Carseat Test

Callie took it upon herself to test out Macie's carseat.  She was happy to make sure it was snuggly and the buckles still work.  She was so comfortable that she watched Wonder Pets in it, despite the fact that she was spilling out of it.

I'm really excited to see how Callie reacts to Macie.  She is so sweet with other babies, and I know, after some possible jealousy, she will be a wonderful big sister!

37 Weeks 5 Days

I have been terrible about posting about my pregnancy this time.  Maybe because I feel like I just did it! :)  Never the less, I have had some requests for belly pictures so here are a few of me at almost 38 weeks.  I am feeling pretty good now.  Well, as good as you can feel when you're carrying around a big medicine ball in your belly! :)  Macie is very active and is constantly deforming my stomach.  Her favorite pasttime is to push her foot as far out of my side as possible or to stretch her entire body out.  I never get tired of feeling her move...well, except when it's painful. I'm still having a hard time believing that I will be holding this precious, active little girl in my arms in just a few weeks (or sooner, but please, Macie, wait for Daddy!).
Here are the requested belly pictures:

We were trying to get a kissing picture, but it wasn't quite working out.

For Daddy and Paw Paw on the Tiger Cruise

This is just a short video of Callie saying hi to Daddy and Paw Paw, although she was a little distracted at the time. She wanted to watch "Backyardigans" again.  She says, "Uh oh, Backyard!"
Mike, Charlie's dad, joined him in Hawaii to finish the deployment with Charlie.  They are having a great time, and it has been nice for Charlie to have his dad there to distract him on the last leg of the trip.  He's getting a little tired of the confinements of the ship so I thought I'd post this video to entertain them and let Charlie see what he has to look forward to!

This next one I was trying to get Callie to do what I call her Sumo (sp?) walk.  She spreads her legs wide and walks, waddling back and forth.  She didn't do it for me (Of course, she had just seconds before.  That's why I got the camera out.), but she does get her groove on just a little.  Tyler, her cousin, wanted a little camera time too. :)

Thankful

This year our holidays are going to be a little different than normal, starting with Thanksgiving.  All of our things arrived to Charlie's Paw Paw's house in Bryan the Friday before Thanksgiving so I was there to receive it all.  Grandma Susie kept Callie in The Woodlands which was a huge help and a blessing.
My mom came up on Wednesday to help unpack and organize the house.  I was planning on meeting her there with Callie, but Mike offered to keep her.  She stayed with them until Friday when we picked her up from the farm.  She had a blast with all of the family!  When I picked her up, she seemed so big, and it had only been 2 days.

Here are some pictures of the week that Grandma Susie took:
Image

Callie approved of the new sink for the farmhouse.
Image
Paw Paw Mike took Callie to Academy to get her first aTm jersey.
She rooted the Aggies on against the Longhorns, and I'm sure her support helped them win!
Image
Callie enjoyed getting to know Uncle Tom and the rest of the family better.

Image
Tom taught her this goofy new face.
Don't worry, Tom.  You don't look silly at all.
Image
Paw Paw, Ariel and Callie were checking out the progress on the farmhouse.

Image
Callie sported her new aTm stocking cap from Paw Paw, too.

I cannot thank all of our family enough for all the help that has been given while Charlie has been gone.  I don't know how I would have done it without y'all!  I am so thankful for all of you!

Daddy's In Trouble!

First of all, what is up with the new picture uploader?  They always turn sideways.  Sorry!

Charlie is in TROUBLE!  Callie already loves to put on jewelry, shoes, makeup and all things girly.
Image
She just can't have too many bracelets!

Image
She can walk surprisingly well in these heels...

Image
And she can totally sport the Sketchers.  Unfortunately, mine don't light up so there not quite as awesome as all the cool kids these days.

Image
If you're wondering, this was right after a diaper change.

