July and the Present-less Birthday

My goal in the past has been to get no more than a month behind on my blogging, however, as October is upon us, it seems I have not fulfilled my goal : ( Anyway, here's July:

Happy Independence Day!
And here is a cool train track we built and played with for a while. We got back from Denver on the night of July 3rd, so we kept it pretty low key on the 4th. I think we went swimming and ate out at Chuy's. YUM! But that could be inaccurate considering it was 3 months ago now and these are the only pictures I took : /

HEre's the awesome cake I baked for ELi's birthday. I like to bake but I sure don't know how to decorate, I thought this was nice enough for a 3-year-old though. Inside it's strawberry with a layer of strawberry cream Oreos in the middle. It was AMAZING, if I do say so myself. Eli asked for a pink strawberry cake (super manly, I know). He always asks for random things (he's never even had strawberry cake) but now I know for certain that despite what he asks for, there are only two things he actually likes, milk and chocolate. I have made the mistake of getting him what he says he wants, but now I'm sure I really do know best. And I should have made this cake chocolate against his wishes, that way he would have eaten it. Instead, he ate about two bites and Jason, Kyah and I ate the rest.

His birthday was on a Monday so we celebrated on the Saturday before, we woke up and went to Torchy's Tacos for breakfast tacos. They were pretty yummy :)

Then, we took the lil' guy to Hermann Park to ride this train he's always going on and on about. It's like 20 minutes long and costs a lot so we've never taken him in the past, but it pretty much made his day. He still remembers riding the train on his last birthday, he sure hasn't changed much!

I guess Kyah got bored. Actually she never has transitioned very well to the afternoon nap. To this day once 10 o'clock hits I have to do everything to keep her from falling asleep, which she will do just about anywhere, as you see!
ImageImage
Afterwards they ran in the fountains at HErmann Park, Kyah was still so sleepy. Poor girl.
ImageImage
 They both tuckered themselves out!
ImageImage
 Finally, cake time!
Image
I mean, does that not look awfully delicious?

And finally, Despicable Me 2! They saw Monster's University the week before and got bored, but we felt confident this one would hold their interest, and it definitely did! Eli is at an age where he can sit and  watch a whole movie, but Kyah's definitely not, UNLESS the movie is Despicable Me. She LOVES minions more than anything! So she had no problems sitting through this movie, Jason and I enjoyed it too!

Oh, milk, chocolate and POPCORN! Those are the only foods he loves, forgot to mention popcorn :)

 Sunday nap with Daddy :)

And Eli's actual birthday. We met Jason for lunch but that's about all we did to celebrate. As for presents, we didn't get him ANY! I know, we're mean. But seriously, he doesn't need anything and we planned a fun-filled day. He didn't even realize he had no presents because he was so excited for the monster truck I put on his cake! It was a great birthday and he loved it, that's all that matters.

As for the rest of the month, we just swam and went to various splash pads everyday. We spent  every morning outside, came home for lunch and nap, and then went to the gym every afternoon/evening. They love the YMCA here. It's kind of like preschool, they have different rooms for all the ages of kids and they have a whole schedule of activities. Reading time, coloring and crafts, interactive videos, they go out to the playground, to the gym to play with kick balls, etc. It's awesome. Usually I work out for 45 minutes to an hour but Eli doesn't want to come when I go pick him up. I would love to let him stay, but that would require me to exercise longer, which I don't want to do. I've even gone to the pool by myself a couple of times so they could have longer playtime. It's basically amazing and far superior to every other YMCA I've ever been to.
ImageImage
Whenever we go to the splash pad all the little girls take a liking to Kyah. This particular time it was a bit excessive, they were like her entourage following her everywhere. It made Eli super jealous and me kind of sad because Eli used to draw that kind of attention from the older kids, too! But now he does which could only mean... he's becoming one of the older kids :*(

And it appears we are embarking upon potty training, again! Gosh I feel like I just did this! Oh wait, I did! I suppose having children a year apart makes me feel like that often. Anyway, don't let that smile fool you, she hates the potty and is proving to be very difficult to train, as I predicted! What's easy with one will inevitably be impossible with the other. Booo...

