Seen and Heard at Disneyland...

Image

Let's Rock 'em and Sock 'em!

Mia, as we were getting out to start our day at Disneyland.

Mom, don't you wish Everything was in 3D?
Kayleb, while watching Captain Eo.

I don't want a new baby. Ever.
Mia, as I turned my backpack around and pretended it was a baby in my belly.

I know I'm a cheap date but Geez!
Nick, because I wouldn't buy him cotton candy.

I don't know how I got it in there!
Mia, when she got her head stuck in a hand railing.

Tinkerbell! I got Tinkerbell underwears on!!
Mia, obviously...

We started out our California trip with me and Nick going to Magic Mountain for the day on Sunday, I have never been there before. We opened and closed the place! We rode every big ride at least once. It was so fun to be able to spend a day just the two of us. Those days sure come far and in between! He thought I couldn't hang and would wimp out on some of the rides. I sure proved him wrong!
It was good to be able to ride the big roller coasters since Disneyland would be a lot more low key.

Our trip to Disneyland was great! The kids were so excited to be going. They were so patient standing in lines but luckily they weren't too long. We got to ride all of the big rides and hit most of the "main attractions" as well. Mia got to ride Space Mountain but confusingly she was too short to ride Big Thunder Railroad and Splash Mountain when she needed to be 40" to ride them all. It sure made the "Happiest Place on Earth" not so happy. But I hit Pirates of the Carribbean with her 3 times to make up for it...

Birthday Babies!!

So this past few weeks have been pretty birthday packed for our little family! All of our birthdays are within 3 weeks of each other. My little Kayleb turned 6 and my littlest baby girl is now 3!! I know, I can hardly believe it myself...

Image
Kayleb's birthday was first and he finally turned 6! He is the oldest kid in his class but oddly enough is not the biggest. Hmmmm... The kid sure didn't get my genes, he's a bit on the skinny side...
He is a really good kid, he has such a good heart and just wants to be the best at everything. He's just a typical roudy little boy. He is doing great in school. He is beginning to read so many different words and writes his name perfectly. He loves school and is making some good friends, he even has this secret handshake with one of the kids in his class; how cute is that?
Here's a funny thing he said the other day; the kids had just started eating dinner Kayleb is all quiet and eating all fast and then he looks at me and says:

"Mom, this chicken is so good, I just want to put my face in it." I about fell over laughing.

Image
Mia's birthday is today (which is what prompted me to finally post again). She is so excited to finally be 3 too! These kids just want to get older and I just want them to stay little. She's our little Sassyfrass. I had no idea kids her age said the things she says. Everyday is something new. She's such a girly girl but she's really tough too. She sure holds her own with her brother and her dad! Half the time we can't even get mad at her when she talks back because we're too busy laughing. She was walking around all day today singing Happy Birthday to herself. She doesn't need to wait for anyone else. I feel sorry for her teachers in a couple of years. She's the one we're gonna have to worry about for the rest of our lives...
I had no idea 2 siblings could be so different!

Update

So I guess I'll give a little update to those of you who care, which I'm assuming is all of you since you're checking this...anyway.

So yes we are finally in Vegas! I love this place! Things are a little different then planned though that's for sure. Remember how earlier I wrote about staying at home with the kids for a little while? Ya well that didn't work out so much. Some people are good at being stay at home moms, I'm not one of those people.

Anyway, so yes I am back to working full time. I got a really good job working for the State of Nevada at the Labor Commissioner's office. It probably sounds fancier then it is. But I really am enjoying my job. Morning traffic not so much. Little pat on the back for myself, it was the first and only interview I went on. Ya I know..

So I think that pretty much sums up our recent events! Things are good though, we are happy and healthy and that's still all that matters!

"Kindergarten Guy"

Image
Heeeyyyy, I'm baaaacckkk!!

Long time no blog everybody! Things have been crazy in our lives lately but I'm getting back on track but I first need to blog about my little Kayleb going to Kindergarten!!

Today was Kayleb's first day of school, he was so excited he could hardly handle it, he's been counting down for days now and the day has finally come. On Friday his school had an open house where we could go meet the teacher and fill out paperwork. I have to admit it was pretty overwhelming, I still feel like a teenager myself and here I am taking a kid to school?? What happened here??

He was so excited this morning. He was so tough too, half the kids were crying and Kayleb was looking at them like they were crazy. During the class the kids colored a picture and the teacher asked them how they felt on their first day and Kayleb said "nervous". How cute is that? He's such a tough little kid and you would never know he was nervous but I guess he was but he did such a good job.

Anyway, here's some pics of my little man on his first day. They were kind of rushed because we did not anticipate all the traffic at the school this morning. That's Vegas for ya!!

Mia calls him her "Little Kindergarten Guy", she wants to go to school too so we've had a bit of a rough time explaining to her why she can't go. She keeps saying "I just want to be 5!!"

New "Doo"

Image
Just thought I'd share how well a 2 year old can do her own hair. She decided to pull out her piggy tails at nap time and then proceeded to brush her hair. I really don't think this picture even does it justice. It's a lot longer than I thought...