Get ready, Daddy!  You're about to have another one, too! :)

ABC

A few weeks ago I was reading a book, and Callie came up behind me, pointed to some of the letters in the author's name, and said them...correctly.  I was blown away!  Just to be sure I wasn't crazy, I pointed to the letters myself, and she did it again.  I then got a piece of paper and pen and wrote a few more to really see how many she knew.  I have to say I was pretty impressed.
She loves to draw on paper, and I usually test her on different letters while she is drawing.  Over the last few weeks, she has been able to tell me the majority of the letters.  It's crazy!  Yesterday she named all the letters in "umbrellas" without 1 mistake.  I know I'm totally bragging, but I also need to record this b/c I don't think I would even believe myself if I said she knew some letters at 18 1/2 months and most at 19 months, years down the road.
Unfortunately, I have to give the credit to her favorite show, "Super Why."  I'm sure most of you know exactly what I'm talking about ;), but if you haven't heard of it, it is a show on PBS that teaches the alphabet and reading.  I don't really see the appeal of it, but she loves "Why!"
The following video was taken a week or two ago:

Captain Stocker

Image
On November 1st, Charlie was promoted to Captain.  I am so proud of him and the job he does with his Marines.  I know he is well respected among other officers and his platoon.  He is very deserving of this promotion, and I couldn't be more proud!  August marked his fourth year in the Marine Corps.  When I think about all that we've been through and experienced, it seems like a long time, but in other ways, it feels like yesterday that we got married (We got married the week after Charlie commissioned.) and moved off to Virginia for The Basic School.  Congratulations, Charlie!  I love you so much and have enjoyed the adventure we've been on with the Marine Corps.

18 Months Old

Image
Our Big Girl at 18 Months
(A blood vessel burst in between her eyes, leaving a bruise-like mark.)

Image
This is the face she makes when she says, "No."
She sticks her pretty little lips out as far as they can go.
Image
In our 2 minute photo session, she wouldn't sit still.  No surprise there!

Image
My little long limbed climber!
Where to begin?!  I feel like Callie has changed so much since my last update at 15 months.  I cannot believe she has been in our lives for a year and a half.  It has been amazing seeing how she grows and develops her little personality.  She is a very sweet, mild-tempered toddler, most of the time.  She has her moments of little, short tantrums, but for the most part, I would say I have lucked out.  I'm hoping this lasts even after Macie is here, and she has to share me.  She is definitely a Momma's girl.  She loves other people, but she wants to know where I am most of the time.  She is a big snuggler which I love.  She loves to curl up in my lap (or anyone else that is willing) with her thumb in her mouth and holding her Baby by the pigtails.  She particularly likes doing this while she is watching her favorite show, "Bwhy?" (Super Why).
She has changed so much, I'm sure I'm going to leave things out, but here's my attempt to document her life at 18 months.

