts and remembering what was happening and how I was feeling. I love being reminded of stories I have forgotten about. I really like being creative and trying to be witty and trying to tell a story that somebody thinks is interesting enough to read.

But, the longer I didn't write the more overwhelming it became to tackle it all again. And now I am to the point that I am wondering if anybody would even notice or care if I just didn't post anymore. After all, we all have Facebook, right?

But, here's the truth: I don't write this blog for anybody but me. Sure, I hope I have some kind of a following. And, I hope those that do follow are entertained and informed. But really, I started this blog as a journal of sorts for myself. There are things that I want and need to write down so I can remember when I begin to forget.

Ally is sleeping through the night for the most part now. The move is nearly complete. And, I am feeling a need to get back to who I am. And to me that means writing. So, this is my personal goal publicly proclaimed. I am going to try to write more.

Now, should we all start taking bets on how long my motivation is going to last?

The Adventures of Miss Aly

Image
Alyssa 9 Months
Miss Aly will be 10 months on Friday. I can't quite imagine where the time has gone, but it has flown by.
Her 9 month stats were:
Height: 27 1/8" 37%
Weight: 16 lbs 9.5oz 14%
Head: 17 1/4" 46%

Alyssa has been making leaps and strides lately...and I don't mean that figuratively. She is crawling, cruising, climbing and trying to walk! I am a really terrible mom and didn't document exactly the first time I saw her crawl. I am really kicking myself for that one, but it was sometime right around her 8 month birthday. She was happy crawling for about a minute and then decided she would be more happy walking, so she has been working on that (cruising around anything she can get a hold of) ever since.

Image
Cute, naked, baby chub - cruising around the bathroom

This one is a climber! She climbs into the shower. She climbs up the tv cabinet. She climbs into boxes and up onto boxes (we have alot of those things hanging around recently). She loves to knock over the fan in her room and climb on top of it. She has no fear! And, I have been impressed at how careful she is with herself. She goes to a lot of effort to make sure she won't get hurt before she starts climbing up or down, in or out. She conquered going up the stairs on July 11th. Her inaugural voyage took her all the way to the top of our staircase on her very first try. She is also getting better at standing all on her own and I can see her little mind building confidence and calculating whether or not she can take a step without holding on to anything. Man, I wish this girl would slow down!

Image
She climbs in baskets...

Seriously, this girl climb everywhere!

With Sadie, food was a daily battle. I would beg and plead and try to force food into Sadie and she just wouldn't eat alot. Not a problem with Alyssa. In fact, I have to keep everything off the floor or else she will have it in her mouth pronto. It doesn't much matter whether it is food or not. Her current forays into non-food consumption are mud off the floor, dog food, toilet paper, crayons, leaves/grass, and shoes. However, Alyssa will not eat baby food. She is totally over it. She only wants what we are eating. But she is great at chewing, so that's what we give her.

Image
Eating the toilet paper.

Alyssa has also decided she is willing to take a bottle (she refused until about 7 months). This makes leaving her with babysitters so much easier. And, it means I don't have to breastfeed in public, which is glorious to me.

Image
Mom and Alyssa - July 4, 2012
Alyssa now has 3 teeth, with 2 or 3 more looking like they are ready to cut through. She has both her bottom teeth (which she has had for a while) and now has her top left front tooth. She has the cutest little toothy grin that melts Ryan's heart. She tucks her top lip and pushes out her bottom two teeth. We are still trying to capture it on the camera...
Image
Almost caught her toothy grin on camera...I just missed the grin part :)

Alyssa and Sadie have started really playing together. It is probably my favorite mommy moment so far. They really like to play hide 'n seek together. Sadie hides and Alyssa finds her, when she is found Sadie screams and runs to a new hiding place and Alyssa laughs hysterically and then crawls off to find her again. Sadie and Ryan often play "lions" before bedtime - Sadie tackles Ryan, climbs on top of him a roars. Well, lately, Alyssa loves to get in on the fun. She can totally take Sadie down (I see this maybe not being so cute in the future...) and she can roar too. Alyssa also likes to play keep away, usually when I am trying to dress her or change her diaper. She thinks it is just so funny to crawl away from me. She gets a little ways away, then she turns and waits for me to get close. When she sees I am coming after her she tries to get away again, but she is so excited/laughing too hard that usually her legs go faster than her hands and she ends up face planting it into the floor.

Image
Sisters! Sometimes they love each other, and other times, not so much

Alyssa is also really good at entertaining herself. She loves to crawl into the toy room and explore all the bins and treasures. Sometimes I really wish Sadie was just as good at entertaining herself.

Alyssa's new favorite tricks these days are dancing, waving and clapping. She waves at everybody from a hello from her crib first thing in the morning, to all her admirers when we go on airplanes or at church to a goodbye wave to Sadie when they go to their separate rooms at night. All we have to say is "Aly, say Hi" and she is waving at everyone. She also likes to clap. She will clap for you if she likes what you are doing and she claps for herself when she is proud of something she has done. She claps whenever you say "yea!" and she claps if she likes the music that is playing. She also dances to any music she likes. She wiggles her shoulders and head bangs. She was headbanging last week at church to "Called to Serve."

