A couple weekends ago we drove up to Gilroy in the middle of the night. With Harry Potter on his iPod, Aaron was a driving machine and drove the whole way. Although it was a quick trip (we headed back to San Diego Sunday night), we absolutely had to be there to help welcome home Aaron's brother, Nick. He just returned home from his 2 year mission in Brazil. We're really proud of him, and glad he's home safe. When Nick left, he was an extremely quiet guy who only ate pizza. Now he's a moderately quiet guy who eats pizza, beans, and rice.

San Diego's not so bad
On friday I had a huge cardiovascular physiology test. I've spent the last week and a half hiding from the world going through 300+ pages of info, so imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and realized that life did indeed exist outside of purkinje fibers, electrocardiograms, and beta blockers (note: in actuality, all of our lives depend on purkinje fibers). Anyway, since I spend 90% of my life in my apartment, in class, and at the hospital (and 5% in transit between them), it's easy to forget that I live in a beautiful place, only five minutes from the beach. I decided to take the weekend off despite all of the other things I should probably study, and we went to the beach to play catch and stuff. It was a balmy 75 degrees without a cloud in the sky--I guess it's not so bad to live here. Seth seemed to enjoy his day too.

Victory!
I won the big Super Bowl bet between Aaron and I. It had nothing to do with football. Notice the boy in the above picture is crawling, not walking. He did not learn to walk by Super Bowl Sunday, as Aaron bet he would. He's almost there. He walks holding only one of our hands, and stands by himself for short periods. Despite Aaron's vigorous drills with Seth, my discouraging his ambulation proved to be more powerful. Now I will be enjoying some guilt-free relaxing evenings of not doing any dishes, while Aaron does them, even if he has a ton of studying to do.
The Mysterious Cold Box
For a kid who doesn't eat much food, Seth is pretty obsessed with the refridgerator. Every time we open it, he makes a mad dash to get in there and explore. He's very disappointed when we shut him out every time and try to reason with him about energy conservation, global warming, food spoilage, etc. He should be grasping these concepts by now. Anyway, we indulged him a couple nights ago, and he had the time of his life (at 10 months old, it's not too tough).