At 18 months, Callie:
-weighs 23.5 lbs. (50th %) and measures 33.5 in (90th %)
-has at least 12 teeth, 8 in front and at least 4 in back.  (I'm too nervous to stick my bare finger in the back!)
-is taking 1 1.5-3 hour nap per day.  It's been at least a couple months since she's taken two a day.  I have to say that it is actually kind of nice because we can do things in the morning then she'll nap in the early afternoon.  Of course, our schedule will change again in a few months when little sister arrives!
-does what I ask most of the time without throwing a fit.
-has the funniest cackle when she laughs sometimes.  All I can say about it is it's a good thing she's cute if  her cackle lasts into teenage/adult years. haha!  It cracks me up everytime!
-loves to say, "Oh, man!", "Oh, nooo!", and "Oh, wow!"  The other day we were hanging out in her room, and she had pulled off all the books and stuffed animals from the bottom two shelves of the bookcase.  A few minutes later, she looked over at it and said, "Oh, nooo!  Mess!"  I had never heard her say "mess" before so I asked, "Did you make a mess?"  She said, "Tay."  (She usually says "tay" (okay) instead of saying "yes" these days.)
-likes her hands to be clean while she is eating.  If they get too dirty, she holds out her hands and says, "Hans. Hans," meaning she wants them to be cleaned.
-now wants to eat with a fork or a spoon.  She calls them both "moon."  I am working on distinguishing the two, but she persistently calls them both "moon."
-loves animals and knows many of their names and sounds. She sure didn't get this from me!  I'm interested to see if this love for animals lasts beyond toddlerhood.  I'm going to try really hard to let her embrace it and not press my opinion on her. :)
-loves loves loves books!  I'm very happy about this and hope it continues as she gets older.
-still loves her Baby.  She now has three babies, two identical and one different that still has the pigtails for her to hold on to.  She definitely knows the "original" baby and prefers her if more than one is around.  I really wish I would have videoed when she got her Baby's twin.  She just lit up and said, "Oh, wow! Two babies!" ( I taught her "two babies" when she got her other baby.)
-has no idea her world is about to be rocked.  When I talk about the baby in mommy's belly, she is unphased.  She does say "Mamie" for Macie and says, "Tay" when I ask if she wants to be a big sister. :)  We'll see in a few months!  I know she is going to be a great big sister after she gets used to having to share attention.  She is very sweet around other babies so hopefully she will be with her sister too!
-is talking so much.  I started a list a few weeks ago to help me remember all she is saying at 18 months, but after filling up 2 columns on one side and half the backside, I stopped.  It seems she learns a new word every other day.  She understands almost everything we tell her, and usually can respond using words. Most of her talking is one word phrases, but she does have some two word phrases that she uses.  The following list will probably be of little interest to most of you, but this is my record of her life so I want to document her most common words.
*Baby    *Two babies   *Mama    *Dada   *Paw Paw (Grandpa J. & Paw Paw S.)   *Mamma (Grandma J.)   *Grammy (Mammie)  *Papa  *eye  *nigh-night   *knee  *nose  *cheek (chick)  *hands (hans)  *ow   *hot   *cold (told)  *hi  *hello   *tay (okay)   *poopoo/poopy (dirty diaper)  *no  *yes  *bye-bye (dye-dye)   *please (pease)  *thank you (tittoo)  *Bwhy (Super Why)  *uh-oh  *bath (bah)  *milk (mill)  *mo mill (more milk)  *water (latter)  *beebo (belly button)  *eat (eee)  *oatmeal (omeal)  *Elmo (Ehmo)  *Cheerio's (o's)  *Oh nooo!  *bug (buh)  *towel   *egg  *Oh man!  *Oh wow!  *bubble  *heavy (hebby)  *yumm  *yuck  *cow (tow)  *cat (tat)  *puppy  *deer  *more (mo)  *help (hap)  *bow  *hair  *banana (nanna)  *color (tudder)  *draw (doe)  *spoon (moon)  *moon  *up  *keys (teys)  *shoes  *socks (hocks)  *phone (hone)  *medicine (meen)  *happy  *cry (ty)  *animals (anmals)  *don't know (no know)
I'm sure I'm leaving some out, but this is the majority of her vocabulary at this point.  She will repeat many other words when asked.  She amazes me all the time.  I know I'm bias, but I have to say she's definitely a genius! :)  Just kidding, but she is a smart little cookie!

It's crazy to think that when I do my next update for Callie, she will be a big sister!  She has been such a huge blessing in our family, and I am so thankful for her!  I can't wait for her Daddy to get home to see all the changes that have happened while he was gone.  We have really enjoyed living with Grandpa and Grandma Johnson and also having the opportunity to see more family.  "Pawpaw and Mamma" J and also family we have visited in Houston/Huntsville have been a HUGE help to me and have made this deployment so much easier than it would have been.  There is not a lack of love for Callie from family and friends, and I am so grateful.  We miss Daddy more than he'll ever know, but I know it is a comfort to him to know that his girls are being taken care of.  I love giving Charlie updates on how Callie is changing and the funny things she is doing.  I'm very excited to say that he will be home before Callie's next update, too!
We love her so much and love the little girl that she is becoming!

Monkeys at the Zoo

I have been wanting to take Callie to the zoo for a while now because she loves animals (didn't get that from me!), but it has just been too darn hot to even think about it.  Last Friday, the weather was decent so we joined Sarah, Brooke, and their kids on a trip to Gladys Porter Zoo and Chic-Fil-A.  Callie had as much fun as I thought she would.
Image
All the monkeys slowed down enough for a quick picture.
Image
Callie didn't last long in the stroller because she couldn't see the animals.  She had no trouble keeping up with the big kids, though.  It's times like this that make me realize how big she is and how quickly it's happening!
Image
The giraffes walked right up to us, and the kids loved it.
Image
The zoo recently built an awesome play area.  Callie couldn't quite do what the big kids could do, but she had just as much fun on the little slide and just running around.
Image
This is one of the only pictures of Callie's face because she was too busy playing and looking at the animals.
Image
She didn't know what to think of the mister in the play area.
Image
We will definitely be making another trip or two to the zoo before we move.  It will only get even better once the weather really cools down!

