God help us when she is 16

I am starting a resolution early this year and am going to start sharing cute stories from the kids on the blog again even if I don't have time to post pics.  So here is the first installment- enjoy.

Our best friends here in Oklahoma have a little boy Ellie's age.  His mother and I have been promoting their arranged marriage since birth.  His dad has been deployed to Afghanistan since last January so every Sunday night they come and eat dinner at our house which has really helped move the kids "relationship" along.  Last Sunday, Ellie experience her first heart break when Chase (my friend's son) said he no longer wanted to be her boyfriend and would not be marrying her.  She broke down if full out tears- she is 4!!!!

Well the next day at school did not go any better but by Tuesday it looked like she was finally acting like a regular 4 year old and not a teenager and was content just playing with barbies.  That night as we were snuggling and talking before bedtime (which is when I find she tells me the most) Ellie tells me she is not going to marry Chase anymore because now she is going to marry Collin.  She now blushes everytime she talks about Collin- Mike and I are really going to have a work cut out for us when this one is 16.

Michigan 2012- Subby's First Ride!

We just got back from the best vacation to MIchigan we have ever had!  It was Subby (the RV) inaugural trip and it could not have gone better.  Whenever you are driving 20 hours with two kids under 4 you never know how the vacation will go- will they sleep, what if one gets sick, will they be monsters because they so off schedule- but I am happy to say despite a few bumps in the beginning none of these concerns were a problem and we enjoyed every minute.   It was beautiful weather- we woke up everyday and walked right on to our beach to start playing.  We had tons of time to visit with family that we do not see enough (thanks Navy) and Ellie and Tripp were spoiled with attention.   We celebrated Ellie's 4th birthday surrounded by family and it was perfect.  And after just getting back from the 20 hour trip home I can honestly say I can not wait to go back next year- that is how perfect it was.

Once again I am so overwhelmed by how blessed we are and make sure to thank God everyday!

MAJOR FAIL!

Image

Today I am having to remind myself to forgive- everyone but especially myself.  I had a MAJOR MOMMY FAIL today.  First, work has been crazy so I had a meeting last night until 10 pm so I did not get to tuck my children in, cuddle them, talk to them about their days, etc.  Then this morning was Ellie's birthday blessing at school- and I had to miss it.  Luckily her teacher was nice enough to stand in for me but how much do I suck.  I have never missed any of Ellie's events- all school performances and parties are on my calender, I go to every dance practice, soccer practice, party, etc.; I overcompensate on her snack day to make up for not being the room mother or being able to pick up her up from school.  But today I failed because I had a previously scheduled hearing and I HATE IT.  I am having a little pity party and was hoping Ellie would not notice until I talked to her and she said "i understand why you were not there" and tells my babysitter it is ok because "she knows mommy will be there next year."  I am crying as I write this- yes I work but I never want my children to feel that or feel as if my work comes before them because it does not.  I never want them to feel rejected or neglected and today I did not prevent that from happening.  I failed.  Being a mom is hard, being a work mom sometimes feels like complete insanity.  So today I am have to remind myself to forgive- forgive clients who drive me crazy, bosses who do not understand family conflicts, and mostly myself for not being everything to everyone.

Military Spouses Appreciation Day

This was written by the Chief of Naval Operations and I could not have said it better myself- to all my fellow Military Spouses - YOU ROCK!

AS WE OBSERVE MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY ON 11 MAY
THIS YEAR, WE HONOR THE MILITARY SPOUSES WHO HAVE SELFLESSLY SERVED
ALONGSIDE THEIR ACTIVE-DUTY HUSBANDS AND WIVES.  THEY KEEP OUR
FAMILIES "ON COURSE AND SPEED," AND THEIR SUPPORT ENABLES US TO FOCUS
ON THE MISSION AT HAND - TO BE READY AND TO OPERATE FORWARD AROUND
THE WORLD.  BY THEIR DEVOTION AND STRENGTH, WE REMAIN THE GREATEST NAVY
THIS WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN.

ON MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY, WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEMANDS
ON OUR FAMILIES.  THERE IS AN INSCRIPTION ON ONE OF THE 26 BRONZE RELIEF
SCULPTURES AT THE NAVY MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON, DC THAT ACCURATELY
STATES:  "THE NAVY FAMILY:  THEY WHO WAIT ALSO SERVE."  WE ALL KNOW
THAT WHEN SAILORS GO TO SEA, THE CHALLENGES AT HOME CONTINUE, AND OUR
MILITARY SPOUSES BEAR THE BURDEN EACH DAY IN SUPPORT OF THEIR LOVED
ONES AND IN SERVICE TO THEIR NATION.  WE THANK OUR HUSBANDS AND WIVES
FOR THEIR CONSTANT PATIENCE AND STEADFAST UNDERSTANDING AS THEY OFTEN
FACE THE CHALLENGES AT HOME OR CELEBRATE LIFE EVENTS WITHOUT US.
THOUGH THEY MAY NOT WEAR THE UNIFORM - IT IS THEIR HONOR, COURAGE,
AND COMMITMENT THAT SUSTAINS US.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME ON 11 MAY TO SHOW OUR SPOUSES HOW MUCH WE
APPRECIATE THEM.  THAT SPECIAL DAY SYMBOLIZES THE HONOR AND RESPECT
WE HOLD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR OUR SPOUSES AND THE MANY CONTRIBUTIONS
THEY MAKE EACH DAY TO OUR NAVY AND OUR NATION.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SERVICE.

So much fun!

We have been having lots of fun here- spring is in the air and the Piedmonts love it.  I just wish it did not get so hot and it could be like this all summer.  We have had soccer which Ellie continues to thrive at scoring a goal at her second game too!  We also are celebrating Easter for several weeks it seems heading to a couple Easter egg hunts, dying eggs and of course eating candy!  I am just once again so thankful for all we have and hope you enjoy the pics!

Ellie and the Easter Bunny- she really like him- funny story when she saw all the eggs she said- "Mommy the Easter Bunny laid all these eggs- they came out of his tushy!"

Ellie's First Soccer Game- She is a Natural!

Ellie had her first soccer game last saturday and she as fantastic scoring the only goal for her team!  Mike was home with tripp because it was nap time which left me in charge of video and cheering- lets just say the video suffered because of it plus the battery died right as ellie scored- sorry.  Hopefully I will be able to get a full video from one of the other parents but until then Mike edited my sub par video into this great video above- Enjoy!

Welcome Family and Friends!

With addition of our precious angel, I figured it was time to start a blog so that everyone could be blessed with updates on her many developments and pictures of our adorable baby. All this plus my witty insights - who could ask for anything more from a blog. Enjoy!