Alyssa is making a play for "the favorite child of the week" award by starting to sleep through the night. (Yea!!! Super Yea!!!) She slept through the night about half the time last week and I am hoping to increase that number this week.

Alyssa has also started making specific sounds for different people. Her first was "GEE!" for the dog (doggie). Then she started saying "DA!" for daddy and "DEE!" for Sadie. What does she call me, you might ask - the one who cares for her every want, need and desire? Nothing. She has not figured out who I am yet, beyond a cry or an outreached hand. That's love for ya, huh? :)

We love our little munch and I still can't believe how fast she is growing. Her first birthday is right around the corner.

Project 365 - April 9th

Project 365 is an attempt to capture all of these memories I am forgetting to write down. Taking a picture is an easier way to document for me all of the milestones and cute and silly things these girls are doing day to day, plus I get to see them grow right before my eyes. So, if you are interested in checking out our daily pictures, find the link to the right or just click here. Enjoy!

Sadie Swims

This has been a long winter. A very, very long winter. With far too many days when it was cold enough outside that Sadie didn't want to go outside to play. This led to way, way too much pent up energy. This pent up energy caused all sorts of problems with the mischief and the yelling and the 3 yr old attitude. Everybody's sanity was at stake. So Sadie took up swimming.

Mondays and Wednesdays she took lessons and then spent an hour or 2 playing in the pool. The lucky thing is that we killed 3 birds with one stone. Sadie is now more comfortable in the water, she got to use up a small portion of that never-ending energy and we saved mom's sanity.

She learned to blow bubbles and put her head under the water, enter, exit and recover, and a bunch of different strokes. She is working on floating front and back, coordinated hand and foot movement, and gliding underwater.

Fieldtrip Friday: Redstone Park

Sadie sings a song she learned in preschool about the spring -- well, rather, she sings one line of a song she learned at preschool: "How do you know that spring is coming?" After our Fieldtrip Friday today to Redstone Park, I now know how I would finish that song.
  • You get to spend your afternoons in the park
  • You apply your sunscreen for the very first time. If you want to ensure your skin still looks like it does mid-December you make sure it is 60+spf
  • You get to order chocolate ice cream with star sprinkles, a big glass of cherry juice with ice & colorful chicken nuggets at the playground drive-thru window from an extra happy attendant named Sadie
  • You feed the geese some day old bread
  • When you run out of bread you look for something else to throw at the geese...and have a quick lesson on how to tell the difference between pebbles and goose poop
  • You remember just how much you love the sunshine
  • You are just too tired to eat your dinner cause you spent the whole day playing so hard

    A Very Happy Un-Birthday!

6 months until cake smashing day! And 6 months behind us. Where does the time go? This year is flying by way too fast. So, here are the stats as of Alyssa's 6 month check up:
Height: 25"  29% (see I told you she wouldn't stay in the 67th percentile for long)
    Weight: 14lbs 6oz 23%
    Head: 16.5" 39%

As you saw from the last post Alyssa took up rolling over again right around her 5 month mark. She is now rolling all over the place - across rooms, under beds and tables, everywhere. She sees somewhere she wants to go and then she goes! She often throws her head backwards to try and roll away when she is being held and gets frustrated when we don't let her go.

I am ok with the rolling. It is the crawling I am dreading...and that doesn't seem to be more than a few months away. She can get her knees up underneath herself, she just hasn't figured out how to push up on her arms yet. Let's all hope it takes her awhile to figure that out.

Aly also started sitting up on her own right around 5 months. She is pretty steady now. She has also learned how to tip herself over softly when she wants to lay down and start rolling again.

Alyssa celebrated her 6 month birthday by cutting a new tooth! That's right. She has her first little tooth peeking out. It is her lower front tooth. She has not been her usual happy self for about 2 weeks and I wondered if it was a tooth, but the dr. said she didn't see any signs of teething. I guess she was wrong. I am glad that little tooth poked through and now I can have my happy baby back again.

She also celebrated by starting on fruits and veggies! Yea! She was excited about that. OK, not so excited for the veggies, but she sure does love her fruit. Her first food was carrots. Dislike. Then Sweet Potatoes. She liked those slightly better than carrots. Next Peas. HATE!!! (ha ha) She isn't crazy about bananas, but she will eat them. She likes Applesauce. And she Loves, Loves, Loves strawberries. She hasn't been too thrilled about her cereal lately. She usually loves it, so I am wondering if her appetite is just down from teething or if her taste horizons have expanded beyond that nasty looking cereal :).

    Image
    Smiles even after carrots

    Image
Can you spy Sadie in this photo? She hides when I want to take her picture, but sneaks into all of Alyssa's

Alyssa still plays with her feet pretty often, but her fingers and hands have replaced her feet as her favorite toy. She likes to pull on her fingers, suck on her fingers, and flap her arms really fast like a little bird.

Bath time is still a daily favorite, followed closely by laughing at the antics of her big sister.

Strangers are a new fear of hers. She gets really upset if someone she doesn't know tries to pick her up or gets too close to her face. This is not so great in the process of trying to be able to leave her with babysitters, but we are working on it. She does ok when I leave her at the daycare at gym as long as they leave her in her car seat. If they get her out and try to hold her she goes ballistic.

So yeah. That is what our little bug is up to these days. We love her bunches and bunches. And we might be partial, but we think she is pretty cute.
