8 Weeks

Image

(He has a look of disgust in this pic. I don't think he's a fan of a camera in his face.)

Zane had his 8 week appt. yesterday and unfortunately got a few shots. His face turned bright red right when she gave him the first shot. He was so upset for just a few minutes and then fell asleep quick. It was so sad to see him in so much pain.

He weighed 14 lb 7 oz and 23.5 " long. (85th-97th%)

About Zane:

-A couple nights ago was the first night in his crib and he did fabulous.
-He was sleeping through the night for about a week and then he decided he had enough of that. So for a few days he was waking up a couple times. But luckily he falls back asleep quickly.
-He loves to eat and is good at it.
-His burps could compete with Derek's.
-Bath time is his favorite. He just smiles and kicks away.
-As of right now, his eyes are a darker blue.
-Also as of right now, his hair looks strawberry blonde.
-He just started wearing 6 month clothes.
-He likes to scowl at us.
-He likes the binky. Especially the basketball one :)
-8:00 every night he gets fussy. So hopefully he grows out of that soon.
-He loves car rides.
-The swing is a miracle worker.
-Right now he has a cold along with me. No fun. So the boogie sucker is our best friend.
-And he is as adorable as can be!
We love baby Zane so much!!

He was staring into his Daddy's eyes. It was adorable. Derek was trying to get him to smile, but it didn't work too well.
(His poor band aids from his shots :( )

Blessing Day

ImageImage
We blessed Zane on Sunday, the 4th.
Derek gave him such a great blessing. He got emotional before he even started to speak. (Just to let you know, before Zane was even born, Derek was stressing out about the blessing. Poor guy.)

I LOVE having family so close, especially for occasions like these.
We snapped a pic with my family and meant to get one with Derek's family later but forgot (Shauna had to hurry and get food ready).

My Mom is becoming quite the photographer.
She also is quite the seamstress and crocheter (you all know that though). She made his adorable little outfit, the blanket, and the booties.

I love his little bow tie!

4 Weeks

Image
This little squirt is 4 weeks old and we can't get enough of him!
It's crazy how you can love something so small, so quick. Even when they wake you up in the night!

I took him to the doctors yesterday because I noticed his eye was getting goopy. Well he has a plugged tear duct and a mild infection. So I am hoping both go away quick!
He weighed 11 lbs 14 oz. (No wonder my back has been killing me!

Happy Halloween!

Image
Little Zaners was our baby calf for Halloween.
Shauna found the costume for him and we think it was perfect!
We should have dressed up as farmers, but didn't.
We ended up going to visit Derek's G&G and spend some time with them.

Here's to many many more Halloweens!!

Baby Zane

Image
Our sweet little baby Zane has arrived!

(The pic above was taken 3 days before his debut.)

On Thursday Oct. 4th, I woke up around 3 am with a feeling that this baby is coming. I couldn't lay down comfortably. I then realized I was having contractions. (I was worried that I wouldn't know what contractions felt like. HA!)
So I got out of bed, got on Google and browsed to see if I truly was in labor. Google knows all!
I then started timing and they were about 10 min apart. I could not sit down at all.
I turned on the TV to try and relax and of course multiple episodes of The Baby Story was on. So I took notes episode after episode.
After 3 hours of walking laps around the house, watching TV, and timing contractions, I decided I needed to wake Derek up and tell him to get ready.
I told him that he was going to be a daddy today. He didn't believe me at first. And then it hit him, he was sooo nervous! So we took showers, got ready, packed bags, made breakfast, got a blessing, and just waited.
Contractions were about 5 min apart and that is when my midwife said to call her.
I called her up and she said to come on in to her office and she'd check me. We went in and I was at a 5. It was game time!
We got checked into the hospital around 9:30ish.
I got my epidural (aaaaamazing!!) a couple hours later and felt on cloud nine.
And then just waited & waited.
Derek's mom came and checked on us. And then my mom showed up around 2.
I was feeling great. It was weird to think that I was about to have a child. The Baby Story made it look much worse!
The nurse came and checked me (not sure what time) and said I was ready to go. While the nurses started bringing in tables of knives and scissors (scary sight), we waited for my midwife to show up.
Since I couldn't feel my contractions, the nurses had to tell me when to push. I pushed through 3-4 contractions and then finally at 3:58, Zane Derek Roylance arrived in all his chubby glory.
We asked the nurse how much she thought he weighed. She said a good 7 lbs. My midwife said, "No way, he is a good 9 lbs". What?!!?

Right before my midwife showed up.

Image
Derek was more nervous than me! Poor guy almost had a heart attack!
Image
Baby Zane! His poor head was very cone shaped and swollen.
Image
It was scary because he turned so purple. (The pic looks worse than in real life)

 Derek cutting the cord.
Image
Right after oxygen. It was crazy how quick the purple faded.
Image
 9 8.3 lbs!
When Derek first saw the screen, he thought it was 8.3 lbs. And that is how much he weighed when he was born, so he thought that was pretty sweet. Until we told him there was a 9 in front of that 8.3. Haha!
Image
 He was 20 inches long.
The new daddy with his son.

My first time holding him all cleaned up. I was still in shock.

 Family of 3 now!

Trying to open up his eyes.

And soon after the visitors started coming in.
The new Grandpa and Grandma!
Image
My Mom! She was so helpful! I didn't want her to leave the room. So she got to stay and be the photographer. :)

Keston was soo excited to "carry him".

 Jared rockin the babe.

Mitch and Marissa practicing on holding a baby. Their time is coming quick.

The next day I celebrated my birthday in the hospital and just smooched on my little guys cheeks all day.

Getting ready to go home.

 His first car ride.

We got home, showered, unpacked and reality hit. Ha! We were stuck with this little guy.

But we wouldn't want it any other way. We love little Zane so much and we are glad he finally joined our family. He was well worth the wait!!

Sabin Olympics 2012

ImageImageImage
Our reunion this year was Olympic themed. It was a fun filled weekend with tons of activities!
We first started off with getting family pictures done, since Jared is leaving in Nov. for his mission. We then ate and got the party started. We had our opening ceremony, with the torch and flag raising. Paige sang for us while the kids ooohed and ahhhhed.
Image
We then received our uniforms. Even the little guy got one!
Image
The next morning started bright and early. Everyone got their uniforms on and got ready to compete. These two little munchkins (2 weeks apart) have a love hate relationship. They are hilarious together.

Our family flag that Derek drew. (He didn't finish)

Jared ready to dominate, and he did.

The mothers lounge included these two adorable buggers. We were laughing that they were in the wrong colored bouncy seats.
We had to take a break so Kate could go to the walk in clinic and get her gash in her mouth glued.
Image
Slip 'n slide time. Reagan looved it!
Image
 And so did the boys.

Dad "tanning his legs". He told me that's what he was doing. (haha!)

This was in the most exciting pic of the day. The guys decided to make a jump under the slide and this is Derek trying it out. He has perfect form!

 Relay race.

How many people can fit on a loveseat?
Image
Sunday night the guys shared about their missions. It was neat to hear about some of their experiences and see pictures. I hope it got Jared pumped!

We then had our closing ceremony and we all got gold medals!! We are all winners!