Mommy's Little Helper

I only have a few more months to train Callie (J/K), but apparently, I don't even have to try.  This morning I changed her wet diaper in the living room, and when I got up to go get her some milk, she grabbed the diaper, carried it down the hall, saying, "Yuck! Yuck! (Ndut! Ndut!)" all the way.  She came back to the living room without the diaper so I had to go see where she had put it.  I went into her room to find it, but I couldn't.  I looked in the diaper genie, and there it was!  It seems like she is doing more and more things like this that surprise me.  My little girl is growing up!

Big Girl in the Bouncy

We had a wonderful time at cousin Shelby's 3rd birthday party this last weekend.  Callie had a blast with her cousins and and of course, Uncle Ross.  Even Grandma got in!  They called me to come out to see how much fun Callie was having.  I am posting this video for Daddy, and I will post some more good pictures from the weekend soon.

She was wearing pants with that outfit earlier, but they fell off her skinny little booty.  She just wanted to keep them off.  It was a little hot for pants anyway!

And the Winner Is...

Macie Jane
Image
Charlie and I have decided on Macie Jane as a name for our new, precious daughter.  The above picture is of her at 18 weeks.  I may be bias, but I think she is already beautiful!  I won't be surprised if she looks a lot like Callie.  I just can't wait to kiss that little face.
She has been very active, and I have been feeling a lot of kicks and punches.  She either really likes it when I have a cold drink or really dislikes it.  Either way, she lets me know she's awake!  I am 21.5 weeks now so we have about 4 more months to go.

What's in a Name

Charlie and I need help choosing a name for our new baby girl!
With Callie, we had a name chosen even before we knew she was a girl, but this time it has been  a little harder.  Of course, we were able to agree on a boy name but not a girl name before Charlie left.  Since then, we have been able to narrow it down to two names that we both like a lot.  The problem is I like one name a little more and Charlie likes the other name a little more.  Although I'm not a huge fan of asking other people's opinions about baby names (solely for fact that usually you hear negative comments along with the positive), we have decided that this is the best way to finalize the name.
Our two choices are Macie and Meredith.  Please leave your opinion in the comments, if you have one...a positive one. :)  If you don't care for either, please refrain from saying so because most likely one of these names will be our daughter's.  We are set on the spellings, and don't plan on having a nickname for either.  We're hoping y'all can help us make our decision!
Another thing worth mentioning is that her middle name will probably be Jane in honor of Charlie's paternal grandmother.  Callie's middle name, Dianne, is in honor of my mom, and we wanted to honor someone in Charlie's family by sharing a middle name.  We like how both Macie Jane and Meredith Jane sound.  Please help!! :)

Half Way There

Image
These were taken at about 19 weeks.
Image
No, I am not wearing white tights.  I'm just that pasty!

I can't believe I'm already half way to my due date!  This pregnancy has gone by a lot faster than last time with Callie.  I'm feeling pretty good for the most part but still feeling really tired a lot of the time.  I guess keeping up with a 1 year old will do that to you, pregnant or not.  All I can say is thank the Lord for my parents!  I would be beyond exhausted if it weren't for them!
I feel a little guilty because the "2nd child syndrome" has already begun.  With Callie, I did regular belly updates, and I think these are my first belly pics for #2.  It's a little different though; the novelty of the growing belly is just not the same.  I promise I will be better when our baby girl is actually here.

                                      Image

We are almost to the half way point of Charlie's deployment, too!  He is doing well and is sweltering in Kuwait right now.  The temperature during the day reaches 130s-140s.  It's a dry heat, but at that temp, it doesn't matter.  It's just darn hot!  Ironically, he is really enjoying his time there and is glad to be off the ship.  The picture above was taken right after a mech attack.  Apparently, it was successful, given the burning buildings in the background.  I'm sure the Kuwaitis weren't too thrilled about that.  Other than missing Callie and me (of course!), he is doing great! :)  We can't wait for him to come home to us, though!  Four months and counting!

