Seth is 6

In case you missed it, Seth turned 6.

This present came all the way from Carcassonnes, France from Grandma and Grandpa Rutman. It was also lost with our baggage a few days traveling the world, before it was recovered and shipped back to Seattle.

Image
He loves it.

Image
We had a little family party with him since his birthday was on a schoolnight.

Presents are fun.

Easter

Easter was a good time this year. We got a late start dying eggs on Saturday night after Seth's birthday party, but they were excited.
Image
I guess this is Ada, excited. She's all business.
Image
Nothing like a little pagan-ization to really make a Christian holiday fun.

Image
Ada took her coloring very seriously.
Image
And was pretty sad when she dropped and cracked an egg.
Image
Kinda fake sad actually.
Image
Ada's laughin' about somethin', as usual.
ImageGetting late, Ada starting to look tired.
Image
Fading...
Image
Ready to go to bed and leave the eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide.
Image
Image
Easter morning, Seth was pretty stoked about all the eggs he found.
 Image
Ada was less enthusiastic about his success, and somewhat discouraged about her lack thereof.

Little League

When we were signing up for Little League earlier this Spring we realized that Seth was kind of in-between leagues as far as his age. T-ball is for ages 4-6, and Farm league for ages 6-8. Seth turned 6 the first week of the season. I gave him the option to do T-ball again or to try Farm league with the older and bigger kids. He said he wanted to try it with the big kids, with the understanding that he might not have the experience and size of the other kids. (Which I knew would be hard for a kid as competitive as he is). But he wanted to go for it, and it's been fun to see him improve over the course of the season. He's on the Huskies.
 Image
So our boy Seth is the youngest kid on a team of 7 and 8 year olds. Plus, he's pretty small for a 6 year old.
Image
He's kind of like the team mascot.
Image
But he's not a bad hitter at all.
Image
He can swing it with the big kids.
Image
Image
He has the makings of your typical leadoff hitter.

Midseason, the coaches started pitching from further away so the big kids could start to get prepared for the next league up for next year.  Seth initially had a rough time with this (mostly because the coaches can't put the ball in his 3 inch strike zone from that distance). He went through a rough patch where he wasn't getting a lot of good hits. He looked pretty discouraged in the field one day so his coach asked him, "Seth, what's wrong?" He replied, "Oh, I'm just in a slump." His coach thought that was pretty funny.
Image
This was not one of his finer moments. We need to work on getting out of the way.