Cow Appreciation Day! Woo hoo free chicken!

ImageImage
She loved that nose! Eli, not so much...
ImageImage
Image
Kyah trying to wear Eli's sunglasses... it's hard to see but they're on the side of her head.
Image
There was a thunderstorm one night and the kids were too scared to go to sleep so we let them sleep in our bed, how cute :)
Image
Kyah got a backpack for her Sacrament activities. She didn't take it off for about a month.
ImageImage
Sharing an ice cream cone, so sweet!
Image
Image
Sunday suckers. The Bishop gives all the kids candy after church each week, they get pretty excited about it.
Image
Eli had asked me for his Pirate's Booty, and the next thing I know he had fallen asleep using them as his pillow!
Image
And oh my goodness, still not used to the red ants. I cannot avoid them. I get bit at least once or twice a week and this is what happens every single time! They are so miserable I can barely walk, my foot gets so swollen and I wake up at night practically clawing myself to death from the unbearable itch that somehow burns at the same time. They are awful. Love the south, hate, hate HATE red ants. Ugh. It was so nice visiting colorado and actually being able to walk in the grass!

June

June was a busy month! Once the kids and I got back from Colorado, we just had a little time to unpack and get settled into the new place before heading to San Antonio for Jason's Family's reunion in San Antonio. Here's some random pictures of Eli, Kyah and their shenanigans:

ImageImage
Eli got some new goggles which he was pretty excited about. They basically replaced the sunglasses he nearly always has on his head. This particular day the kids got in my shoe closet and Eli kept asking me to take pictures of him in my shoes... well, if you insist!
Image
ImageImage
Eli took a liking to the incredibly cheesy 1980's Netflix video "All About Monster Trucks." He would watch it over and over again for weeks. There's even a genie named Hard Hat Harry! It's bad...
Image
Sometimes they like each other :)
ImageImageImage
Image
We rarely, RARELY stay home. I am not a homebody and I think I've trained my kids to be the same. If we don't get up and leave right away in the morning, Eli will ask me a hundred times when we're going to go somewhere. So, these are some pictures I took on one of the only morning we've ever stayed home...
Image
And here is the main reason I don't stay home:
ImageImageImage

They play for several hours and pass out at 10 AM. Nap time isn't until 1 so this basically ruins my entire day.
Image
These kids are like magnets to a freshly-made bed : /
Image
I'v said before, Eli loves to look at motorcycles parked right out front of stores. Obviously I wasn't too thrilled about this one. And yes, he did notice and point out the "boobs."
ImageImage
Ooh La La Bakery! It's really yummy. Like, way better than any other bakery. We've made it our post-gym Friday afternoon ritual.

Glover Family Reunion:
Image
We stopped at the San Antonio Temple to check it out. Eli likes to see different temples, too.
ImageImage
Lunch at Longhorn Cafe. Jason and his family love this place and I was skeptical but I do have to say, it was amazing. Next stop, Dude Ranch! Just kidding, the reunion wasn't really at a dude ranch, but it was at a big ranch with a lake, zip line, paddle boats, canoeing, sand volleyball, pool, big floating trampoline, mini golf, rope swing, you name it! We all had our own little house to stay in and there was a giant communal room where we all ate, played games, etc. It was the funnest vacation! All we did was play non-stop. I honestly felt like a kid again! Unfortunately, because we did so many water activities, I took hardly any pictures. But here are a few pictures other people took:

Napping wasn't ideal for the kids, Kyah actually fell asleep on my lap in the paddle boat.

Our awesome sand volleyball team.

We had some professional line dancers come and teach us.

A few family pics. And Great Grandma and Grandpa Glover.

