Sorry For the Lost Year!
I remembered today that I had a blog - amazing. It turns out that the last time I posted was one year to the date. I plan to summarize the past year in the next post and will try to be a faithful blogger in the months to come. I know the out of state family likes to keep track of Colt's growth and activities.

The Last 3 Months in Pictures!
The oldest ones are at the bottom and the most recent are at the top.
I know that it has been a very long time since I've updated this so for now its mostly just pics to get you up to date.
This is how I found Colt when I got out the shower this morning. He had been playing in his jumper to the doorway of my bathroom. I guess he tired himself out and feel asleep.

Scott took this one of me feeding Colt. I think mealtime is Colt's favorite time of day! He usually gets upset if I don't get the food to his mouth fast enough.

This past weekend was the Academy's Jr./Sr. Banquet at the Red Apple Inn. I had never been there before. We have since marked it as one of our next getaway destinations. The food was delicious and the views were awesome.

Colt loves the animals. Katie the dog probably loves him just as much, she wags her tail and wants to lick him whenever we go outside and he just laughs. Murin the cat, however, does not feel the same way. She tries to stay far away from him and runs anytime he gets close. She also loves to sit in his bumbo...she thinks its hers.

For Spring Break this year, Scott and I went to Mt. Magazine and spent a couple of nights and then ran over to Mt. Nebo for a day. We left Colt with my parents and enjoyed a baby-free weekend. I don't know where the pictures are to prove it but the drive up Mt. Nebo is very interesting. When you get to the curves you can clearly see the signs pointing both up and down the mountain because you have to make 180 degree turns to snake your way up.

When we got to the top of Mt. Magazine we were a little disappointed. There was no tower to climb in and with all the trees we really couldn't tell that we were at the highest point in Arkansas. We could have been in any wooded area for all we knew.

It is VERY windy on the cliffs at Mt. Magazine

Random cute picture of Colt. He will probably never crawl. He has learned how to roll to get lined up where he wants to go and then he flips over on his back and scoots till he gets there. He can get just about anywhere in the house.

Mealtime again. In this pic he has on clothes. I have since learned that eating naked (well diaper only) is the best way to go. Wipe him off when we're done and the clothes can go back on.

His second favorite time of the day has to be bathtime. I still use this infant tub because he likes to get relaxed in it. He usually gets down like this and puts both feet up on the edge. He tries to get as much of his core body in the water as possible. He is then content to just lay until I make him get out.

Of course sometimes he likes to flip over so he can swim and splash. He managed to get himself in this position even with me trying to stop him.

First Time Foods
Since Colt is almost 4 months old now and it seems like I can't keep him full, I decided to start him on baby rice today. I'm not really sure he liked it - I think it was the texture since he's used to liquids. I finally thinned it out enough to make it more the consistency of the formula he drinks. He ate it a little better then - he'd even open his mouth when I touched his lip with the spoon. Like always he was quite a messy eater!

Jury Duty - My Most Embarrassing Moment
For the past two years I have been receiving letters from the state of Arkansas informing me I had been chosen for jury duty. Three times I've been able to get out of it - twice because I was in PA school and once because I was weeks away from having a baby. This time I had no excuse. I know some people feel that it is all of our civil duty to participate in jury duty. I wouldn't have minded so much had it not been for the timing. The beginning of cold and flu season is not a good time for me to take off time from work.
Anyway, I went down to Benton this past Monday night to spend the night with my parents because Mom's going to watch Colt for me. I call the hot line to make sure I am supposed to report and my name is listed. My mom's truck had broken down so we decide that Dad will drop me off so mom can use my car during the day and then she'll come pick me up when I'm done. Dad drops me off at the federal courthouse in LR and I make my way to the Jury Assembly Room - which is very nice by the way. I wait for about 30 minutes before someone comes to check us all in. For some reason my name is NOT on the list. (Yeah! I get to leave!) The clerk tells me to wait anyway and if all the jurors show up then she'll let me go - but they don't all show up. Now I have to go through the juror orientation and be possibly picked for a jury. When we get to the courtroom, the judge explains that 22 names will be called and the rest of the people can leave. MY NAME IS ONE OF THE 22! Can you believe it? And I wasn't even on the list! Now he says that he and the lawyers are going to ask us questions and based on the answers 12 of us will have to stay. Of course I have to stay. So now I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm on a trial and will be in Little Rock all week.
The trial starts, which turns out to be a boring case, and we break for lunch. We had been back in session for about an hour when I suddenly feel nauseated. I then realize that I need to be sick - NOW!!! I didn't know what to do, so I just raised my hand and looked at the judge. As soon as he saw me I said "I'm going to be sick" and took off running for the door. The court clerk lead me to the bathroom where I was as sick as could be. After I was all cleaned up the judge called me into his office to make sure I was okay. His white lab that comes with him to the office came and put her head in my lap while we talked and followed me to the door when I left! I called mom and she came and picked me up. Throughout the day I got sicker and sicker.
What's really bad is that everything that is said during a trial is recorded for public record. I couldn't believe I made such a scene but there was nothing I could do!!! How embarrassing!

Thanksgiving 2008
As you can see from the pictures above, Colt did not like the toy turkey! He did like being passed around and played with by all the family members.