Look Who's Talkin'

Callie has been repeating what we say a lot more these days, and some things she'll just say on her own.  She's not technically "talking", but I think she's getting close!  She babbles conversations, with much inflexion, all the time.  I love to hear it!
Grandma taught Callie to say, "Tada!"  and "Here I am!," which comes out more like "Haaaam."  She also loves to say, "Woooow!"
Callie has most of the animal sounds down from the "Snappy" books.  She absolutely loves these books and wants to read each one everytime we sit down to read.

Tutu Cute

Virginia, Charlie's Mom, gave this adorable outfit to Callie for her birthday.  When I put it on her in April, the tutu just fell right off, and the pants were way too long.  I can't believe how much she has grown because now the pants are almost capris!  My little girl is growing up fast!  I just had to share these precious pictures.
Image
The outfit was even cuter when I put her bow in her hair.  I'm so excited she'll keep a bow in...at least for a while.
Image
She looks so old in this picture!

She's still my thumbsucking baby when she has her Baby. :)

Big Changes

It has been a while since I have blogged about what is going on in our life, and since then there have been some major changes. Fortunately, all the changes are good and huge blessings for our family.
As most of you know, the end of this year/beginning of next will bring three significant events for us. The first of course will be Charlie's homecoming. I am waiting very impatiently for December to come around! Charlie has had and will continue to have some amazing experiences on his deployment, and Callie and I have really enjoyed being in Texas with family and friends while he is gone. It's still not the same as having my best friend, husband, and Callie's Daddy, though so we are counting down the days (not literally but you get my point). I know it would have been a completely different (and harder) deployment for me had I stayed in CA. Not only has it been great having all the help and support, but Callie has gotten to know her extended family well. I know many people think I'm crazy, but I honestly can't get enough time with our families. We are truly blessed!
The second major event is going to be the birth of our second daughter (Yep, I said daughter!!!!) We are so excited for Callie to have a little sister, who remains nameless at this point. There is a very good chance that Charlie will make it here in time for the birth so we are really hoping for that! If not, I am prepared to have my mom, sister, best friend, or possibly all three to help me through the delivery. I started to feel Baby Girl move around a couple weeks ago, and it's just the most amazing, reassuring feeling when it comes to pregnancy. I have seen a couple ultrasounds already (She didn't cooperate in the first.), and she is a very active little girl! Technology is crazy these days, and we already saw her beautiful little face on 4D at only 18 1/2 weeks! I will post her picture as soon as I can scan it into my computer. I think Callie may have a little twin, but who can really tell so early?!? We'll see! I am 19 weeks now and feeling a lot better. Next week, I will be half way there! This pregnancy has seemed to go a lot faster than last time.
The last big change in our life will be the move to College Station! We are beyond thrilled and still a little in shock that Charlie was chosen for this position as an officer recruiter. The CS OSO (Officer Selection Officer, Charlie's official title) is a highly desired position, and I am so proud that Charlie was selected. As a boasting wife, it says a lot about Charlie and what a great Marine officer and leader he is! Not only is it going to being awesome to be back in CS (where Charlie and I fell in love, cheese I know!), but we will also be very close to our families. Relative to where we could have ended up, the 7 hour drive to Harlingen doesn't even seem too bad, and Houston and Huntsville are just a blink of the eye away! :) We are so excited to be back in Texas so quickly and while Charlie was still in the Marines. Thank you, Jesus, for all these blessings! We are definitely not taking them for granted!

More for Daddy

It's hard to believe this first video is only from a couple months ago. She already looks so much older, and I think her hair has grown an inch! She doesn't do this face anymore so it just makes me realize how fast she is changing and how important it is to document!!

While we were at the Horton's new house, helping them get settled, I mostly kept an eye on the kiddos in the playroom, due to my current state :) and not feeling the best. One day, Callie's legs and arms were cold, and my mom said when her students are cold she has them get up and do jumping jacks so Cade and Bailey showed Callie how to do them. She picked it right up, flapping her arms and walking around, although in the video she stayed in one spot! It was too cute! (This video was taken at my parents' the next week.)

No, Callie does not stay in her pajamas ALL day but usually until her nap. :)

We Miss You, Daddy!

