Need I say more?

"El Jefe" showing an excellent baton pass to our captain "Jazzy John". Why "Jazzy John"? I don't know, it just came to me at the moment. And besides... it sounds cool. Eh, John?

Johnny hands off to Joshua. I don't think Joshua stopped smiling the whole 24 hours. And group consensus from runners we encountered vote Johnny the cutest runner at the 2008 Northwest Passage.

The victorious Dance4Ever team at the finish.

189 Miles...
12 Runners...
1 Family!
That about sums up the amazing experience we had at the Ragnar Relay - Northwest Passage. We ran, sweat and bonded for 189 miles over a 24 hour 15 minute period. Each runner ran 3 legs totaling 12 to 18 miles depending on the leg assigned. We started at 12 PM Friday, July 25th at Blaine, WA (on the Canadian border) and finished at 12:15 PM Saturday, July 26th in Langley, WA (an island in the gorgeous Puget Sound).
I am extremely proud of our team who, while fighting injuries (Ryan, Brent and Rhandi) and lack of preparedness (everyone), ran faster than we estimated. Our projected time was a team average of 8:17 minute miles we finished with a blazing average of 7:41 minute miles. Out of 152 teams we finished 20th overall and 4th in our "Open Male" division. Not bad for one family (and one friend) with 2 females (one being prego-Rhandi) and a 13 year old (Johnny was the youngest person to compete in the race). A side note: we did not qualify for the "Mixed" division because we had more men than women and, AND ... the "Open Male" division champion finished 2nd overall.
Although entirely exhausting (we each averaged less than 2 hours of sleep during those 24 hours) and "ragnastally" difficult, the Ragnar Relay was one of the best experiences of our lives. Being with close family and sharing the hardship together, rooting each other on and working hard for our team was truly remarkable. Thank, Uncle John, for orchestrating the event and organizing a crew of 12 different schedules and availability into 1 lean, mean, efficient crew! Thank you, Diane, Sharla, Jeanna, Kaeli and Kari for your support and time. Without you it would not have been possible! Thank you team Dance4Ever for the race of a lifetime!