Sorry it was taken with my phone and I don't know how to turn it the right way so you'll have to turn your head to the side.

Zoo Time

We spent the weekend at my parent's for Mother's Day and my mom and I decided to take the kids to the zoo. It was the first time Mia really got into it, now that she knows all her animals she recognizes them and gets so excited to see them. We saw everything except the reptile house, we started walking in and the smell was making me dry heave so we had to leave.

Image

Mia LOVES elephants so it was cool to be able to see how they feed them and take care of them, this elephant was actually pregnant. They are pregnant for 22 - 24 months. This made me realize that I would never want to be an elephant. You are now probably asking yourself "Did she used to WANT to be an elephant or something?" The answer to that is: YES. I think it would be so cool to be bigger than everything else and be able to eat with a big long nose that's like a hand - it's fascinating. Or a whale, those are the two animals I would like to be - if I had to be an animal that is...any way. I could go on all day.

Image
Obviously enthused by the zebras...

Image
My mom was wearing a black and white striped sweater. Right now I imagine the zebras are wondering how she got out and they are still fenced in...

Image
Image
The kids also rode the carousel which they loved and wanted to ride over and over again. Either the carousel is new or we never walked that direction before because we had never seen it.

And last but not least we saw two giraffes trying to "play leap frog" as Kayleb so accurately observed. Good times at the Hogle Zoo!

and the nominees for "Best Baby Sitter" are...

Mia Noelani Ervin

For having cute dimples and not dropping her baby cousin with her little 2 year old arms.

Image

Kayleb Malik Ervin

For keeping his composure and even giving a little smile while the baby screamed her head off.

Image

And the winner is....

Benjamin Tatom!

By a landslide!!

And yes he does take new clients, who wouldn't want him watching their child??

In Other News...

So we FINALLY have so news to report!

We will be moving to Las Vegas at the end of June!

This week we had a cute young couple decide to rent our house so now we are able to finally move to Vegas and be together again! No more "single mom" action. Well it actually wasn't that bad, he did come home twice a month but still it was rough on all of us.

So now we just have to find a place to live in Vegas. We are going down this weekend to start looking at apartments. We really want to buy but it's just not really feasible right now but hopefully soon; so it'll be an apartment living for a little while at least. That's ok though, most of them have multiple pools and playgrounds and gyms so there are some perks! I don't have a job down there yet so it's gonna be skinny living for a while but I'm ok with that. Momma needs the summer off!

Just thought I'd give everyone an update, now that I actually have one. Looks like our prayers are answered! It will be almost exactly a year since we have been a part. Nick moved to Vegas at the end of June of last year. Crazy how stuff happens like that. But everything happens for a reason so I believe even though this last year has been really hard, this is how it is supposed to be.

So again if anyone wants a trip to Sin City you are always welcome, well... not you creepy blog stalkers, ya I'm talking to you. You stay where you are.

But everyone else is welcome!!

New Niece!

Image
I got a new niece a couple of days ago everybody!!
Camryn La'akea Tatom was born on Friday April 17th, good thing she missed her tax day due date of the 15th, that's just got to be bad luck...
Look how cute she is, even with her newborn squooshy face, she's still adorable!
My brother and his wife live in Idaho so we don't get to see them too often, they already have 2 other girls so they've got their hands full.

I can't wait to meet her!!

We're Baaaaccccckkkkkkkk!!!!!!

Hi Yes I'm still alive and No there are no new developments in us moving to Vegas...It's getting really annoying and I'm starting to lose my positivity. I know it's the hard times but still, can't a girl catch a break??
I'm trying to do the two absolute hardest things in this time: Sell my house and look for a new job. Fabulous. So we'll just keep truckin' along and keep praying and hopefully things will start looking up! That's positive right? Right...

So now on to something more entertaining. My kids! They are growing up so fast as you can see from the pictures below. Kayleb likes to pretend he's shaving in the tub and he's starting to pick out the different cars he would like to have when he "gets bigger". So far his choices have been a Porsche and an Audi. Guess I should start saving my pennies now...

Mia likes to try to wear my bras for her "bumpins" as she calls them. She asked me the other day why my "bumpins" are bigger than hers. If they weren't we'd both have something to worry about...She has also informed us that she now has a job. It's a hilarious conversation to have with her. She'll put on her sunglasses and get her purse and get on her big wheel to go to work. Apparantly she works at a hotel. When you ask her what she does there she says "I just drive around" then I ask her how much money she makes there she says "A bunch". She came into my room the other day at 5 a.m. with her purse and said she had to go to work "in 5 minutes". This girl is crazy.

We have been trying to potty train her. She has absolutely no interest in it. Kayleb was just so easy I forgot what I'm supposed to do. She'll do good for a couple days and then wants nothing to do with it. She says the potty is "nasty". The other day I bought her some Princess pull-ups thinking she would love them and told her she can't go potty in them or it will make the Princesses cry, she told me: "I don't care if they cry, sometimes people cry Mom".So I bought her Tinkerbell stickers that she would get every time she went on the potty. This morning she told me she doesn't want to go potty and doesn't care about those stickers anymore. I really don't know what to do with her! I guess all I can do is love her!