Charlie has been missing his baby girl, and this video was too big to email so everyone gets to see this sweet girl.

Charlie, we miss you so much and are so proud of you!

15 Months Old

Image
Image
I know. I know. I have been a terrible blogger, and I'm not even going to make excuses. I'm just going to try to be better!
Lots has been going on since I last blogged, including Callie turning 15 months! Yesterday, in fact. She has changed so much in the last few months since her one year update. She is now a walking, talking, climbing toddler! She is such a sweet girl who loves to laugh and make people laugh. (Wonder where she gets that from??) She has also been such a trooper in our nomad lifestyle. In our two months in Texas, we have been to Houston/Huntsville and to Harlingen again 3 times, and she always adjusts well. In the last week alone, we stayed at 4 different houses! I'm sad Charlie has to miss this stage in her life, but she knows and loves her Daddy. His pictures get kisses regularly.

At 15 months, Callie:
-is walking very well and running too...at least when I say it's time to change her diaper. She finds this hilarious.
-climbs on anything she can, although she is pretty cautious, which I'm very happy about.
-has 6 teeth, and I think she is working on some more.
-sings when I sing her a song before putting her in bed. It's in her own language but precious, none the less.
-is saying many words and understanding even more. She is trying new words all the time. Some of the words she says often include:
*Mama
*Daddy
*Grandma (Mamma)
 *Grammy (Mammy)
*Grandpa/Paw Paw/Pappa (Papa) (It sounds the same when she says all three.)
*Baby (She says this word very clearly.)
*Banana (Nana)
*No (The sweetest "no" I've ever heard, if you can believe it.)
*Yes (Ice) (usually repeated at least 3 times)
*Hi (Hiiiii)
*Bye-bye
*Yuck (mndut) (She usually says this referring to a dirty diaper.)
*Milk (Mill)
*Ball (Ba)
*Booger (Boober, pronounced like booger but with a "b") (This is the name of Mike and Susan's cat, named by Susan's niece and nephew. Callie loves him!)
-does several animal sounds including mooing, barking, snorts like a pig, and scrunches her nose like a bunny.
-is still taking two naps a day. Praise the Lord for this pregnant mama! :) She stopped for a few weeks right after her 1st birthday, but when she started walking, she went back to two. Walking is tiring! :)
-is enjoying being so close to all her cousins. She loves for them to play peek-a-boo and read to her.
-loves giving kisses. They are big and slobbery, and I love them!

Callie is growing so fast and changing so quickly.  I guess it's a good thing since she's got a brother or sister on the way! I am cherishing every moment we have together, and I know her Daddy misses her like crazy.  We are so proud of him and can't wait for him to come home to us!

Telling the Fam

We decided it would be fun to wait and tell our parents about the baby in person, and I'm so glad we did. These videos and the reactions are priceless!
Telling my mom:

Telling my dad:

Telling the Johnson Family:

The funny part about this video is when Travis said, "My flooring guy told me!" Well, of course I had to get to the bottom of this and called Kristi to see how that happened. She said she had only talked to the flooring guy a few hours before we had the get together. While talking to him, he heard Maddie and asked about her. She told him she was a newborn and that Travis had a new one too. He didn't know about Claire so Kristi rightly assumed that they didn't talk often. Kristi went on to tell him that we are having a baby boom in our family and that I was pregnant. Travis so happened to call him to tell him Kristi would be calling, and he congratulated him on Claire and said, "I hear your other sister is pregnant." Travis said that that was news to him! I just thought that was the funniest story and had to explain it!
Telling Mike and Susan:

Telling Virginia and Champe:

Bun in the Oven

Yep, that's right! Surprise! We are expecting a little brother or sister for Callie. I am 9 weeks now, making the due date at the end of December. Although it wasn't our plan, it is God's plan, and we're very excited and feel very blessed! God's timing is the right timing! Callie and her sibling will be just shy of 21 months apart so I'm sure it will be a little crazy at the beginning, but I'm hoping they will be great playmates someday.
I got to surprise Charlie this time, unlike with Callie, when he walked in on me holding the positive test. My friend, Nicole, gave me the idea to put a bun in the oven and have Charlie open it. I decided to go with this idea. I took the test on Friday, April 23rd, and had to wait til the 27th to tell Charlie because he was on ship. That was torture!
He got home the afternoon of the 27th, and I told him I had made him a surprise and that it was in the oven. He went over and opened it and...

