The start of 2011

Someone said the other day "I can tell life with 2 kids is keeping you busy... your blog posts are becoming more and more spread apart." Yes, I am super busy now that I have a almost 3 year old and a busy 17 month old. John Reid is in Mother Day Out 2 days a week and Benjamin started this semester going one day. I spent a lot of time last fall looking at Preschool options and we have found a place we love near our home. Both boys will start there in the fall. We also spend Wednesday mornings at Bible Study Fellowship and all 3 of us really enjoy it. I am AMAZED at the things the boys are learning and of course stand in awe of God's Word and the study of Isaiah. Chris and I have been teaching John Reid's Sunday School class and I wrote some curriculum for his age group during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Chris started a new job (a wonderful promotion in the same company) and absolutely loves it! What a blessing! I have also started playing tennis and although I am not very good... at all... I love it. I find myself wishing I would have found my love for the sport earlier in my life! ( I know Dad, you told me many time to pick it up!)

We kicked off the new year in Southern California with great friends and the best football game I've ever seen!

And a few weeks ago we had a great trip to the Fort Worth Rodeo with my parents

ImageTrigger family at the rodeo. John Reid's first experience with cotton candy. Benjamin was so funny with it. He didn't like the way it felt so as soon as he touched it he would throw it.

Image
That along with this sock. He threw it to the cows and they didn't treat it kindly

Image
Needless to say, he spent the rest of the rodeo without a sock!

What a great picture of my Daddy and my baby!

Recent quotes that make us smile...

When asked what he learned about sin at Bible Study Fellowship.
"Sin? Oh sin is not a good idea." John Reid

When sitting in the back of the car with only his own thoughts to ponder he says:
"Dad, it's not South Consin it's West Consin." John Reid still relishing in the Rose Bowl Win!

Because Benjamin's quotes are limited to things like "cracker" and "tractor" here is some insight into his personality.

I hope to post again soon. We have a busy next couple of week. John Reid's 3rd birthday, a big family trip to Disney and John Reid's 1st soccer practice (In true John Reid form, he seems WAY more excited about playing soccer than Disney.)

Christmas

Image
Long overdue Christmas pictures. We had a great holiday and got to see all of our family! Christmas morning we had a wonderful time celebrating Christ's birth with our sweet family of 4! Above is a picture taken at Leddy's in the Stockyards. Whenever my parents come in town we always enjoy our great Cowtown.

Benjamin's big gift was a play kitchen. I know it may seem like a "girl" toy, but believe me, there are enough boy toys in this house to go around! I wanted a play kitchen in our kitchen so the boys could play along side me, as I seem to spend most of my time preparing food for these hunger boys! We thought this picture was priceless. It seems as John Reid left his helmet (one of his Christmas gifts) on the counter on purpose to say "I might be playing kitchen, but I'm still a man!"

ImageJohn Reid with a Sooner jersey and TCU eye black. Yes, those are real football shoulder pads and he did not take them off on Christmas day. Including nap time.

Image
John Reid dresses himself before he comes downstairs each morning. Christmas morning, he put on his OU hat. This is his reaction as he looks at what Santa brought him for the first time. HIs big gift? A pair of soccer cleats he had drooled over for months!

Chris and I took John Reid on a Christmas date. This is before we headed to "The Club" (John Reid's restaurant of choice) and to see the play Rodolph

We call Benjamin Linus (minus the blanket this day) and Charlie was mimicking him!

Image
John Reid wasn't too crazy about a life sized Charlie Brown (although the movie is his absolute favorite), but the chocolate fountain was a hit!

Image
I was able to make 2 batches of Santa Cookies this year.
My grandmother started this family tradition over 50 years ago!

Special Moments

Here are a few special moment over the past few weeks...

Image
John Reid has found a new love for drawling. He learned to draw a circle and stick figure in the last week!

Sweet brothers...

He LOVES it out there.

ImageWe had a special weekend in Tyler for the Rose Festival. My mom came and we both loved every moment of it. Chris was a part of it several years ago and this was my first time to see it all in person. It truly is amazing. Above is the Queen... look at that crown.

Image
And this is her train. It's on display here, but at the performance we saw her walk down stairs and around the stage with this attached to her hip. It was a very SLOW process but quite a site!

We saw TCU QB at Chilk-fil-A. Andy Dalton is a great guy!

Birmingham and more...

Image
We were able to get John Reid on a real baseball field for the first time. He LOVED IT!
ImageUncle Chase introduced him to a new sport... Lacross. John Reid calls it CROSS.

Benjamin's birthday and dedication

The morning of Benjamin's dedication we rushed to the doctor with labored breathing. Turns out he just needs a little breathing treatment when he gets a bad cold. Poor baby!

Image
What a special time!

ImageAs soon as our family went up to the front, John Reid got the audience laughing by giving the Hook Em Horn sign. I held his hands the rest of the time...

Here are some pictures from Benjamin's first birthday party. As always, I had a lot of fun planning and loved celebrating our precious boy. Benjamin continues to bring such joy to our home. By his first birthday he was waving bye-bye, blowing kisses, saying Dada and outside. He is still not walking (typical Trigger boy style) but is talking all them time (he defiantly has his own language that is so funny to try to be a part of!)

Marfa Weekend

A college friend of mine had a WONDERFUL wedding in Marfa, Texas September 11. When she asked me to be a part of the wedding we had plans to have Benjamin dedicated and celebrate his 1st birthday over that weekend. Our dear friends Meg and John were making the trip from California and in the end, it was a opportunity we didn't want to pass up. Needless to say, we had a fabulous weekend with lots of old friends.

Image My mom and grandmother came to our house to take care of the birthday boy. This is a priceless picture of Benjamin with my dear grandmother. (John Reid was in Tyler)

Chris and I came home early Sunday and were able to have some special time, just the three of celebrating!