Image
The whole crew! Unfortunately some of the only few who missed it this year were our family. Adam had summer school and Ryan, Erin and the kids were going to Washington for Erin's family reunion. The dynamic worked out that everyone kind of gravitated towards their immediate family, naturally, which really made us miss Ryan and Erin. Especially since Eli loves Kherington and Kevin. Oh well, they're moving from Belgium to Dallas in just a few months!! Yay :)
Image
Back home for Father's Day :)
ImageImage
A farewell smooch for Grandpa. He had to head to the airport as we were leaving for church. Grandma stayed for a few extra days.
Image
The problem with 1 o'clock church, Eli fell asleep in the car on the way and slept through all of sacrament. Bad because he didn't learn anything, good because we didn't have to spend an hour nagging him to be reverent.
Image
Splash pad with grandma.
ImageImage
We love having the splash pad right across the street, it sure does come in handy on these hot, boring summer days,
ImageImageImage
Kyah being silly and shakes at Chick-Fil-A.

My kitchen helper. Milk and TV while I prep lunch.

Colorado (round 2):
ImageImage
Night flights are THE way to go when traveling with youngins! Easiest trip ever. And, the flight wasn't full so we got a whole row to ourselves. Kyah liked having her own seat.

We went to check in on my Dad but he was working the whole time so we didn't see much of him during the day. Having health problems and owning your own small business is not an ideal situation. Anyway, here are all the pictures I took of our various adventures. It was a fun trip, last time we were in Colorado we were just trying to help my Dad in any way and keep him company at the hospital as much as possible, but this time we actually got to visit with friends and enjoy ourselves.
ImageImage
A trip to Chick-Fil-A is always entertaining.
Image
Image
My Dad has 2 AWESOME playgrounds within 50 yards of his house. We loved it! For the past two years the only playground we knew of was a 10 minute drive, same with here in Texas. It sucks.
ImageImage
Park Meadows mall and milkshakes.
ImageImage
Butterfly Pavillion with Mama Vic! We loved seeing one of my best friends ever and the second mother of Eli. Victoria and I spent 10 hours a day working side by side (literally, we shared a desk) when I was pregnant with Eli. I miss her dearly and would be much happier if we could live closer to her. Anyway, we met Victoria and her husband Chris at the Butterfly Pavilion which, by the way, is a HUGE disappointment/waste of money. I strongly discourage you from going. But at least we had good company!
ImageImage
At least we got a couple cute pictures.

Kyah played dress-up in he gift shop.

Pool Day with Uncle Ty Ty:

And, oh the joys of sharing a full size bed with my 2 children:

ImageImage
Kyah was obsessed with Tonka, him not so much with her.

Eli trying on Ty Ty's sweet shades.

Walking Tonka and the kids to the playground every morning and every afternoon was seriously amazing. I have gotten so used to having to load everyone in the car to go anywhere! I forgot how much for granted I took sidewalks and playgrounds everywhere in Colorado. Not to mention, being able to walk outside in the summer and not instantly be soaked in sweat! I really wish Jason could have been with us to enjoy it. He would have loved it.

Another really awesome park.
Image
Image
Kyah didn't care much for this twisting thing...
ImageImage
ImageImage
Is this place not amazing?! I forget the name of it, but biggest park I've ever seen!
Image
Image
One day I stopped to get gas and noticed my tire was leaking air. I looked up and noticed a Discount Tire conveniently located right across from the gas station! I dropped the car off and they fixed the tire for free... I know, amazing! But in the meantime, we got Eli a haircut :)
ImageImage
Kyah napped on the couch with Tonka mot days while Eli hogged the bed. And, Tonka being a good sport while the kids played with him. Poor old guy, I give him credit for putting up with them!
Image
ImageImage
Mim's Cafe muffins! I miss these, they are so good!
ImageImage
We stopped by the temple distribution center and the kids wanted to say "Hi" to Jesus. Eli's exact words.
Image
I took them to their first movie! Monster's University. They were not impressed. They probably spent more time playing in these rocks outside of the theater than they did sitting in the movie. Good waste of 20 bucks!

And that's about all the pictures I took in Colorado, I really wish I took at least one picture of my Dad! But I really didn't see as much of him as I would have likes and he probably wouldn't want me to take pictures of him when he wasn't feeling well. Next time!
Image
Oh and going through old photos I found this. It's pretty awesome, I'd say. As you can tell, I'm a natural beauty!