Priceless.

I think the shock has finally worn off, and now I'm just thrilled!  The details of it all are a little overwhelming (Charlie may not be here for the birth; I will give birth in Harlingen; we will move once, possibly twice, in the 1st six months of the baby's life.  The list could go on.), but I'm choosing to focus on the positive aspects of everything!  It was totally God's will that we moved to Harlingen while Charlie is gone.  I would be having hard time dealing with all of this, the exhaustion, and the nausea, if we were still in California.  I know I could have done it, but I'm so glad I don't have to.  My parents have been a HUGE...I mean HUGE help since we've been here.  They, along with other family and friends, are going to make this pregnancy and deployment a lot easier.   I still can't believe that Charlie will be coming home to a very pregnant wife or a new baby.  Craziness!

Baby Steps

As of Saturday, May 15th, Callie is offically a walker! For the last several weeks, she has been taking 5 or 6 steps between Charlie and I but had not really taken off. While we were at Grammy and Pappa's, on the 10th, she took her first steps on her own, walking between the couch and coffee table. She is very cautious and just didn't want to let go. She was happy cruisin' and holding a finger to walk. She had gotten to the point that she didn't want to crawl but wanted to hold a finger to walk. Needless to say, I was ready for her to walk! I took this video a couple days ago, and she is walking really well!

Road Trip

On May 1st, Charlie, Callie and I began our 1550 mile drive from Oceanside to Harlingen.  We were hoping for the best and preparing for the worst, but fortunately for me and Charlie, Callie did amazing!  We drove 600 miles the first day and ended up in Lordsburg, NM, then drove over 600 miles the second day and got to Kerrville.  The last day  we drove a little over 300 to Harlingen.  Our goal was to have an easy last day, and I'm so glad we were able to do that.  We were all so ready to be out of the car!

I promise we didn't bribe her with food the whooole time!  She also enjoyed books, singing, toys, and dvds.  We stopped every couple hours to stretch and change Callie's diaper.  She could not have done any better!

We had the hottest driver!  Charlie did most of the driving, but I drove a leg or two everyday.

We were never more excited to get to Harlingen than on May 3rd!  We had decided before we started the trip that we were going to enjoy our family time, no matter what it took, and, thanks to Callie, it didn't take much!  I've been in Texas a couple weeks, and I already feel like it was definitely the right decision to move.  Callie and I have already been blessed with lots of love and help from family and friends!  Thanks, Charlie, for all your help in moving and spending part of your leave driving over 1500 miles!

Engine Problems

I introduced the airplane to Callie so she would eat a few more green beans. Like all babies, she loved the plane, but when she tried to mimic me, she sounded like her engine was having problems. It was too funny!

Beep...Beep...Beep...

Today Callie and I went over to my friend, Natalie's. She has four cute boys, 10 yr. old twins, a 6 year old, and a 3 year old. Callie is always entertained by them, and today, the youngest, Joey, was the entertainer. The boys were eating dinner, and Callie and I were sitting across from Joey. He started opening and closing his hands and saying, "beep...beep...beep..." which got old really fast for everyone else, but Callie thought it was hilarious! When he stopped, she did the "more" sign to him, which is why I'm telling this story. This is the first time Callie has used the sign, other than referring to food. It was so cute, and I love seeing her interact with other kids. We're going to miss Natalie and her family, but I'm exciting for Callie to be near her cousins for the rest of this year. She's going to love it!

Lately...

I'd thought I'd share a few short videos of what Callie has been up to these days. The first one she is playing peekaboo. I love the noises she makes while playing. It's like she quietly says, "Where's Callie?" then a little louder "Boo!" and pops to the side.
****Warning: Ignore my annoying voice on all the videos!!****

Here she is trying to put a shirt on. She is determined!

In the last video, she is looking at a picture of a lion in my magazine. She has the cutest little roar!

She Melts Me

I just love this picture.  So precious on her tippy toes.

She loves her new ball popper that Grandma got her.  I love watching her play by herself.
