Brayden Neil was born on Wednesday July 22, 2015 at 3:29pm at McKay Dee Hospital.
I started to notice regular contractions about 4:30am. After counting a few regular ones I decided to get in the shower and get ready just in case. His due date was the day before and Megan had come up to stay the night if by chance anything happened during the night. After getting ready the contractions were consistently 5 mins apart so I told Megan we were off and to get Danelle ready for school (she had started 2 days before.)
Lane and I picked up breakfast from Sill's cafe on the way, since everyone told me to make sure you eat before you check in, otherwise they make you wait till after the baby is born :) We even walked a lap around the hospital just to make sure the contractions were legit and not false labor. After checking in at the hospital the nurse said I was dialated to about a 5cm and something to the effect of my "water bag was bulging", meaning my water was close to breaking. She said I would be staying which was a huge relief to know that I would have to go home and wait it out.
We waited as they ordered my antibiotic for Group B Strep and then Lane and I sat back and watched Netflix for an hour or two. The contractions weren't to bad but we went ahead and got the epidural just to be safe. Next they gave me some pitocin and the Dr. came and broke my water. He said he would be back in about an hour or so when I was ready to deliver. After an hour of watching my contractions on the monitor they had me hooked up to, the nurse checked me and said I was ready to start pushing. It was so weird how smooth and planed out everything was going. The nurse called the Dr. and she had me push a couple times to get the baby into position. Dr. Housel showed up about 15 mins later and 3 sets of pushes later Brayden was here!
He came in weighing 9 lbs 9 oz. and 22 inches long. He had dark blue eyes and a full head of dark hair (which the nurse and Dr. all informed me about as I was pushing, kinda weird to hear :)
Later that day Megan brought Danelle and Gunnar to visit. They were so sweet and whispered as they came in. They each got a "Birthday" present from Brayden, a Science/Crystal growing kit for Danelle and Hulk gloves for Gunnar. The next day we had more visitors, Lane parents and his nephew as well as Nathan, Breanne and Ginny. I had to stay till Friday morning before I could check out (to monitor baby due to Group B Strep) but everything went great with the baby and I and we headed home on Pioneer Day (July 24th). I'm a little surprised at how much more I am relaxed with baby #3. Either he's just an easier baby than the other 2 or I actually know what i'm doing this time around. The older 2 siblings seem to be adjusting pretty well also and are always begging to hold him, or kiss his head. Welcome to the family Brayden!
