On December 29th, in the middle of all the birthday, Christmas, Layne's birth craziness, Macie turned 2! We celebrated at Thanksgiving with a Dora party because I knew her actual birthday was going to be crazy and overshadowed. Little did I know that Layne would be born only 6 days before! This chaotic time of year got even crazier this year. In the 12 days between Layne's birthday on the 23rd and my birthday on January 4th, we celebrate Charlie's birthday, Christmas, Macie's birthday and New Year's. Whoa. I'm going to have to figure out some sort of system! Anyway, back to Macie's day...
I call Macie my little firecracker. She is a very sweet, loving girl that likes her independence. She is very entertaining and makes me laugh all the time! She has many dramatic facial expressions and also cracks me up with what she says. There is no way to cover who Macie is in a blog, but I'll give the highlights.
At 2, Macie:
-is 3ft 1/4in (97%) and 26lbs. (38%). Weight for stature she is in about the 10th percentile. Long and lean!
-talks all the time, and there really isn't anything that she can't say or at least attempt to say. She talks in full sentences and has been for a while. I definitely can understand almost everything she says, and other people can understand most.
-does great at school and always says she has fun. She goes to a MDO program on T/Th from 9:30-1:30.
-has adjusted really well to having a little brother around. She has had her moments of not wanting to share mommy but is easily distracted and overall has just accepted it.
-sings "Jesus Loves Me," "Twinkle Twinkle," and "Praise Him, Praise Him" and other songs that strike her fancy!
-loves reading books, playing outside, Dora the Explorer, and playing with babydolls and lego blocks.
-loves her baby and her paci. I'm not sure how it's going to go when we decide to lose the paci. :/
decided a couple weeks ago to start crawling out of her bed so we made the change to a toddler bed. I was really worried about how that was going to go, but she shocked us with not getting out of her bed at all! She has been doing great!
-plays so well with Callie and misses her when she's not around. She can play by herself pretty well but definitely likes having her sister around!
-is a pretty good eater. She loves OJ and chugs it just like Callie does. I'm curious if it is a learned thing from Callie or genetic. :) I guess we'll have to wait and see what Layne does! She prefers meat over bread at almost every meal.
-uses her manners most of the time, saying "please," "thank you," and "you're welcome."
-says "I love you" unprompted. It melts my heart every time!
- is very independent. She can "do it myself" almost all the time. :) If we help her with something, she will put it back where it was so she can do it without help.
I love her kind heart that has a little spunk! I cannot wait to see who she becomes as she grows!
On her birthday, Grammy and Pappa came to celebrate with her and also to celebrate Christmas with us all.

| My Little Birthday Girl! |
Grandma went to get a cake for Macie and asked what kind I thought she'd like. I said I wasn't sure because she more of a meat girl than bread and sweets. We settled on a cookie cake, but of course wasn't satisfied with that. She bought Macie some Slim Jims :) and sure enough she licked the icing off the cookie cake and ate 2 Slim Jims!
